Property Ratings at The Overlook on Prospect
Only spent six months in Milwaukee due to my boyfriends job relocation, but I am so happy we chose to spend those months at the Overlook! What initially drew us in was the perfect East Side location a block away from Whole Foods and steps from restaurants, bars and more. The apartments are updated, spacious and QUIET. The residents are kind and the management team is friendly and communicative. They go above and beyond for their residents. Cameron, the property manager, even offered to look after our cats while we were going to be traveling home for the holidays. I would highly recommend living at the Overlook!
Current resident in my second year here. The apartments are large compared to other new buildings in town. Management is professional and very responsive. That’s about where the positives stop. There are absolutely no amenities here - no gym, rooftop, office, etc. Also the location is extremely noisy with Black Cat Alley and Colectivo’s Back Room is so loud I can hear the bass in my top floor apartment. Tenants are also young and irresponsible me. If you want luxury and some quiet, look elsewhere.
I lived here for two years and absolutely loved this place! The management was top notch and always responded briefly to all of my needs. Management was also friendly and always willing to help. The east side offers amazing restaurants and bars and this apartment is super close walking distance to Bradford Beach and the Oak Leaf Trail. Management was also accommodating to me needing short term parking throughout my stay with a required fee for the parking spot. I felt very safe and other tenants were really friendly. I loved that packages were dropped off right by my door for delivery. Overall, would recommend this apartment building to anyone. Such a fun and safe area.
I lived on the top floor 5th floor and enjoyed my time in the building. The staff is very helpful when I needed something fixed or looked at. I am handicap and required a push cart and got one the next day which is amazing. The guys Jordan and Tim are the best. The living in the apartment is great on the 5th floor because of a wonderful view. It's a great easy in and out from the garage as well. Also don't forget the back alley is a work of art!
Save your money and don't move here! There is nothing luxurious about this place but the price. The walls and floor are paper thin and the windows don't insulate at all. The kitchens are poorly laid out and the cabinets are cheap. I've been here for a few months and the laminate is already peeling off. None of the closets have lights in them and the shelves are not close useful if you are shorter than 6'8". The units are super dark because of dark floors, dark cabinets, dark doors, and the ceiling being painted the same dark color as the walls. The parking garage has standing water in it at all times and there is no ventilation which makes it very warm and humid. That is a good recipe for mold, but I'm no scientist. The management is useless. Calls and emails are never returned and if they are, it is after 3-4 attempts made by you. They just say they never got them. The property will allow anyone with a pulse and a deposit check to move in. I have been told the police have broken down doors twice already for drugs/burglary and there was known felon living on one of the floors during the winter and spring. There is no communication from management about these things to residents. If you want to live on the east side, rent a house. It is probably cheaper and you will get way better service.
