A tree-filled Vernon Hills -- with its winding lanes and period light posts -- resembles a rural community more than a suburb of Chicago, but this terrific city is about 35 miles from Downtown Chicago -- a one-hour ride on the Metra. The Vernon Hills Metra Station is located on the south side of the city, near Hawthorn Club Park. Take Ranney Avenue off Highway 45. If you find a Vernon Hills apartment within biking distance, you'll find plenty of bike racks at the station.

Ive lived here over a year now and i love it landscaping is great. Office staff was friendly and fantastic id really recommend this complex
Happy with the helpful people that they have on this company. I went to see the apartments and I got lost for a minute I asked the maintenance guy to help me, he was so kind and took me to the right place where I had to go. Plus good thing he is bilingual. I really liked the area it was so clean. I will definitely move there.

This place is ridiculous. It is not luxury. Door intercom broken for months on end. I have had FIVE service request for my broken closet door in the past year. New management is the worst I've ever experienced. This apartments are not luxury. My washer machine sounds like a 747 taking off when it runs and the dishwasher takes 5 hours to complete a cycle. This place is a ripoff and not at all worth it.
There were some discouraging reviews when I was first looking at the complex. I ended up signing and it was a great decision. I love the area and it feels slightly disconnected from town (which is what I wanted), but only a few minutes from every store and restaurant you could need. There is a new management staff at the Oaks and they have been great. The older reviews of the staff do not reflect on the new staff. They are engaging and very happy to help you. I think it's a great place to live, but it is too expensive for most of the people I know that are looking to rent.
I enjoy living at the Oaks. There have been a few issues lately that have caused me concern. My packages have been stolen on more than one occasion. Also a few new neighbors have not been respectful of the space and smoking is still done on the property.

Let me 1st say that the quality of the units for the extremely high rent is absurd. Appliances, cabinets and the construction of the apartments are HORRIBLE. The walls are paper thin, you can hear your neighbors 24/7 talking, walking (especially) above you and cigarette smoke coming from units. Very aparent that the reason why they are not near capacity is poor quality, sky high pricing and MANAGEMENT! The Oaks management is simply aweful. In particular, the manager in the office. They act superior, stuck up & look down on you. Treat their renters like 5 year olds. In addition they are rude to kids and your animals in a pet friendly building too. Im so disappointed. Nothing like I was expecting. Very disappointed & unhappy.

I have stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. I moved into the Oaks & it has been a disaster. The manager even threatens me serving me with letters. Extremely unprofessional. Unfortunately does not know too much, just there to lease out units, that's it. Now I just went to the hospital & I have pneumonia due to the black mold in our apartment, in addition i will need assistance with a respirator for the next 8-weeks. My strongest advice is to "STAY AWAY!!!! Overpriced Extended Stay America.

Basing solely on this interaction, I would say that the maintenance team really does respond in a timely manner and courteous manner, and certainly tries to work with your schedule.
Came home very late from work and made a quick request that night. By next morning at work I had already gotten a notification on my phone that the issue was fixed. Upon coming home it was. It's so nice to have such a quick response to requests especially with having such busy days at work.
It's a peaceful living place and other people who reside here are nice and respectful.

We are new to this area . We looked at several apartment complexes . The Oak at Vernon Hills was BY FAR the nicest one. The grounds are impeccable and do beauutifully groomed. The staff so incredibly nice and accommodating. The grill areas are beautiful. The Oaks at Vernon Hills is a gem .

Worst choice ever. Even the management company changed to Lincoln Property Company getting worse. People in the office is nuts. Never answering call, even I personally visit 3 times during the business hours, their office is closed. Do not rent here. They show the only great parts and incentive for the lease, but that is bait tactics. Nighttime, I can hear the dog barking without stopping, dirty carpet in the hallway, unexpected bill from the family utility company.
Lack of communication and follow through from office staff
Office staff's poor attitude and service will drain the great experience you could of had at The Oaks. They are insensitive/rude and they think so highly of themselves. They treat tenants like they are above you and makes you feel horrible when a request is made. There is no communication or organization within the staffs. One would tell you something different vs the other staff when asked the same question. Wish property management can look into this matter and find ways to get a friendlier/accommodating staff team.

