Property Ratings at The Patten West
This is the worse apartment complex I’ve ever lived in. The maintenance people have been trained to tell you when there’s a problem that this is normal wear and tear. I’ve never had this issue in any other apartment complex. There are raccoons living in the walls. You can hear them and their pitter patter in the middle of the night and early in the morning. They occasionally ripped through the trash when you leave it out for the service guy to pick it up and create a mess. Some of the lighting outside doesn’t even work so you’re basically left in the dark and you have to carry a flashlight to even see. There’s about three different species of cockroaches that live in the kitchen, and no matter how many times pest control has been requested. I’ve sprayed and they still come back. They live in the walls. It’s a building issue. The building is rotting. They’ve let go of the pool maintenance and now it’s turned green. They never send pest control but they’ll still charging you. When I first moved in here, they gave me the place trashed. The water smelled Horrible like rotten eggs. It would come from the pipes randomly, so no matter what you did your apartment just smelled. Do not move here. It has been the worst decision of my life. The water is super harsh and leaves your hair fried. A lot of the neighbors leave their trash everywhere I would post pictures if I could on this site but please listen to all the bad reviews because that is what it’s like living here
I have lived at this community for almost 5 years. It has been the worst experience ever. But, due to location and my work in walking distance, I don't have a car, I am here. I am actually glad I stayed. The new Manager Janelle is amazing. I have put in maintenance requests forever and nobody ever came. BUT with the new management and maintenance I put the request in and with in a day everything was fixed. My heater has gone out in the past month and today DURING THE FREEZE OF 2024, Janelle came in and fixed it. It was just a breaker but she at least knew to check that. She is a ROCKSTAR!!!!!
The property is under NEW MANAGEMENT!!!!! They are a whole new company. I really recommend this community now. 2 months ago I was ready to move but I just signed a new lease. 10 STARS
Save your money, don’t move here. No money and care go into the units or complex. Lots of corners cut or issues ignored to avoid paying money to properly fix things. So please keep that in mind, this is not somewhere you should want to make home. The complex is rotting physically but the prices are rising. Quality is horrible, office staff purposely ignores residents, and they cannot keep staff both in management and in maintenance. Place is VERY let go and very poor quality. Head of maintenance should not be employed here, I will just say his name starts with an E. You will see him doing everything except his job. Maintenance orders are left uncompleted for MONTHS. There are hundreds of orders back ordered, collapsed ceilings, and crumbling foundations. As I said, better off anywhere other than here, including the streets.
They put absolutely no money or time into keeping the complex OR the units livable/nice. Everything is outdated and everything is fixed very lazily by the main maintenance man Eddie. Literally paint over mold kinda fixes. Lots of mold, expect water and AC issues, bugs (insane amounts), break ins, and package losses. This is by far the most disgusting complex I have ever come across. Do not move here save yourself the money!!!! They never want to fix anything the RIGHT way they just make it seem fixed and move you in to deal with all these issues nonstop. They also don’t care about their residents at all, you could be calling for months about major issues. Now the entire complex is experiencing FOUNDATION issues!! All units have major cracks, collapses, etc because of all these lazy fixes that are finally catching up to them. Leasing center was also broken into a week ago. Neither a safe or nice place to live. Please don’t move here and be stuck like I am.
No water for 12 days now with no end in sight AND no rent compensation or discount. They offer breakfast and lunch but I would rather they cover rent & not buy food and let people with no masks manhandle community food. Not super safe in a pandemic or helpful if the complex doesn't have water and then there is a breakout of covid in this complex because of the silly acts of compensation. Woken entirely too often at 8 a.m. by leaf blowers- sometimes that go all day. Usually a few times a week. Woken at night from drivers with loud strereos. People honking through out the day, early a.m. and night waking me up Or interrupting life... Too many maintenance issues, maintenance guy came over during pandemic with no mask, rude manager, staff deals with reasonable requests like its a burden. I can hear neighbor at night snoring, the walls are so thin. Stairs are rusty and paint chipping. I always wonder if they will break some day. Overwhelming chemicals come in when they do remodels. Smoke comes into my place from other people's fireplaces. Car broken into twice. Mailboxes broken into on a regular bases and Mail stolen.
