National publications constantly place Pittsburgh near the top of the list for most livable cities in America, and it’s easy to see why. The city has a rich history as an industrial and economic hub, which led to the construction of many grand buildings and public sculptures which still stand today. Downtown in particular is rich with beautifully preserved buildings and lush public parks dating back well over a century, giving the entire community a timeless atmosphere.
Pittsburgh is split into three sections by the rivers passing through the city: Downtown (a.k.a. “The Golden Triangle), the North Side, and the South Side. Each has its fair share of attractions and landmarks: the North Side is home to Acrisure Stadium and PNC Park (making it a perfect area for sports fans), the South Side features big, beautiful greenways and refurbished steel mills, and Downtown is where you’ll find the most variety in dining, nightlife, and entertainment.

Property Ratings at The Pennsylvanian
Maintenance request have left some things unresolved. Negative reviews I read prior to moving here were regarding maintenance issues and so far they have been correct-they try. Washer dryer stack was replaced with an all in one ventless that takes hours for just one load-not fan at all. Hope to be able to get a storage locker. Still getting use to not being able to just go get my own car. Love the gym! Location is great.
I have resided at The Pennsylvanian since 2017 and have enjoyed those years and intend to enjoy many more. The staff and maintenance staff are a joy to work with and do an excellent job in taking care of my needs throughout those years! Wonderful location as well.
This is my third year as a resident and I call it home! Recently graduated from Point Park University, I am working on a career path that I worked through Covid lockdown and more as a freshman as I arrived at university only to find my roommate and friend from HS was not there and in a hotel! New town, a pandemic and no socialization was beyond explanation! I subsequently was able to procure my home in the Pennsylvanian and am grateful for the location (a fare and train station within reach to go see my family) I love it here and my degree is in very high demand for living and working in the “financial district” of Pittsburgh! Home!
Up until now my experience has been positive. The staff was very professional and warm as they helped me find the appropriate people to tour the apartments.

Resident experience was great! Loved how the staff was nice, however, wish that the unit would of been better regarding ac and heat when we moved in

So good to hear from you! Thanks for letting us know. Have a great day!
The building is very nice. I've lived here about two years and haven't had any problems. It's quiet, it's in a great location, and the views are wonderful.

Many thanks for the 5-star rating. We have the best residents in town!
I love living in the Pennsylvanian! My apartment is something I've always dreamed of. The staff is incredibly nice, the valet parking is wonderful, and the overall atmosphere is perfect. However, there have been a few issues. I moved into my apartment and did not have heat or AC for 9 months because it took the building forever to get someone to come in and fix it. So make sure it's included when you move in!!! There are also some hidden fees that they don't tell you about, like a $62 convenience fee for paying your rent online (which has increased since living here!!), I think it is ridiculous and they won't accept cash, so you have to pay it every month. Also, they are very stingy about things (ex. paying rent on time, valet parking, no parking in either of the outside lots, etc.) but when it comes to something being their fault, they just avoid the conversation (ex. me not having heat/AC for 9 months!!!!!)

We're so happy to hear you love living here at The Pennsylvanian. Residents do have an option to pay online at no additional charge utilizing our \"echeck\" option. If you need assistance getting that setup please let a member of our team know! We do understand issues with heating and cooling can be a frustration and also take time. We do our best to keep residents comfortable by providing temporary heating and cooling while we work to address any existing issue with the central system. If you'd like to discuss your experience in further detail, please don't hesitate to reach out.
So far so good. No complaints. Still trying to understand where the “water line”in the dryer lint filter is. Never had a vent inside my laundry room like this-they usually go outside.
I have renewed my lease again. The building is quiet and very convenient for hopping on a train to travel with ease. I have several deliveries in a month and in the three years I’ve been here only once was my package placed in the former tenants box. The leasing office is very nice and have been a help when I have needed. Another year in the Pennsylvanian after graduating and now a perfect opportunity for a career in this area lies ahead!

