The name State College represents the city quite well. This suburb is home to the main campus of Penn State University, a prestigious university with a park-like atmosphere and historic architecture like Old Main, an expansive landmark campus administrative building dating back to 1930. State College is the ideal city for students, faculty, and staff of the university, as well as professionals and families. This suburb is home to an array of kid-friendly parks like Holmes-Foster Park, Orchard Park, and the Arboretum at Penn State. State College features abundant restaurants and bars off of East College Avenue in Downtown State College. Apartments, houses, condos, and townhomes range from affordable to upscale.

Property Ratings at The Pointe at State College
Gym wasn't fixed. Long term problems like gas turning off and stuff wasn't fixed. Apart from that it was ok. They are always understaffed. The manager never talks directly
Terrible. Mold since the air conditioner literally didn’t work, had to move out early because no one came and fixed it (they just said nothing was leaking and left) still charged rent after all that, unexplainable fees….
Everything was good. The management tries their best to help, and having a separate bathroom is also good. I think you will love living here.
Overall, a great place for students to live. A little overpriced for what you get, but it is nice to have your own bedroom and bathroom if you live in a 4x4. Staff is generally very helpful whether you visit in person at the office or through email.

This apartment complex has been amazing. When I moved in, I was welcomed with a smile by the front office staff and felt welcomed into my new home. Upon entering, I was very happy with my renovated apartment that had my own private room and bathroom for such a great price! I highly recommend anyone looking for a place to live to check out the Pointe State College!

Just moved here as a takeover for the spring semester and couldn't be happier with my experience so far. The office staff was very helpful and the process was fast. The apartment was clean and ready when when I arrived. I'm excited to start my life at the pointe and take full advantage of the amenities here!

Lived here for the past 2 years and I tell all of my friends to come here as well. It's a great place to live and you get a bunch of amenities for really cheap. Any issues I had with the apartment maintenance fixed in a reasonable amount of time. I'm happy to be staying here another year especially since my place will be renovated.

There are a box of trash and broken Amazon packages left in hallways for months. I reported the issue to the front desk. No one takes care the trash and the broken packages left in the hallways. When you need maintenance, students and the manager who work in the front desk always tell you to submit an online request. If you ask them when the problems can be fixed, you will be told that they do not know. No one ever come by to your apartment to fix the issue. You need to fix it by yourself, even if it is a fire alarm and a broken lock.

The Pointe has great amenities and is in a great location. I really enjoy being so close to stores like walmart and target, while also being close to campus. I’ve never had any issues with the catabus which is really speedy about getting you to campus. They are super pet friendly and there’s a lot of green area for your pets to run around! They hold a lot of events as well which really makes this a great community.

Hello, Thank you for your review and feedback! We are so glad you have enjoyed your experience at The Pointe.
My first summer staying at the pointe, and about to be my second fall. I love it here. I live with four girls, and we each have our own room and bathroom. Our own space. When I think of off-campus housing, I think of independence. My neighbors tend to mind their own business, but I've made some friends during my time here either at the pool or even riding the bus back. Plus, the office people give out free food sometimes. Sweet hehe

I have lived here for 2 years and have never had any problems at all. If anything breaks, the maintenance staff always fixes it in a timely manner. Also, the amenities are great. The free printing is awesome and the pool area is really nice in the summer. I also really love having my own private bathroom.

Hi, thank you for your kind review; we are happy to pass along your comments to the team here at The Pointe at State College!
The Pointe is easily the best property on Vairo Blvd. Private bathrooms are one of the best aspects about The Pointe. Property is clean and offers a variety of amenities that are always well cared for. Weekly food events are fantastic and the staff members are always friendly and courteous. I've been here for two years and wouldn't have it any other way!

The apartments look great and clean for people to actually live in, and there are even renovated apartments with newer and more modern furniture. On top of that, the pointe is located close to Penn State campus and to other shopping areas like Walmart or the famous Chik Fil A. The clubhouse has study and exercising accommodations for whatever suits your fancy. It’s a nice place to live in

Hi there, thank you so much for your positive comments about The Pointe! Have a fantastic day!
No internet in the fall, 2 Mbps at most, and it took till January for it to be upgraded. Still, shotty and will go out now and then. Maintenance doesn't care and outright denies issues or blames it on you. I had issues with A/C and heat because of how the apartment was built. Overall you get what you pay for, a cheap apartment.

