Property Ratings at The Pointe at Cedar Rapids
The apartments themselves are okay, but you can tell the buildings are aging, and things break down more often than they should. Noise from neighbors is also a problem, as the walls seem pretty thin.
Every apartment I lived in had bad stuff but these apartments are unique they have 1 and 2-apartment townhomes with secured entrances and also the place is very secure and the staff is really friendly. And also some apartments are modern and some are not but that is better and also bigger trash dumpsters and nice yards.
I was so excited to live here and loved my apartment for the first two days. Day three my neighbors cigarette smoke started coming through my bathroom vent stinking up the entire apartment. Management did nothing. I was told during my tour and when signing my lease I qualified for a free month only to be told when trying to redeem it that I don't get one. They tried to extend my lease to "help" the mistake THEY made. I have 5 months left and I think I might be moving out early. Also, no one cleans after their dogs so there is poop EVERYWHERE don't wear nice shoes ever. Was told maintenance cleans it up...have never seen them. My building caught fire after it had snowed. No help with getting the smoke out of the building once we got the all clear and got told to "open a window" like it wasn't 30 degrees and since I can't miss work and have nowhere else to take them, I had to leave my pets there. I'm beyond mad and disappointed with this complex.
If your looking to rent here, you might as well just live under a bridge. This place has a horrible management and even worse residents. If you want to have people blaring music constantly outside and your neighbors stomping 24/7 then this is the place for you. You can try to contact management but it will be weeks before they get back to you and really don’t care about the problem they will just say deal with it. The worst place to rent in Cedar Rapids by far. Please don’t waste your time, wish i could give 0 stars.
We have been here almost three years and these folks have been nothing but kind to us. I recommend The Point to anyone looking for a great place to live. I don't understand these bad reviews. The staff have always treated us very well.
Wiring is bad and they won't fix it. Building hallway reeks of sewage. The apartment next door caught fire and my apartment filled with smoke and they wouldn't help with cleaning or allow us to move to another unit. The smoke alarms never even went off. I tried to .I've to a different housing complex because of all the issues here and they gave me an adverse rental reference because I didn't give 60 days notice, even though I told them I wanted out of this apartment many times. There was a shooting in the next building a few months ago, neighbors are loud and unruly, fighting in the hallway and parking lot which I reported to the office and I was told to ask them to stop. I wouldn't recommend anyone living here.
Management is horrible here! They do not care about their residents and are super rude. They all people to yell and scream at each other at 3am in the morning. They allow their residents to do drugs which the smell gets into other peoples apartments. There were a ton of car break ins but management didn't inform others until a month later so a lot of people got their cars broken into. There was a fire in the laundry place but they never informed their residents about it. I would not recommend this place to anyone anymore. They also do not fix things in the home property and are looking for anyway to charge or fine you with anything that they can. Not a good place to live!
They are HORRIBLE!!!! I rented the town homes from them for three years when you move out they try to charge you for everything even if you have the carpets cleaned and clean very well. I would not move in there if they were my last hope!! They lie to you when you as them about things and keep all of your rent payments because they don't.
Outside looks great, however the inside leaves much to be desired. I saw bugs, cracks and things poorly repaired. I went to ask a few questions on a Sunday and was thoroughly offended by the lady at the desk. She was incredibly rude and I can strongly say I would NEVER consider this complex.
Property Manager at The Pointe at Cedar Rapids, Responded To This Review
We are truly sorry that you had an unpleasant experience with us. Our leasing office is not open on Sundays, the person sitting at the desk is our pool and fitness center monitor. They are only here to monitor the residents using the pool and fitness center and do not have much knowledge about leasing one of our units. Again we are truly sorry you did not have a pleasant experience. Please feel free to contact our leasing office if you are in need of an apartment in the future as we would love another opportunity to show you how great our property is!
Pros: The apartments were recently redone and look great inside and out. The location is very good--close to 380, walking distance of stores, Noelridge Park, bike trail. Good amenities like a pool, gym, and party room. Cons: Beware of the clientele--check the police database for calls made to this location. Very poorly insulated, so energy bills run high. No sound-proofing so you will hear every sound your neighbors make. Management does not crack down on noise, or having many people living in an apartment. Amenities are often closed because of poor staffing.
Very nice looking apartment complex in a good part of town however when we moved in we kept seeing bugs and they were supposed to put us on the list for orkin but never did. Our doors keep sweeling because of the humidity ( we have 1 window air conditioner for the entire apartment but if we did that it would cost us about $200/month just in electricity. We have 3 fans constantly running for out animals but it is still very bad place to live with just the temperature being a factor. We also have a few people who live near us that constantly have the police being called on them. I am just not happy with living here. Cannot wait to move.
I was originally very excited to live at the Pointe. It's not horrible, but not as great as it seemed. Although its been given a cosmetic face lift, this building definitely shows its age in some ways. I loved the new carpeting & laminate floors. However, the floors squeak awful & you can hear every step above you times 10 & the conversations as well. The walls are really, really thin. The vents are all connected so I get to breathe the cooking or cigarettes of the apartment above me. I hardly get any water pressure when I shower & the toilet is super small. The landscaping, fitness center, pool & staff here are wonderful though. They are attentive & care about the residents. Great location too. Depends on what's important to you. For me it's a quiet, updated building.
