Property Ratings at The Pines of Cloverlane Apartments
I have far too many complaints about this place. The show room apartment they let you tour is far nicer than the apartment building you'll move into. The hallway of my apartment has stains all over the walls and carpet that nobody has tried to clean up. The hard wood floors to my apartment had water damage from when I moved in, so the floor caves in. When I first moved into my apartment, the lock to my apartment door broke and I went to the office to get help to get back in. I was locked out for 4 hours before management called someone to come and fix it. When I asked to call a locksmith, everyone from the office continued to just pull on the door handle thinking it would magically open and told me, "you're frustrated? we're frustrated too." instead of calling someone to help. I put in a maintenance request to fix my dishwasher when I moved in, and someone didn't come until 3 months later. My heat to my apartment wasn't working all winter so I called maintenance, and they claimed they fixed it, but my apartment was still 50 degrees in 20 degree weather. When maintenance came to fix this, one of the maintenance guys tried to ask me out. The front door to the apartment building doesn't open all the time with the key. The door gets stuck and I end up locked out until someone from the building hears me trying to get in and comes out to open the door for me. Save your money and don't come here.

DO NOT RENT HERE!!!! Would give zero stars if I could. There is no maintenance staff whatsoever. Even the regional director told me that the complex currently has no property manager and no maintenance manager. You can submit as many tickets as you want over months and then contact the office several times but still NOTHING gets done. The place is falling apart. There is a leak in my apartment that hasn't been fixed for months. The last leak was in my closet last year and it took over a year for them to fix it. I couldn't use the closet for that time due to all the mold. There is an insect problem every year which they also do nothing about. This year there is earwigs everywhere, last year there was black crickets literally falling out of the vents in my apartment. There is a crazy amount of dust because they have never cleaned the air ducts, hence the insect problem also. The garbage overfills the dumpsters every week and goes all over the parking lot/ponds. The apartments are so old that the doors are literally splitting in two (they won't fix that either). Everything is broken in the apartment, there is an endless list. You will absolutely regret it if you move in here. I'm moving out ASAP.

The least compassionate, inattentive and money hungry place I’ve lived in Michigan. The office will email residents almost every week about new charges their expecting of residents but remain unattentive to the property. There’s dog poop on the property that’s remains for seasons. Trees and branches fall and maintenance does not clear it for months. Maintenance does not ice the sidewalks often during snowfall so be careful. Their management office is extremely unhelpful. If you have no other choice for a place to live and are considering this location: ASK questions but just make sure to read all of your lease because the employees at the Pines will not try to help you! In my last rent, after communicating with employees at the pine to ensure I did everything correctly, I was charged an extra $200. When I called to get some help and understanding, I was told from the manager and an employee “well it wasn’t included in the 60 day notice form and I can’t sit and walk through things with people when they want to move out”. I don’t believe it’s a lot to ask for compassion and an ounce of empathy in a space that I have lived at and paid rent to on time each and every month. This was probably one of the worst living experiences I’ve had in the state of Michigan. For clarity on subletting (if you’re wondering) because the lease is not clear: They do not allow subletting.

Staff of nice, my apartment building has no current issues and if it did I believe the apartment complex would take it seriously. I have not had a bad experience with anyone here it’s great so far !

If you're happy, we're happy! Pines of Cloverlane wants all of our residents to have an excellent experience, so we’re delighted that you are enjoying our community. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
I started off with a very optimistic attitude coming here. Staff was nice and helpful and the community so far has been nice. When I moved the floors were renovated so that was awesome. I got a new sink in the bathroom, but they chipped it. The dishwasher is broken and doesn’t drain. I don’t know how that passed any inspections before I got the keys. Worst of all my patio door can’t lock, and there’s a major draft coming in which worries me how I’m gonna heat the place when it gets really cold. So little by little I’ve been more and more disappointed. The buildings are older, so I understand not to expect perfection, but it’s been over 2 weeks since I moved in and all of these issues are yet to be fixed. I’ve felt forgotten almost.
Had mold and mice in my apartment. I have lived in 3 apartment complexes and The Pines will be my 4th. They have all been great until this one. Management nickels and dimes you every chance they get. They charge you a fee for using their online rent payment system (in order to pay them rent, you need to pay them a fee!). I tried to pay with a check to avoid the monthly fee and they said they only accept online transfers. I move out this Sunday and I am sure they will try to charge me for something. Management is very unwilling to negotiate any (of the many) fees. It seems as if management hopes they can nail you with more fees. Their “soft credit check” during application turned out to be a hard inquiry. Upstairs neighbors were loud and got evicted, which was nice, but it tells you something about the community. There are many small things that add up when you live here. To wash and dry your clothes is $3 (I can swallow that). The dryers are old and can’t dry a medium size load so you have to pay more to have two dry cycles and your clothes still come out damp. It’s constantly a headache and I can’t wait until Monday morning.

