Like many college towns, Fort Collins provides a variety of shops, restaurants, nightlife, and entertainment in its downtown district, but the pull of the beautiful landscape might draw you outdoors most often. The nearby Rocky Mountains and Roosevelt National Forest are ideal for activities like hiking, biking, kayaking, and fishing. In the winter, sledding, skiing, and snowshoeing are popular.
Year-round events and festivals bring Fort Collins residents together. Whether it’s enjoying the popular summer concert series, catching a live musical performance at the Mishawaka Amphitheater, cheering on participants in the Colorado Marathon, or attending one of the popular music festivals, there’s always something exciting happening.

Property Manager at The Outpost, Responded To This Review
Hi there, thank you so much for your positive comments about The Outpost Fort Collins!
Staff is extremely inconsistent, inconsiderate, and apathetic You’ll never know who the property manager is or be able to talk to about any housing staff that isn’t student staff Rent that skyrockets a couple months in and never goes back down Paint stains on floors Fridge that broke and spoiled our food Multiple maintenance requests to fix stovetop with no response Our doorknob stopped working and had to be replaced No, it’s actually not that close to campus! Y’all can do so much better than this!
Horrible communication, unorganized. Unapologetic, lacking service, this should be illegal to run a property with this many gaps in communication, and logistic flaws.
Property shows well, but the underlying management is very bad. Poorly managed. Wasps around the entrances to the apartment was not handled. Had to clear it ourselves. 3 months and still waiting for our security deposit.
The staff acts friendly but they steal your money, make you live in horrible conditions, and never do anything to help the residents. I've never seen worse staff at a place like this. I have had to fight them over money so many times that it has made me break down into tears. The maintenance staff is always mysteriously "out of the office" on normal working weekdays when you need help. The units are cheaply made and you may have construction 10 feet away from your door. They will put you in units with people who violate the lease and break the law but the property will never help you even if your property is ruined. Nobody picks up after their 500 dogs so everything is littered with poop. I have lived in a lot of apartments in many different places and this is the only place where I can say I'm absolutely miserable. The only good things about this place are the amenities and the location. But you can always hear the blaring train through your improperly sealed windows so that's fun. When the wind picks up the houses scream since nothing was remotely weatherproofed or sealed. The internet is the only thing that is good.
This is my second semester living here and I am beyond disappointed. When we first got to the new house, it was trashed. It looked as if the people living there before us had not cleaned once. The carpet smelled like pee, was covered in stains, and when we wiped down the counters, the towels came out black with dust and grime. When we asked management if we could have it cleaned, they got defensive and insisted it was our responsibility to clean it...how does that make sense?? To make matters worse, we found out shortly after moving in that the house had a bed bug problem. Well, we can't get ahold of the office, (you can call everyday for a month, leave messages, and they still don't call back. Same with emails.) we're left in the dark. They made the company treating the house breach protocol and not treat the whole house, and now all 3 of us might have bed bugs and have to get rid of some of our stuff. It's been a nightmare. Lawyers are getting involved and now we have no where to go until the house is treated. Please, please don't even consider living here.
I have been a resident here for 2 years. 1 year when it was under the management of Aspen Heights and now under The Outpost. Heading into my second year as a resident I assumed it would be similar to the first but it hasn't been. We walked into our new unit and the Outpost forgot to have it cleaned. There was food all over the kitchen, hair all over the carpet, stains on the carpet, poop stains in the toilets, dog prints on our floors and many other disappointing aspects. We called management and they were very defensive when we asked for our unit to be cleaned and reluctantly said they would send in a cleaning crew at a unknown time. Upon arrival the cleaning crew told us that The Outpost had told them as of the night before that they had 100 units needing to be cleaned. After finally getting our place in order, there were a number of issues. Our tv service only offered 5 channels in which we called to try and get that fixed and they our fixing it today (2 weeks later). My roommate put in a maintenance request for her fan shaking when it was turned on. When the maintenance guy arrived he proceeded to pee in her personal bathroom and then told her nothing was wrong with her fan. It still shakes. I called to ask if I could pay my semesters rent in advance like I had last year and they said that they were no longer able to do that and would charge me a fee if I tried to do so. Long story short, the management is really aggressive, defensive and unhelpful. I feel like I got tricked into being told it would be the same and pretty trapped in my lease.
Don't bother living here. Management is malicious, the office is clueless, and they are sending me to collections for $2,403 which $1,500 of the charges is totally made-up. $100 to repaint the CEILING? $640 in releasing fees when both contracts state $250. July rent early even though I keep hearing about how they have replacements but no one ever seems to respond back to them. The managers never know what the actual charge amounts are...I was told three different fees to be "released" by everyone I asked. Go somewhere else. I'm stuck being punished for their incompetence for the next few years with collections and I really don't want anyone else to have to deal with the same situation. Upper management doesn't do anything either; they sit in permanent denial that their employees can even do any wrong. If you have the great misfortune to be stuck with a hostile roommate, that's your issue and not theirs. They just collect rent. They've breached the covenant of quiet enjoyment on more than one occasion, and they don't really care that your car gets broken into...it's not their problem that the neighborhood isn't safe. Just pay your rent and hope the homeless don't steal your stuff. If you have problems, don't call in: email and keep physical copies of everything. They'll cherry pick when they want to enforce the lease and you better be prepared to beat them over the head with evidence if you want them to do anything. Or just do what I did and contact the news stations. Maybe then they'll start listening.