Hi, thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We're glad to hear you're having a positive experience!
Good! The location is perfect, close to public transportation, grocery stores, and restaurants. The apartment itself is spacious, with modern appliances and a stunning view from the balcony. The management team is always responsive and goes above and beyond to address any concerns. The amenities are top-notch, including a fully equipped gym, a beautiful pool, and a cozy lounge area. The maintenance team is quick to resolve any issues, and the property is always clean and well-maintained.
For now, I really enjoy the living in Pennsylvannian apartment. Living in my Pennsylvanian apartment has been a delightful experience so far. The spacious layout, coupled with large windows that allow plenty of natural light, makes the space feel open and inviting. The building is well-maintained, and the management team is responsive and attentive to any concerns. One of the highlights is the location—nestled in a quiet, picturesque neighborhood, yet conveniently close to shops, restaurants, and public transportation. The amenities, including the fitness center and communal lounge, are well-kept and add to the overall comfort of living here. Additionally, the community is friendly and welcoming, which has made settling in even more enjoyable. While I have only been here for a short time, I am thoroughly enjoying the experience and look forward to making more memories in this wonderful space. It's a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and community.
Spacious and quiet. The staff is awesome - kind, helpful, and responsive. We moved from another state and had a ton of questions, and they made the process much easier.
It is a nice place to stay, the concierge is friendly and the neighbours are welcoming. Maintenance staff promptly responds to service requests as well.
I love this apartment and living here but time and time again the leasing office has proven to be incompetent and inconsiderate. If you have money to pay what they want (even when they make mistakes) this place is worth it. If not, be prepared to fight with them for what you deserve. Also, people love to sleep outside of the building near the dog park and smoke crack so have fun.

Hello, I'm very sorry to hear about the negative experience you've been having at the property. I'd be interested to hear more about your experience with the leasing office to see if we can't possibly come to a better understanding. Issues with the unhoused in the downtown area have been more challenging recently. In these situations we recommend contacting 911 and reporting the person/s; asking that they're removed. You can likewise report to our office or font desk and we will make the call. If you'd like to connect and further discuss any of these matters, please don't hesitate to reach out to our office and request a meeting with our community manager.
Overall i have enjoyed it here. It’s quiet and easy. I dislike the issues with AC that are constant. I also dislike the fact that there is zero outdoor area. I would love maybe a rooftop patio or literally anywhere where residents can safely enjoy fresh air.
I love it here! So far everything has been great and the 24/7 valet is phenomenal, especially since it is underground and safe from the in-climate weather we have!