Pros: Good Location & Floorplans. Cons: Bait and Switch tactic when going to sign lease Insensitive/unknowledgeable office staff - how many times do I have to ask to get things fixed?!? Even worse management - extremely rude and dishonest. Apartments are poorly constructed - things are falling apart already! There is smoking everywhere despite being advertised as a 'nonsmoking environment' - the staff & management could care less. We moved in here a couple of months ago, very excited and unaware. It's not as 'luxurious' and accommodating as it looks... We've had multiple problems in a such a short time - and we have lived in other apartments for years without a problem. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere.
My husband I moved in a couple months ago and couldn't be happier. The property is new, beautiful and very clean. Our apartment is modern with gorgeous dark hardwood floors. The clubhouse and pool look like something from a resort advertisement. The complex has a private enclosed dog park for their residents to use, we didn't see that anywhere else. Tiffany, our leasing agent was very helpful from the moment we walked in and that continues today. We are very happy!!
Transferred from Florida and wanted an apartment that didn't feel like an apartment. Found it at The Oaks. I think this property is breathtaking. The kitchen is better than my home had. The layout of the grounds makes you feel like you are at the park. The lobby is large and decorated like a beautiful hotel. Prices are high !, but when I compared to other new apartments The Oaks makes more sense for what you get. Cindy and Rachel helped me and went out of their way to find me the floor plan I wanted. I had one service request and John was there the same day. I love it here
I moved in a year ago and just renewed my lease. I love my apartment and have experienced excellent service any time I have requested something fixed. The office staff is always pleasant and helpful. The maintenance men who come into my apartment to fix things are always friendly and can fix anything. They go above and beyond what they have to. Last winter when we had all the snow, I never had a problem getting my car out of my garage and the sidewalks were always shoveled so I could walk my dog. I have attended a few of the parties the management has had and met some of my neighbors at the party. I appreciate attending the parties because I work so much and I am not able to get out much. It makes it very convenient to meet people. I will probably stay another year when my lease expires.
My fiancé and I could not be more thrilled to live at The Oaks. The community is tucked away in a pleasant setting yet close to places to shop and eat. We work in the area which makes living here even more convenient. We moved here when the community was still under construction yet the staff at The Oaks ensured the community was left clean and tidy. A lot has changed in a positive way since we have moved in. They are working to finalize their final building, parking lots are complete and they even added a dog park on-site. The Oaks offers many apartment features and amenities that are comparable to other communities however; it is more up to date here. We moved into the largest 1 bedroom which features stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, a washer and dryer and a private patio overlooking the wooded area which surrounds the community. Residents here can enjoy the outdoor fire pit, pool, fitness center, and media room. They often host events onsite which allows us to meet our neighbors as well.
Cheery staff, impressive amenities and updated finishes make The Oaks of Vernon Hills a tempting choice for apartment living in the Vernon Hills area. Although the views aren't spectacular, and there isn't much entertainment within immediate walking distance, there are an assortment of shops between The Oaks and Westfield Hawthorn Mall which should cover the bases for most. With that said, prospective residents would do well to be on guard, as an unabashed bait & switch tactic may rear its ugly head after the application process begins, before lease signing; arbitrary criteria via a third-party background screening company can (and in my case, did--despite excellent credit and employment at a reputable, preferred employer) cause the $500 security deposit to balloon in size, resulting in a hefty (and unadvertised) move-in cost. If you don't mind paying a few thousand extra upfront just to move in, then you may find The Oaks to be a good fit. Be warned, this information likely will not be brought up until lease signing, so try not to get your hopes up. Instead, ask yourself: what other surprises lurk beneath The Oaks' glamorous surface? Do your research, shop around-- there are other options in the area. Extra star for friendly (if inflexible) staff.
Brand new construction, quiet buildings, beautiful surroundings, Metra station is very close, quick access to the Tollway and everything Lake County has to offer.
I couldn’t agree more with the review below. I have been living at The Oaks of Vernon Hills for couple months now and staff is not only insensitive but RUDE. Ladies at the office act like they are above everyone else living in this community. Any simple request seem to be extremely troublesome for them. Although this place is pet friendly which many might consider a plus, I cannot stand my neighbor’s dog barking day and night- the carpets on the hallway also get very dirty because of the animals. The maintenance staff although nice- takes forever to fix anything ( I have been waiting for 5 weeks for them to fix something). The office that is supposedly designated for residents, often does not have internet connection and the printed is constantly out of ink and paper- shame. I would not renew my lease with The Oaks again.

Yes, our residents are drawn to The Oaks for the pet friendly environment; including our extensive walking paths and dog park. On occasion it does provide for some challenges with certain pets. We do try to work with our residents immediately upon any note of complaint so we can rectify the situation. Please let the staff know if in the future you run into a situation with a pet disturbing you so we can do everything we can to address the situation. Regarding your comment about the timeliness of maintenance requests, yes, we did encounter a backlog of maintenance requests and have recently added 2 new team members to specifically address this issue. One who is handling scheduling and another field technician to complete work orders. This has dramatically improved our processing time of work orders. Should you have any issues in this area in the future please let us know immediately as we will continue to work towards improving our response time. Also, we have instituted a schedule to professionally clean the carpets in the buildings as well as purchased a professional grade carpet cleaner for in-between touch ups. While we were going through our construction lease up we did provide incentives to accommodate those that were living through the inconvenience of construction. As we completed construction those incentives expired. At the current time, The Oaks offers extremely competitive rents compared to other luxury rental properties with similar extensive amenities. Regarding your comment on the staffs slow response time, I would like to acknowledge your concern and inform you we have brought on 2 new staff members; 1 to administrate the work orders and another in the field to complete the work orders as they come in. We are confident with the addition of these 2 new team members we have begun to offer a drastically better customer service experience to our residents. Lived there for 12 months and regretted most of it. Great location and close to shops. Services and communication was poor. Took several attempts to repair issues on the apt. Several issues took 1-2 months to fix. Also following the repair they left the apt in worse shape (floors dirty, broke personal items) which took 4 months to get reimbursed for. Asked for a non smoking apt and once moved in found an ashtray in the a/c closet. Again they seemed unaware and lacked caring. Also, when I moved out they charged for items that were broken and noticed before I moved in. However they have no record.
The Oaks is a very unique apartment complex. There is plenty of green space with walking paths and a fenced in dog park under some very old oak trees. The landscaping is beautiful with lots of flowering perennials. The clubhouse is top notch and has state of the art workout center, a theater room and a covered patio area surrounding a large outdoor pool and a gas fire pit. In addition, there are multiple gas grilling areas scattered around the property. There is plenty of parking. The townhouses have 2 car garages and the apartments have private attached garages (for an extra charge) that open directly into the building. The apartment is quiet, probably due to the extra soundproofing. Bathrooms are tiled and the kitchen has granite and stainless steal appliances. There is plenty of closet space and utility bills are low. We moved to the apartment thinking it was temporary until we got to know the area. Honestly, the bar has been set very high, and we are happy to stay here indefinitely