I've been renting for 8 years. I've never had a worse experience than this place. My car was broken into in the parking lot. We had a pest(s) problem in our building - as we would hear animal noises in the walls. We told management, but they never resolved the issue as it seemed they just trapped them in the walls. The animals had fleas which made us have our apartment treated for bugs.. which would bite us constantly. Ultimately a family of possums died in our walls which was the final straw and broke the lease three months after moving in. I would strongly recommend not living at this apartment complex.
Property is great. Staff is awesome. Love going the events. Maintenance is quick. No complaints!!! Keep being great :)
Most of these positive reviews are because of a "5-star contest" from the apartments management. Realistically a business shouldn't have to give an incentive to get a good review. My husband and I have been here 6 months and are counting down the days til we can be out. The lease has a clause stating any negative review can result in a lease violation. Since these are matters of fact I'll take my chances. There are crowbar marks on our sliding door due to the rough neighborhood. I just fixed my car doorhandle after someone tried to break in. If this sounds like your type of place then you're a signature away from being home!!!
So, initially, my boyfriend and I were not crazy about the location and assumed there would be a lot of crimes, etc. but we were pleasantly surprised that after 1.5 years of living here - we love it! We haven't had any safety concerns and the apartment has been wonderful to live in. Keep in mind that it is an older property so there is a higher cost to utility cost and internet is o-kay - but management is always available to assist with issues such as leaks, toilet, water, etc. We have a spacious home that we made very modern (decor) and has large windows in the living room which I will one day miss once we move. Highly recommend this complex to families or young couples!
As rent prices go up, the only thing that has been improved at this apartment complex is the ability for the tow truck company to tow your car, even if you live here. Nothing new has been added to the complex, parking is non-exsistant for renters, let alone any visitors, and "security" does nothing but sit in their car. Break ins are a common occcurance. The fact they try to sell future renters on the idea of a "gym" is laughable. Management will say they have contacted you about supposed violations and assess fees to your bill based on new requirements when in fact no attempt has been made. I and other renters, both past, and present have tried to discuss issues with management and their response is only timely if you owe them money or have to pay a new fee. This place may seem like they care to get you to sign a contract, but you are forgotten as soon as you move in. An old employee told a group of us that because everyone is renting in Austin, if the customer doesn't like it, they can move. Do yourself a favor and find a different place to live.
I'm nearing the end of my first lease here and i have to say i won't be back. Not because of the apartments condition but because this place is not safe what so ever. There's no gate so any can come in and go as they please. Over the time I've lived here I've been woken up by the police at least 4 times all because of violent crimes. I'd think twice before being fooled by the pretty model apt and friendly staff.
I've had nothing but problems since living here. The management here is the biggest joke. They are impossible to deal with and consistently refuse to address the problems you have. If you have any maintenance problems at all, get ready to never stop asking. They will close your request claiming that they fixed the problem and not the first thing has been fixed. If you even somewhat regularly have things shipped to you, get ready for the most annoying experience in just getting your packages from the office. This is the noisiest apartment I have ever been in. I hear every single thing my upstairs neighbor does. I often complain to the management that I'm woken up multiple times a night, but they say there's nothing they can do. I feel a responsibility to save as many people as I can from moving here. You'd regret it in a matter of weeks.
I been living in thos apts for about eight yesrs now i do recommend these apts nice and quite and dog freindly.i never had any problems here ,but iam having to by october 2015 because the rent is going up again cant aford it... But it would be nice to win rent for a year.please consider me thanks...
I really feel a sense of community. I moved from a small city and never lived in an apartment complex. I have been here 3 years and im about to sign a 4th year lease. Its very affordable, has a great pool for this area and is very close to downtown. The maintenance crew is wonderful.
