Property Ratings at The Quarry
Where do I start . The pool got shot up causing it be closed for 6 weeks in the summer . Half the units AC is out causing an insane delay in anything else that needs repaired . Our dryer has been broke for a week and a half with no estimate as to when it will be fixed . Will never sign another lease here

We assure you that we are doing our utmost to resolve these issues promptly and efficiently, including the pool repairs, AC units, and your dryer. We would appreciate another opportunity to improve your living conditions within our community. Please allow us to make things right - we guarantee a more satisfactory experience moving forward.
Haven't lived here that long, and have had nothing but problems. The day I got my keys, the kitchen had rice on the floor and in some of the cupboards, yellow stains, AC was making a weird squeaky rattling noise. Put it into the form that you fill out if there is anything wrong. Dishwasher wasn't properly installed and water overflowed out of it, and water was all over the floor and under stove. As I took the stove drawer off to get the water underneath, there was garbage stuffed underneath the stove. The rice and garbage is probably the reason for the next issue. ROACHES AND LOTS OF THEM. Before an exterminator could come in (they only come in on Tuesdays), I caught over 30 roaches. 5 rounds of treatments every other week, and basically having my entire kitchen and bathroom in my only bedroom, over 50 roaches. Not sure if they treat other apartments, but I guess I have to wait and see if I see anymore. Bathtub faucet shot off, and couldn't use my shower for 2 days. Microwave had buttons that didn't work. Maintenance put a different microwave in. I wasn't expecting a brand new microwave, but if you are going to use a old microwave, at least clean it before installing. It had food crumbs on the bottom and soup stains. AC is on a fritz. One minute it will work normal, then the next it will act like it's on but no air coming out until my apartment is 5-6 degrees above, causing my AC work even longer and harder to cool down the apartment. Which is probably going to spike my electric bill. In 3 months, I have had 5 visits from the exterminators and 4 from maintenance, with a 5th on the way to replace a coil on the AC. Also, I was supposed to have a fireplace. There isn't one. Talk to my leasing agent, she says she will talk to management to discuss getting my rent taken down. It did not go down, because apparently something in their system says it doesn't have a fireplace. My paperwork says it does. I asked for new updated paperwork that says that for my safekeeping, both to my leasing agent and manager, I haven't gotten anything. Recently just had a sit down meeting with the manager to discuss all these issues. Basically, the response was, "We're sorry, we'll do better next time." Like seriously, that's the best you can do. That isn't that reassuring. There shouldn't be a next time.

I'm truly sorry to hear about the numerous issues you've experienced since moving into your apartment. The state in which you found your new home is unacceptable, and we understand how frustrating it must be to have these problems persist, especially the roach issue. It's equally disappointing to hear about the poor response from our management team - this is not the level of service we aspire to provide. Your concerns regarding AC functionality and missing fireplace features are certainly valid, and should have been addressed timely and effectively.Regarding documentation discrepancies concerning your fireplace, rest assured that this will be looked into as it would only be fair for you to have clarity on your lease conditions. We realize saying "we'll do better next time" might sound empty at this point, but please know we genuinely strive for improvement based on feedback like yours. Again, I apologize deeply for all of these inconveniences.
This was by far the worst rental applicant process I’ve ever gone through for an apartment. After trying to get in contact for almost a month of calling, leaving messages, emailing, and even resorting to texting through the website because I was not able to come in during hours and I was getting no response, they say the application was rejected. This was never communicated in any form and I was told we need to be making at least FIVE times the rental rate, which was also never communicated in the rental process. Extremely unprofessional on behalf of the rental team to not pick up the phone or check messages.

Scheduled a tour a week out. Showed up to the leasing office and it was locked, no lights on, no one answering the phone. Sign stated it opened at 10:00. We were there from 1230-100 in hopes someone would show up for the tour. No luck.

We're sincerely sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. It's truly disheartening to know that we missed our appointment with you. We understand this has caused frustration and assure you steps will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
Nothing but problems. Washing machine was lined with black gunk. Smelled like cigarettes. Clearly not thoroughly cleaned before move in. Our AC went out and did not get fixed for TWO MONTHS. I understood a lot of other residents also had the same issue with their AC going out, but this is unacceptable. Our dishwasher started leaking and has not been fixed for going on three months. Multiple maintenance requests have been put in and I keep being told they are “waiting for a part”. Three months. Our maintenance requests are marked as complete without anyone coming to our apartment. Very unhappy with the management of this community and would not recommend anyone move here.

