Located along the Hudson River in New Jersey, Edgewater is a buzzing residential community. Whether you’re traveling by car across the George Washington Bridge or taking the train, Edgewater is only 10 miles away from New York City. Despite being within minutes of New York City, outdoor recreation abounds in this riverfront locale. The Grand Cove Marina, Veterans Field Park, Edgewater Dog Park, Palisades Park Recreation Area, and an extensive trail system provide countless opportunities for outdoor fun. River Road is Edgewater’s main thoroughfare; bars, pizza shops, restaurants, and stores all reside on this road. Additional dining options are available along the river as well. The other parts of Edgewater consist of residential avenues holding an array of apartments and condos at cheaper price points than their New York City neighbors.

Property Ratings at The Oyster
Yes, it’s an amazing view and very nice area and the apartments are very nice and modern. BUT the walls are terribly thin and you don’t realize how much that effects your living comfort until you experience it. My neighbor would blast music with a lot of bass all hours of the night, to the point where I had to make a noise complaint with the police and nothing came of it. In fact, my neighbor got even more upset and played his music even louder. I complained to the building multiple times, as my neighbor was clearly violating his lease by being a disturbance. Management (Lester) did absolutely nothing. He was also impossible to reach. Never answered the phone and responded to emails a month later, if that. The cons definitely outweighs the pros here
I will rate this place as 0 when it comes to noise and marijuana odor . You pay an arm and a leg to live in a marijuana house. Don't believe the non smoking in the lease. It doesn't matter for managenent. A large percentage smoke marijuana and the walls are so thin that you literally get high in your own house. Second hand odor is extreme and management takes no steps to prevent smoking. You can't enjoy your balcony because most of people around you smoke marijuana. Elevators, hallways, common places are infused with the marijuana odor and your apartment will smells like rotten eggs.Noise is also quite high, you can hear your neighbors constantly. So if you are a smoker you will do fine. I think this place has a reputation for smoking because lately I see an increase of people who smoke marijuana.
There is no soundproofing between units here, and the management's ability to handle the work is the worst. I regret coming here and I can't sleep at night because of the noise. You have to suffer from noise until 4AM, and earplugs are a must. If you want quiet privacy, absolutely don't come here.
Easy access to Manhattan, Hoboken, Jersey City and Fort Lee. Love my apartment. So much more room and killer views. My previous Manhattan apartment had half the square footage for the same price. Nice to be able to walk along the river. Everything is close by. This is a dog-friendly building and there are a lot of dogs – all very nice. The building team try to make you very happy and comfortable. I looked at many other apartments in the area and was not impressed. I am in the process of renewing my lease for another year.
I have lived in many different apartments in New York and New Jersey . By far the Oyster has been the best living experience. From the staff to the vibe and feel it is all excellent. If you want to be close to city and have a beautiful clean friendly place to live the oyster is the place.
This is one of those scenarios where zero stars are in order. Renter beware. First and foremost, the heating/air conditioning system sounds like a jet engine in your apartment. Ask to turn the heat or air on before you rent! You will be astounded by how loud it is. You can't carry on a conversation, never mind hear your TV! The building is half occupied, so management feels as though it is unnecessary to heat the hallways and common areas. The temps are as low as 47 degrees at times. There is a children's playroom that is also freezing. The temperature is set to 62 degrees and they actually expect children to play in this room. There is no doorman most evenings as promised. The hallways are constantly filled with marijuana smoke. Most tenants have dogs and many are aggressive breeds, even though the do not "accept" these breeds in the building. Oh and many of them bark constantly which you can hear in your apartment. The staff, especially management, is dismissive and rude and completely useless. This place is an absolute free-for-all and FAR from a "luxury" building. Unfortunately, there were no reviews on yelp or anywhere else before I rented my apartment. This building is terribly overpriced and a total disappointment and disgrace. I've spoken to many of my neighbors and most are very unhappy. Rent at your own risk.
