There's much more to Champaign's sister city of Urbana than you might think. It is a lively college town, home to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, it has a long and fascinating history, and it is family-friendly and beautiful. While it is usually tied to its next-door twin, Urbana stands out on its own -- Downtown Urbana is the city hub, home to Market at the Square, a farmers market that began in 1979. The historic downtown features historic architecture, bike lanes (and plenty of bike racks), sidewalk cafes, period lighting, and a wide variety of shops and restaurants.
In addition to the university, Urbana is home to the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, a research institute located on the university's campus. The neighborhood attracts those with children, thanks to its top-ranking schools, and it features beautiful parks, such as Crystal Lake Park and Meadowbrook Park.

Property Ratings at The Pointe at U of I
From Aug 2021, the bus shuttle is out of service frequently. They would tell you at the last minute saying sorry please take a bus. Don't live here if you will teach courses and don't have a car. Also, the maintenance is not responsive since Aug 2021. One of the building gate is broken for months and no maintenance team is going to fix this. Let alone anything broken inside your apartment.
I’ve been at the Pointe for some time, and I’m really satisfied. The apartments are nice and furnished, full kitchen, couches and coffee tables, desk and chair in the room, memory foam mattress. Large windows so good sunlight. The nest thermostat is quite practical. The gym is pretty decent and The staff is pretty amazing, quite accommodating and super friendly! Definitely recommend!
The Pointe is excellent University of Illinois student housing! It was convenient for going to campus and supermarket by shuttle. Fitness and recreation are ready for using all day long. The manager, the assistant students and the driver are very responsible and willing to help the residents.
I highly recommend the Pointe at UofI! I wish I can give 10 stars, so here is my best attempt ???????????! I have truly enjoyed living here the past 3 months! The team has done an awesome job making this place home and moved swiftly to rectify any concerns I had! God job team! I really appreciate Amanda, Luke and Brittany who always provide a friendly greeting in the morning and evenings! Amanda is a great manager, she is always cheerful and in good spirits. Brittany is so sweet, she embodies great interpersonal skills and goes beyond her duty to ensure your needs are met. Columbus, Ben and Ian are always helpful too with maintenance and maintaining our awesome spaces! A special shoutout to Columbus, who has made my life at the Pointe even easier, he really cares about the residents, does an amazing job with renewing your apartment and this man has a great sense of humour too! The Pointe has done an exceptional job with helping me to have a home, not just an apartment in my transition to Champaign-Urbana from Canada to study medicine! My unit has a great view and I've enjoyed my ability to customize my space. If you are interested in living here please reach out! I am so thankful to be a tenant here and plan to only live at the Pointe.
Have lived there for three years. Except one time someone shoot in the parking lot (nobody was injured), everything is fine before they changed managers. Now they will charge you move-out cleaning fee and damage fee NO MATTER YOUR APARTMENT NEEDS IT OR NOT. What they do now is to charge as much as they can. This ruined my entire altitude towards living there. I even introduced four of my friends living there this year, and now I am 100% regret for that suggestions and have to tell them to keep this nonsense moving-out experience in mind
Never live at here. The manager is so mean. You cannot end the lease even you can pay them two more month rent. And they over charge for the damage fee, which is extremely unreasonable. I promise, do live at there! The pointe U of I.
The most disgusting apartment in Urbana-Champaign. They overcharge tenants after the move-out. It is neither market price, nor reasonable price. I would pay whatever they charge me as long as they can provide the receipt of fixing the "damages." But now they simply tell you the balance, and ask you to contact them if there is any questions. If you want to live here because the rent is low, you'd better think it twice, because they actually want to make money for the so called damage fee. Before the lease ended, they sent out a notice saying that all tenants must clean the carpet by a professional cleaning company, and provide the receipt for the services, otherwise, there will be a damage fee incurred. It means, even if you have a good carpet cleaning machine, and work hard to clean it, they will still charge you, because it is not "professional." This is absurd. When we moved in here, no one told us about it. In fact, the carpet was dirty at that time, and did not seem to have been cleaned by any professional cleaning company. Then how can they require us to do it?
The rent seems to be very nice at the first glance, however, the staff here always use different kinds of ways to charge you. They charges me 50$ cleaning fee for A HAIR left in my sink when I moved out (yes, that was what the staff explained to me when I argued with her). And they also charged me the electricity fee for the days before I moved in. So, DO NOT LIVE HERE!
No matter when you move in the first month, you will have to pay the full month rent for the first month. Ridiculous. Also, the rent used to include $50 electricity and now it is $30 only. Basically, they are trying to use different kinds of ways to increase the rent.
Do not live here. The management is terrible, the location is unsafe and the apartments are gross.
The Pointe is a nice place to live if you are an undergraduate student looking for a comfortable, safe environment. I am a graduate student and would not recommend it to other graduate students. It can be noisy and is not condusive to the type of learning environment needed for a grad student. On another hand, the management sucks, if you need a problem corrected or something fixed, don't expect to get it fixed without constantly following up and nagging the management.