I have never had such a negative experience with an apartment complex. When looking for a new place to live I was drawn to The Quarry because it was in a great area and my original contact with the apartment was super nice. He was down to earth and very welcoming. It was a breath of fresh air and I was so excited to move in. But WOW was that further from the truth. Right off the bad when I moved in (In JULY) and handed the keys I was told “hey btw there is a standalone ac unit in your apt because the air conditioner is broken but it will be fixed in a few days we are already working on it” come to find out that my apt was over 90 and absolutely disgusting and it looked nothing like the apts I was shown. The worst part was that it is almost impossible to get ahold of anyone in the office to discuss the matter. They NEVER answer the phone and play dumb when you go in and talk to someone. They kept saying the order was “back ordered” and just played the blame game for months. I ended up having to stay at a friends house because it was so unbearable! Finally after it was “fixed” new problems arose… the dishwasher broke, the washing machine broke, spiders, plumping issues and more ac issues and thats just IN my apt!! Don’t even get me started on the over flowing trash, broken mailboxes which lead to lost mail, un plowed snow, so much ice and mounds of dog poop. To say I have given up on this complex is an understatement. The plummeting was never fixed and maintenance refused to believe there was a problem even though you have to plunge the toilet to get it to flush. To top it all off the ac is yet again broken and the office is saying its “unsafe to fix because the temperature is still dipping”. We live in OHIO where week to week in the spring we can go from 30-80 degrees. So I just have to live at someone else’s home when its nice out. Long story short this place is a NIGHTMARE I wish I had the time, energy and money to take them to court. So take my advice and stay AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE! Trust all the reviews saying to stay away, I wish I did!!!

Thank you for taking the time to share your insight from your stay at The Quarry. We're sorry that these issues have caused your positive feelings about our community to lessen over time. Please be assured that we take resident feedback very seriously and work toward every opportunity to help improve our resident experience. We do know that it is frustrating we were unable to work on ACs in April but that is due to the weather changes and it could further damage the ACs. Kindly reach out to us at thequarry@solomonorg.com to discuss how we can regain your confidence and turn your experience around. We hope to hear from you. Thanks again.
The apartment was wrecked when we moved in. We had several problems and took them weeks before they came out to fix them. (They charge you for these fixes without telling you either) We had our oven break about 2 months before we moved out and they didn’t not fix it until after. We only found out they fixed it because they had not taken us off the apartment and emailed us letting us know it was done. They also started blocking my husbands number because he was calling to find out when it would be fixed. If he called it would go straight to voicemail. But if I called right after they would answer. Rude and inconsiderate management. We left on military orders and they made it very difficult.

Cecily, thank you for taking the time to share this insight about your stay in our community. We're sorry that you departed with unpleasant feelings toward our customer service and our community as a whole. Please accept our sincere apologies that your time here wasn't reflective of the comfortable, welcoming living experience we strive to cultivate for our residents. Please be assured that we follow the lease agreement when assessing any fees and policies. To review your account and discuss your feedback further, please give us a call. Thanks again.
This is a great place if you like empty promises of the building being cleaned, resulting in spider infestations. On top of that, if you enjoy you home smelling like you live with chain smokers, this is the place for you. Nothing tops off my arachnophobia like a migraine from smelling cigarettes 24/7 :) 10/10 don’t recommend.