This is the worst place I lived. Close to the I-97, extremely noisy at night. No one come to fix the washing machine and dryer. The staff there has bad attitude.

The size of the apartment was great for the price! But other than that, there were a lot of issues. None of the windows were sealed so there were a lot of issues with pests, and there was one instance where the kitchen area flooded. The heater and infrastructure was poorly maintained, causing the bedroom to be 10 degrees cooler than the living room in the winter (be ready to spend extra on your gas bill!). The water also takes at least 5 minutes to become even lukewarm when you want to either take a shower or wash the dishes (and your water bill!). The bathroom ceiling will also quickly build up mold (within a day or two) because mold-resistant paint wasn't used to paint the bathroom. The dryers they have also requires at least 90 minutes to dry a single load of clothes. To top it all off, the maintenance team is very unreliable and frequently completes work orders without ever completing the work. So be prepared to open at least two for the same problem! If getting a cheap price per square foot is your only priority, then this might be the place for you.

Love it here. Quiet, beautiful, safe property. Staff is excellent. Staying for years to come!
Lived here two years new management only took aminitys away an still raised rent.Upon leaving at the end of my lease, The Pines tried to nickle and dime me on the way out.My recomdation ,stay away there are way better options for less and ones that won't give you such a hassle.
HUGE stink bug and flea problem ! This apartment complex is terrible. Over the summer I had an infestation of stink bugs by which up to 20 bugs at a time were blanketed on my walls and ceilings. Like something out of a horror movie. Everyday I had to kill them all just to find new ones the next morning. The bug spray company came in 3 times and it did not help. Maintenance came and closed up gaps in between my front door and windows and that didn't even help. My dog also got flees from the previous owner and I kept calling maintenance multiple times to spray and they did but I still have fleas. I've had to spend hundreds of dollars on dry cleaning every piece of fabric in the house each time they came to spray. The worst part about all this is they will not let me out of my lease! They expect me to live in these conditions for the full lease term. I've lived in a lot of apartments and this one by far is the worst. Expect to be stuck no matter what happens here as they will not uphold their deal to provide a clean and livable space for you. Management is arrogant and unaccommodating.
Stayed here for almost 2 years with my grab. We noticed mold halfway through the second year. We were repeatedly ignored when we tried to report it to the leasing office. Eventually we said we were getting our own mold inspector so they sent maintenance to paint over the mold the next day. This apartment complex is covering up a Major mold problem. If you still live here, contact a lawyer immediately.
Geese everywhere! Watch where you walk and step because goose poop everywhere! You can't enjoy a quiet walk without the geese coming after you. Good luck with people not smoking weed in their apartments and making yours smell! Dealt with that for two years and got no help from the main office. Loved the place when I moved in but over the last year and a half management went down hill. Have asked since September (the weekend the lights went up) for them to fix the light post and when I moved out at the beginning of May it still wasn't fixed. The pools are always cold even in the winter. The staff in the office is not pleasant any more. They tried increasing rent $100 a month because they think it was worth it for out dated fridge/stove and dishwasher. Mold around the tub/shower all the time and they said that is a normal thing in every apartment, that isn't supposed to be normal! Constantly picked up other people's dog poop so my dog and I wouldn't step in it. I'm sorry my friends moved here and are stuck for their lease. Was a great place 2 years ago, not any more. They have such a high turn over rate. The weekend I moved, 12 others moved just in the 4 buildings around me..... JS. look elsewhere first.
Management is absimmal, the maitenance is lazy, in fact one of them lives in my building, and after his dog made a mess on the buildings floor. He left it in the carpet for all of us to sell. You may wait awhile if you need maitenance help. The roof was replaced by some cheap and unprofessional workers who shattered my window, it took them 2 weeks and emails to get them out. As you can see with all the avaliable apartments, people don't like living here. The fees will come randomly and double check everything as they don't know what they're doing and you may be overcharged. I'm looking forward to moving out. Also they just upped the rent by hundreds...without renovations...I have to dispose of at least 10 bugs a day. They say its pet friendly...yeah but they don't do anything! Some months you get a newsletter, others none. I really don't get the management. I've often wondered if just hire anyone that can breathe and use a pen.