The internet sucks, goes down a lot despite just being upgraded. Inconsistent heating, pot holes everywhere (they say can't be fixed till spring, ha), and just an overall poor quality apartment
Property Manager at The Pointe at State College, Responded To This Review
We do apologize for the issues we have had with out internet. It is now up and running a fantastic speeds. Since the upgrade it did go down once and that was this past Saturday around 2am to 5am. If you are having outages other than that one time I would suggest contacting BOINGO and putting in a request to have your internet in the apartment looked at. Pot holes cannot be fixed until the spring. We subcontract the repairs out and that is when all road repairs are done. Even PennDOT cannot do road repairs until the spring. I don't understand your comment on inconsistent heat. Everyone has their own thermostat in the apartment and it's electric heat. If you are having a problem with your heat please put in a work order so maintenance can take a look. We know that some apartments have been very lived in. We are a 20 year old property and are currently scheduling upgrades to our four bedroom apartment. If there is something in particular wrong with your apartment please stop into the office and we will be more than happy to help you.
The Pointe has a great rental price and awesome amenities, but the parking situation is a mess. I got my car towed when it was sitting outside of my apartment, and I had to pay $170 to get it back. The amenities only work half the time, there’s a equipment in the gym that’s been broken since I got here. My key deactivated almost once a week, and I end up getting locked out. If you desperate for a decent place, the Pointe is good, especially if you have pets. But I would look elsewhere.
Property Manager at The Pointe at State College, Responded To This Review
I'm sorry to hear you are having a bad experience. You may have been parked outside of your apartment but if you were illegally park (ie. handicap parking, parked in crosswalk, covered parking with wrong parking sticker) the towing company will tow. The piece of equipment that you say is not working. Have you spoken to someone in the office? We may not be aware or there may be a part on order. Some residents do have issues with their swipe keys. We tell residents to make sure they keep them away from other cards with the magnet strip. If this is not the case I would suggest putting in a work order to have your lock looked at. I am glad to hear that you like that we allow pets. We do love our four legged friends. If you have any issues you would like to discuss, please stop in the office. We would like to help you.
The apartments are filthy, and are clearly not cleaned at all after the previous tenant leaves. Management is quite rude, and very unprofessional. Walls are super thin so you hear everything. Bugs get into every apartment. All appliances are in terrible shape. YOU CANNOT DRINK THE WATER. The water from all faucets is undrinkable so you have to buy water bottles. Even the shower water is cloudy and leaves you feeling unclean and has an unpleasant odor.
I did not like living at the Pointe at all. They do check ins almost constantly, meaning management comes into your apartment and into your bedroom. It feels violating personally as I do not like strangers in my living space, especially when I am not there. It's just weird. The roommates I have had have been extremely crazy and weird. The one kept reporting me for things I was not doing. Management literally threatened to call my mother on me. One female manager acts like a child when dealing with serious problems between residents and typically explodes and yells and walks away without actually helping the residents solve anything. The other managers either act ignorant about anything and everything or they act like there's nothing they can do about any situation. Another roommate had an abusive man living with us. Even though he was not on the lease, the Pointe basically allowed him legal residence. A lease is a legally binding document and they refused to take into account the safety of their legal residents who are signed onto leases. They do not care about their residents. If I had any of the number of problems I had living here at any other apartment complex with any other landlord, these actions would have been handled so differently. They are very focused on money here. Utilities are very high. Apartments are also pretty dirty. A number of my roommates and friends experienced mold in their apartments. My roommate got a respiratory infection because the apartment and carpet was so dirty and moldy. The Pointe claimed they had cleaned it. Overall, the management is really a joke. They are useless and don't seem to know anything. Living here is also very expensive and it's definitely not worth it, especially for the quality of the places. Could be a lot cheaper. Leases are also very difficult and complicated to get out of, and there are a number of large fee's that put a lot of burdens on students with low-incomes, which are most students.