If I could give negative stars, I would. The property leveraged Covid as an excuse to shirk responsibilities. During an 18 month lease, I never once got to use the pool and had to purchase a gym membership elsewhere because they refused to reopen (despite the reopening everywhere else across the city). I also had a TON of maintenance issues. Most notably, The Quarry maintenance team broke my AC, then didn’t fix it for EIGHT MONTHS (despite multiple calls and work orders). They also charged me for fixing my garbage disposal (without telling me), claiming I put chicken bones and orange peals down the drain (both of which I don’t eat). I often got charged for two garages (when I only had one). They are unethical, lazy, liars. Go literally anywhere else.
THE WORST. Heat didn’t work when moving in. AC didn’t work when it warmed up outside(& they never put in a new air filter). Now our washer won’t drain/spin and is growing mold and smells FOUL. Management hasn’t done a thing other than tell me they are understaffed and can’t do anything about it.
Do not live here. On the outside everything looks nice they offer incentives, pretty amenities, and kind attentive staff in the beginning however once they have you in a lease they are unresponsive, rude and do not fulfill work orders in a timely manner. I have mold growing on all windows and in the water heater closet. The AC has been leaking for the past year and has recently gotten worse (to the point of dumping a gallon of water a day on the floor) yet maintenance has not come to fix it in over one moth. The roof of my building has had a hole in it for three months but they said they would fix however with the rain storm today water started leaking in through my light switches in my bedroom as well as the smoke detector on the ceiling. I placed countless work orders that state they are being fulfilled by staff to the office but no one ever comes and no one ever follows up. Call Emergency Maintence about the leak and still no one comes. When I try to address situations with the property manager they do not listen or not empathetic or even sympathetic and do not take responsibility for any of the matters. In addition to the property manager was rude and actually side and laughed at us when we were addressing some of our concerns with the property maintenance. You spend around $60 a month in trash fees yet, the trash is always overflowing on all of the dumpsters. Currently they have around 150 units without air-conditioning and they say they are too overwhelmed in order to fix it. My air-conditioning stopped working last summer and when they came to fix it a month later they opened my air filter that had at least 2 inches of dust on both side of the filter and much more debris in the ac unit. We also have issues with Pests like rodents in the apartments and birds that nest in stairwells and defecate all over without ever being cleaned up after. I have screenshots of countless emails proving this and photos I’ve taken of my apartment as well as some of my friends.
The office management has poor attitude and they are mean. The place is dirty as well because there are tons of garbage.
Sty far away from this place. You want mice running through your walls at night and inside of your apartment? Live here. You want to have a leak with your water tank that causes mold/mildew and the office not care? Live here
The management has no clue what they are doing. They are sleazy and try to nickel and dime you for everything. This is the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. Also, “luxury” is definitely NOT a term I would use to describe this place. Rodent & bug infestation is horrible. They don’t care about you at all. Once you sign the lease, don’t expect to ever hear back about your concerns or issues.
Property Manager at The Quarry, Responded To This Review
I'm truly sorry you had a bad experience. All charges are disclosed at the time of signing a lease so there are no surprises. Pictures of our interiors are clearly shown on our advertisement sites. We are a national company and are ethical in our business practices. The Customer Experience is our top priority.
This place specifically targets younger post-college kids into thinking "luxury"... an absolute joke. Maintenance? What maintenance?? Our screen door alone took maybe 4 trips from maintenance to fix. When we moved in we were UNAWARE we were being moved into a unit under construction. After months of asking the leasing office of what was going on with the exterior unfinished bedroom wall (with minimal response) the neighbors had informed us we were moved into an apartment that had HALF BURNED DOWN previously, wasn't finished being renoed, and took them another 2 months to finish the wall. Cars broken into ALL the time, no increase in security. So many "community fees"... community electric, community gas, community cleanup for dogs... which of course were NOT made clear would be an extra $100-150 tacked on a month. What I thought was going to be a great experience here turned out to be a complete nightmare. Don't make my mistake.
Property Manager at The Quarry, Responded To This Review
"College Students" are not the most common demographic making this claim false. We use a variety of marketing tools in order to reach a diverse group of potential renters. Until recently, and up until about 2 months ago, for the safety of our teams, residents, and their guests we had not been entering occupied homes. We have followed the recommendations of the CDC and Governor to only operate essential parts of our business and only entered occupied homes to prevent a potential emergency situation or when a repair was considered an actual emergency. We are back to business as usual and currently only have 32 outstanding service requests, in a community having 642 apartment homes. And lastly, along with many other communities, our residents do pay a minimal share of common area utilities. This is disclosed on Welcome Letters before residents lease, in addition to in the lease at the time of move in.
1. Spider infestation: I alerted the management to the problem along with pictures and it took weeks to get taken care of. No one could use the railings on coming up to my apartment because of how disgusting it was. I had to keep a broom by my front door to clear the cobwebs every single time I left and returned. 2. Poor communication: When the website to pay rent was down, I had to pay rent a day late and received a notice on my front door of possible eviction. 3. Dog bags: We went months without dog bags. I used my own, but many did not and it was disgusting. 4. Unsanitary: The gym was without wipes for 6 weeks. This is completely unacceptable. 5. Trash charge: I think it is absolutely ridiculous for each apartment to be paying almost $50/month for trash. 6. Office Hours: Office hours have randomly changed and people have closed early. Therefore I've been unable to speak to people in person when needed. 7. Hardwood Laminate: It is constantly pealing up and I've alerted management, a guy came glued down one and didn't believe me when I said it was the entire floor. 8. Professionalism: Having worked within the real estate leasing world, I am very unimpressed with the professionalism displayed by the office since the moment I received my keys my first day.
I've seen bad reviews removed from this side. The latest review says 10/26/19 but I KNOW I've seen other bad reviews passed that date. The rating of this apartment is also 4.5/5 but MOST of the reviews are 1 star... My personal experience.. I thought the person living above me had a tiny dog... I saw him today, a quite friendly man I've seen a few times, and I asked him.. he said he doesn't so I asked about a cat and he said he doesn't have any animals. What does this mean? The tiny scattering footsteps I hear in my ceiling and walls are probably mice. There's plenty more wrong with this complex, but I am just blown away by this..