I am very happy living at the Pennsylvanian and I will be here 7 years this coming November. Great location and great staff.
The management company was extremely unresponsive to numerous requests to address water damage in the apartment. This went unaddressed for months and progressed to the point where the ceiling was caving in and pieces of drywall were falling down. When at last they had a maintenance worker assess the damage they turned off the water and power without telling me and left my apartment unlocked. This happened 3 times in one week all without any actual progress made to repair the damage or even resolve active water leakage. The management was impossible to reach and never returned any messages left with the administrative assistant in the office. When I moved out early they attempted to charge me a break lease fee and utilities and rent for the month the apartment was uninhabitable. I told them these were undue charges and I would like to discuss further and they never reached out. Now, 18 months later, they are demanding that I pay them more than $2000 in fees despite the fact that I never received notice from them in the last 18 months. They are threatening to turn over the claim to the credit bureau and have stated that they have no legal obligation to honor the circumstances that transpired because I did not have the health department come out to formally document the damage and lack of electricity. They also claim they have no legal obligation to make sure that I have been notified within a timely fashion of outstanding charges. I will be taking legal action and reporting this business to the better business bureau. I hope this review allows someone to avoid going through this same experience, I cannot recommend enough against entering a rental agreement with this company
I’m very happy with my apartment, and the building. It’s gorgeous. Staff is all wonderful as well.
Love living here for the past 6 years, great location -friendly environment, pet friendly super transportation. Larry and Tyler always so pleasant and helpful. Can’t say enough about them.
I have felt safe and involved in my community. All employees are extremely nice and helpful, even making an effort to remember your name and make you feel like you're at home. The building is very safe and secure as well.
The Pennsylvanian is a great place to live right in the middle of Pittsburgh close to public transportation. The staff are extremely friendly and professional. The rooms are modern and clean, and extremely quiet.
The Pennsalvianian is everything you could want out of a city apartment. The location is convenient, staff is kind and helpful, apartment is quiet and peaceful, great amenities, awesome city view, and at a good price.
Really didn't have any major issues living here until moving out early for a job in another state. My ledger was at $0 when I moved out, pending final water charges. Now it's over $4000. Despite giving proper notice and having the charge removed previously (with emails to back this up), I was again charged an Insufficient Notice Fee for $2700. When I called to ask about the balance, they told me to call the number listed on the final ledger mailed to me. I told them nothing was ever mailed to me, to which they said because they didn't have a forwarding address (despite me having an email to them with it before moving out). When I asked where the number on the ledger goes, they just said a third-party and insisted that's who I talk to. Previously, I spoke with multiple people in the leasing office about the early move-out process before doing it, and had them breakdown the costs, so whatever this $4000 balance is was never discussed with me at any point during these conversations since I jotted all the numbers down to budget for the move. Additionally, when my new apartment tried to get rental verification from them, they never got back to them or to me after emailing them (so my new apartment had to work around this). I would have appreciated discussing this with the actual leasing office instead of being pawned off and told to wait for a ledger in the mail with a third-party number.
As of 4/16/2023 there is no functioning air conditioning in the units. This is the third year in a row this has happened. Units are 80-90 degrees depending on floor. The ladies in the office have decided to withhold air conditioning until late May ear June. They does this every year. Do not live here
Great apartment. Updated clean appliances and amenities. Great area and quiet neighbors! In the winter it’s get a little cold as if the heat is not on but everything else you will love.
From my very first contact with the leasing office at The Pennsylvanian, it felt like home. Nicole was professional and provided all of the information I needed to make me feel welcome. I truly am home.
I cannot write a positive review. Very expensive (great apartment, great location) and you really don't get the luxury that you are paying for. I had to scrub the one bathroom we could use when we moved in myself and it was gross. The trash rooms needs to cleaned and sanitized. We need more than one person handling maintenance. Jeff is amazing but he is on person. This could be a great place to live. It takes took long for maintenance requests to be serviced and its frustrating when it not completed in a timely fashion or at all...
Management is very good at getting bad reviews taken down, so take the negative reviews you see very seriously! This place is the worst. The on-site management people are about a dumb as a box of rocks. They delay major repairs and then the whole building has no A/C for months on end! Check other review sites and notice that any good reviews are usually 5+ years old - Greystar has run the property into the ground and they simply don't care. They won't until people stop renting there - so do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This building will be nothing but a nightmare for you!
The way they have handled the new A/C install has been pretty terrible. They went into the electrical panel and left two live wires hanging so people couldn’t turn on their A/C. Once they came and turned the A/C on it still won’t blow cold air. On top of all this there is no discounts on rent and I’m going to get charged for running the A/C electric bill when it didn’t even work. Just awful. 0/5
Air conditioning is not functioning in the entire building, every apartment since April. Today is heat advisory day reaching the high 90s. I'm checking into a hotel today. Denied money off rent payment to counter the extreme inconvenience and discomfort. Windows are sealed, except for one window in each room that will open 6 inches. We were offered portable AC units and box fans, but that doesn't make it livable. Very noisy, bulky, can only be placed in one room. Can't watch TV, can't dry clothes, can't use oven.
Management has pushed an internal operation issue off for so long, they now have to deny residence any sort of comfort in their own rooms. It is very hot in here, constantly....
Management thinks it is acceptable to refuse to provide tenants with air conditioning during April and May. They claim their system doesn't have the capacity, but have no problem keeping the weddings and events in the main ballroom cool. The management is simply incompetent and greedy. I'm sure delaying the capital improvements to the HVAC system enhances their annual bonus, but it sucks for tenants. Do not ever trust this place. Check out other reviews sites that allow pictures and you can see the actual emails they send tenants.
The Pennsylvanian is a great building to live in: the units are spacious with great floor plans and fantastic views of Pittsburgh. The staff are very helpful and professional. The common areas are kept very clean.
The Pennsylvanian for over twenty years has been the secure, comfortable apartment community with the highest quality of service that I look forward to
Lovely building, great location, love parcel pending, professional and friendly staff. I have resided here since 2017 and love to call living here my home.
I moved in 2 years ago. I love the staff, they listen to you and handle any problems you have. The property well maintained daily. Also Pet friendly. My place has a washer/dryer which makes life much easier. Great location! In walking distance to restaurants, work, hangouts, and city activities like festivals or sports events. There's not many other places that look this nice we with location this perfect. I always recommend to everyone to check them out, if they're looking to move.
I have had nothing but issues since I moved in and even emailed management several times with concerns and still have not heard back. Would never recommend this property to anyone.
Couldnt have chosen a better place to live! i love it here!
I've had a great experience living at the Pennsylvanian and I hope to have more.
I have lived at The Pennsylvanian since November of 2019. I really love living here. The staff here is very considerate, pleasant, helpful and extremely nice. I've only had a couple issues in my apartment and they were fixed quickly and thoroughly. It's a beautiful property. The staff does an amazing job and I really appreciate it. I would recommend these apartments to any one looking for a cool place to live. Thank you again! Great Job!...
The Pennsylvanian is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever lived in. Not only is the building beautiful and conveniently located for ease of access to shopping and food in Pittsburgh, but the staff is remarkably friendly and super helpful and attentive to the residents needs. I truly love living in Pittsburgh and at The Pennsylvanian.
A beautiful place to live, with excellent maintenance and staff...

The Pennsylvanian is a great choice for an apartment in the city. The building is historic which makes it beautiful. The kitchens and bathrooms are fully updated and the entire apartment just has a home-y feel. Downstairs there is a self-check out snack market which is something I haven't seen at other places and it so convenient when you're craving something specific. The location is perfect because it is located next to the Greyhound station so it is connected with several major port authority bus lines in the area. It's really a no-brainer to live here if you're looking to live in the city.
