Property Ratings at The Pines
My family has lived at the Pines for the past year and we are very pleased with our decision to live in this community. It is both quiet and convenient to shopping in the area. The management team has been very pleasant to interact with and recently we had a maintenance issue that was resolved to our satisfaction the same day that we called to report the issue. We feel that we get the best value for our money and would recommend this location to others.
I rented a townhome from MLJ Investments which is now Hale Development. Right off the start I felt hesitant when they asked me to leave my deposit check in their personal mailbox. No receipt, no proof that I would have dropped it off. Maintenance is poor. Had a refrigerator that kept defrosting and freezing the water inside the freezer. Freezing my food to it. Water also leaked down in the refrigerator part below and eventually onto the floor out for the front door. Property manager, Kevin, is unprofessional. He speaks to you as if you know nothing. He provided no pre-inspection checklist when we moved in so we could note any damages. Leaving you wondering if you'll get any of your deposit back. Lastly, he's very slow or completely unresponsive to calls or text. The walls are very thin. You can hear your neighbors very clearly. If you can put up with these things then the property will be fine for you. We got by. The property is nice and well kept.

We are very pleased that you were happy with the cleanliness and condition of this property. It is very important to us to maintain and improve all of our properties on a continuing basis. Just this past year we have put new roofs on and repainted all 15 buildings at our Pines location. As for putting rent checks in any mailbox, we are sorry for the miscommunication as that is not our policy. We clearly state directly on our business mailbox to not leave rent checks there and would not recommend leaving checks in personal mailboxes either. We have also started issuing pre-inspection check lists per your feedback. Our Rental Management has changed and Kevin is no longer with us. If you have any outstanding issues that have not been resolved to your satisfaction, please let us know immediately. Our top priority is your satisfaction. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your business.
My husband and I have lived at The Pines in Ankeny, IA for over five years and are so happy to be a part of the community. We are in a ground floor unit with attached garage which makes life so much easier since my husband is wheelchair bound. Our 3-bedroom unit is spacious, the craftsmanship is excellent and the property is expertly maintained. We hope we never have to move!