Hello, I am very surprised to hear of your dissatisfaction here. I know you have had problems with your roommates in several apartments and we have moved you and your previous roommates. In fact, one of our managers saw you on the property and asked how things were going in your new apartment and you indicated that everything was great. If this is not the case please stop into the office so we can discuss any other issues you are having.
Living at The Pointe has been incredible so far. I moved here after having a bad experience at a different apartment complex and found the staff much more competent and friendly. The pool and gym are also nicer than most others I've been to, and the half-court basketball court is awesome. The best is having my own private bathroom that I don't have to share. It's been my best experience with housing in State College so far, so I renewed for another year.
I absolutely love living here at The Pointe!! Last year was so great that I am renewing my lease for this upcoming school year. Plus they are doing a whole bunch of projects to fix the issues I have here. The apartment was clean when I moved in and as long as you keep it clean the staff never bothers you. And they are so nice when you do have a maintenance request. The gym is nice for lifting and they are even making more improvements this summer I heard. I cannot wait until next school year!!
I have been living here for less than a month and I love it. It isn't super loud due to parties, the building/area and apartment were all clean. Everyone is lovely in the office. I love it here much better than where I was before. I love my roommates and getting switched over was so easy and effortless. I don't like that the rent is due on the 1st but if it isn't there on that exact day they start charging you. Even if your check is postmarked before the first. Other than that I love this place.
The Pointe has a model apartment built off the main office that looks nice and spacious with lots of natural light, different couches, etc. Do not be fooled. This Model apartment is of much higher quality than the apartment you will move into, and I don't say that with just the decor. First disappointment was that The Pointe only gave us one day to move in before school starts. But we dealt with it. Upon move in I was the first of my roommates to arrive at my apartment. I opened the door and was immediately hit with the stench of cigarettes and urine. Our dryer exhaust was not hooked up, the stove was black as well as the oven and inside of the microwave, we were missing shelving in our fridge, lightbulbs were burned out, there was cigarette ash on the table, and the carpets had black stains all over them, broken toilets, etc. So we spent most of the day we should've been moving in hiring carpet cleaners and cleaning the black grime off of everything. The Pointe has posted quiet hours. You have to be quiet by 11pm on weekdays and 2am on Fridays and Weekends I believe. My roommates and I were fine with that. Until we moved in. The Apartment above us would play loud bass that rattled our windows, light fixtures, and more, until 5 in the morning, Making it hard to do homework, or even sleep for class the next day. We dealt with it for a month before we finally snapped and went to the office to complain. The office would shrug us off every time, claim to do something, then never do anything. We eventually all just learned to tune it out, or schedule our classes late so we could do homework in the mornings. After all these facts aside. The Pointe was a decent place to live amenities and bus system wise. The busses are packed but that didn't bother me much. All in all, we probably never would've moved out and renewed our lease if The Pointe had lived up to fixing the problems we had when we moved in, and the noise complaint. The noise complaint is the main reason why we ended up leaving. I will say when walking around late at night, most buildings seemed quiet, we might've just gotten unlucky with the building full of kids who don't go to class and party all day and night. Pros: Internet Speed is 50mbps! Comfy when you make it your own. Amenities and Events. Bus System is Great Cons: Management Apartments are a bit dated Noise Levels
I love my apartment. Living with 2 of my best friends but yet have my own bedroom and bathroom for priviacy. Another big plus is the washer/ dryer right in the apartment. Love having a gym and pool to use also. It's a wonderful life!!
We moved our daughter into her apartment on 8/22 to an absolutely filthy apartment. She shares a 4 bedroom apartment with 2 new roommates and one "resident" roommate. Apparently because there was a resident in the apartment at the time we moved my daughter, The Point does not clean the apartment for new residents. As a result, my wife, daughter and one of the new roommates spent 2 1/2 hours scrubbing and cleaning the pigsty the Point calls an apartment. They need to modify this policy and notify any year round resident that they need to allow the cleaning service to enter the apartment at some point during the summer to prepare new residents for their move-in day. For the amount of rent we pay for my daughter, The Point should be embarrassed by the conditions of their property and consider some sort of compensation for our time, additional cleaning supplies and efforts to do what they should have done weeks prior to our arrival. THIS WILL ABSOLUTELY BE A ONE YEAR LEASE FOR US, WE WILL NOT BE COMING BACK TO THE POINTE.
I have never seen anything so dirty! Management isn't any help.
My apartment is nothing like the one they showed me. It is dirty, small, and misrepresented. I would not recommend to other students! Also, they will make your first rent payment due in mid July, however, they will not allow you to move in until two days before school starts (August 22) and they do not prorate for the 21 days you are not there in August. Carpets: have burn holes and paint on them Furniture: Chair is unusable, couch has paint on it Kitchen: counters have burn holes Screens have holes in them. Bathroom: walls have cracks and water damage They are suppose to have cable provided, however, you have to find the cable station and get the boxes and set everything up yourself (problem when you don't have a car) Internet works good There are no "private patios" as stated on website. For the price of these apartment I do not recommend! I will not be renewing my lease and can't wait until this one ends!
This apartment complex houses mostly any individual affiliated with the Penn State University. Its location is convenient for its walking distance from big shopping centers to get what you need quickly and most importantly, it has its own bus stop right near the entrance to get you straight to campus and downtown. There is plenty of parking all around the complex and different rows of visitor parking for when you will be having company. The scenery is beautiful with a decent sized, clean outdoor pool, indoor halfcourt basketball court, well put together gym that contains the basics, billards and ping pong table with all the components needed for play, and tanning room. Although a slight lavish lifestyle it presents, the room and amenities price in total I feel is not reasonable for all that you get. Specifically in the 2 bedroom/ 2 bathroom layouts, there isn't much space in the living room nor bedroom areas, especially when you are paying way more than the apartments with more people who still get their own room and bath. It makes way better sense to go for the 4 bedroom apartments seeing as you would be getting more living space for your buck. Being that this is a college town and complex mainly of college students, the night life here during weekends can get crowded. But even with that, it doesn't get too crazy or disturbing. And besides that, the maintenance crew is always reachable and able to correct any maintenance issue within a substantial amount of time. I would only recommend this apartment complex to responsible college students who are not too concerned with monthly billing being a little above standard college affordability.
Solid place to live. Affordable, reliable amenities and very nice looking place. The cata bus system is also very reliable and it only takes about 8-10 minutes to get downtown. All in all I enjoyed my year spent at the pointe.
This is a decent apartment complex separated from downtown State College that provides a nice retreat for anyone looking to escape from large crowds. There are nice amenities, including a pool, basketball court, and private gym, while the apartments themselves house 2-4 people, with each tenant having their own individual bedrooms and bathroom. Getting to campus is typically a 10 min bus ride (which passes by frequently through the day) so travel to the Penn State campus is simple. Unfortunately, the walls on the building are not thick/soundproof, so expect some noise from housemates, neighbors, and even people from the pool/basketball court (assuming you are close). Overall its a nice retreat while still maintaining a easy commute.