The pines welcomes pets and thinks of fun events for them every season and holiday which our puppy enjoys so much.
Free parking, multiple pools. Laundry units in all buildings with laundry lounge. Overall a solid place to live.
I moved to an apartment, after 18 years of home ownership. I wasn't expecting much, but my kids and I loved the apartment, it's surroundings (mature trees, ducks, geese) and the staff. It is one of complex's original apartments, from the late 70's, so it's not a designers showcase. The carpet was in great shape, refrigerator was new, stove was pretty recent. The models that they have "modernized" are much more stylish and the cabinets and counter-tops are nicer. We liked the feel and location of this one so we took the older look. The grounds are kept up pretty well, and I have realized that having snow shoveled, for you before work, is pretty nice. There is a indoor/outdoor pool and volleyball courts that we have taken advantage of. There are also dog runs, and tennis courts that we haven't used. The staff is very helpful, and it's kind of nice to go in and chat with them, and they seemed to really understand, that customers that are listened too are happier. Being and older apartment, there are issues that come up, and the maintenance team is great. My service requests have always been responded to the next business day, in a more than satisfactory manner. I just had my first opportunity to re-up and I did.
When my boyfriend and I were looking to move closer to work and graduate school we wanted a place close enough to campus but quiet enough so we didn't feel like we were living in student housing. Not only is this location perfect for a very short and convenient 7 minute drive to EMU, but it has surpassed our expectations. The staff in the leasing office are wonderful. Who really leaves a hand-written thank-you card and new laundry hamper in your apartment as a gift for when you move in? The Pines do! The setting is really quiet and the amenities are perfect. Pools and tennis courts, a nice little workout facility, and internet lounge. Lots of wooded areas to walk our pup and the laundry lounge is the perfect place to study while multitasking and getting some chores done. All of our neighbors have been really friendly and our apartment is absolutely perfect for us! All new appliances in our updated model and the balcony is a great place to relax in peace and quiet. I really couldn't be any happier here and highly recommend the Pines of Cloverlane!
The apartment is spacious and comfy, the surrounding area is Beautiful and serene ,the heating and cooling system works great to cut it short its a very nice place to live in .
over all the living is nice here at the pine im just not a big fan of the workers in the office they are not efficient and do dont call you back when they say they will and maintenance is terrible they dont want to fix anything... they always make excuses until you call them back a billion times.
I love the location of the Pines. They're perfectly situated just outside of Ann Arbor down a quiet street. The campus is beautiful and they do a nice job of maintaining it. There are many apartment options to choose from and the prices are a lot more reasonable than living in AA. My only complaint is the geese around the apartments. They can become quite vicious.
Place is very decieving. Close to a lot of places and nice scenery but once you get settled in you start to see things. Their maintance car is a 1999 beat up Ford Taurus that looks like someone stalking you. Lots of thefts, 4 motorcycles stolen including mine in a 1 year span. Dressers fell apart, kitchen light fell and shattered all over my food, and there are cockroaches in the apartments. This place has a lot of potential, but bad management. I advise looking elsewhere.
This is my first non "student" apartment, and I couldn't be happier. The management is so kind and they really go the extra mile. It makes my day to come home from work to my peaceful home- and my cats love it, too!
I moved into The Pines about two months ago. My rent is only $750/mo, and it is a 2 bedroom! They've got two onsite pools, one outdoor and one indoor/outdoor, a lounge, rec room, workout room, basketball/tennis courts, children's park, dog park, laundry rooms, etc. The secretaries at the office are always pleasant, and they tend to my needs promptly and fashionably, whenever something arises. The apartment itself is clean, spacious, and beautiful, with a balcony overlooking the street below. The other residents always greet me with a big smile and a friendly "Hello!" I really have no complaints. I'm happy to be here as it is a fantastic and diverse place to be!
The beautiful area, super friendly and helpful staff and quiet apaetments make this area a great find!