We do not have the ability to remove reviews. If this were the case, I'm not sure we'd be keeping this review. We provide weekly pest maintenance for all our residents. If you feel you have a pet issue in your home, please contact the Leasing Office. Pest issues are not common at The Quarry and we would like to keep it that way, however you can see how difficult that might be if resident's aren't letting us know. Please contact our office so we can help you.
Ron was very personable, professional and courteous. He was knowledgeable about the many amenities in The Quarry Apartments, which was not disclosed to us by the first leasing agent that handled our sale.
I've lived here for about a year and everyone I know complains about the same issues - poor communication with management and even worse maintenance. If there's any maintenance issue, from no air conditioning in 100+ degree weather to no hot water, it will typically take around a week minimum to resolve. I would not reccomend living here unless you get an amazing deal and also have friends to bail you out in the case that your apartment becomes uninhabitable.

I have been here since October 2019. I hope you're experience has been quit different since then. Communication is very important.

My husband and I were so excited to move to The Quarry! It is in a great location and the property has so much potential. However, we have lived here a little over a month and have had nothing but issues!!! It was already a bad sign showing up on moving day and our apartment was not ready. Maintenance issues still needed to be resolved and the maintenance team was scurrying to paint the inside of the cabinets (took 4 hours to dry so we could not unpack our kitchen items), fixing a broken toilet and applying touch up paint on the walls as we are trying to move in, an hour and a half behind schedule because they were unprepared. A couple days after we moved in it was the week of very heavy rain. A window in our bedroom was leaking so bad we could not sleep. In the morning we woke up to see completely ruined drywall from all of the water. Mold started forming quickly after. We put in a request to the maintenance team 1 month ago and it has not been resolved. We basically do not even enter the room because of the smell from the mold. A couple days later our washer breaks... it took over a week to receive a new one with constant calls to the office. It seems like no one is the office cares about the issues we are having and it is a very unwelcoming environment upon entering the office. The management here does not seem to care about residents, all the cheaply built and broken things inside peoples apartments or the property at all. There are bugs everywhere inside and out, along with dog poop and poorly up kept landscaping (except by their office of course). I so wish we were not locked into a year lease so we could get out!! We would not recommend moving here.

I moved into the Quarry in the summertime and have had noting but issues and problems since i've moved in. I want to start this with the fact that it took management and their maintenance team and entire 28 days to fix my heat in November-December. I was never checked on by management in this time and had placed countless calls, emergency calls, and even tried reaching the Solomon Organization regional manager to break my lease to move to somewhere with heat, to only be directed to voicemail every time looking for answers. It seems like they just don't care about the people who live here and will ignore you until they weasel out of what they need to. This place is a joke, their excuse for the entire delay was that, "they are a new management team and they are trying their best." Management also messed up my initial move in date and recorded it wrong on their end so I had to move in a week later than expected (good thing I still had another week at my old apartment). Do not move in here, I didn't take the warning signs from others and wish that I had. Honest truth, this is the first negative review i've ever been this inclined to make and I hope it helps others steer clear of The Quarry.

I've been here since Oct 2019. No one that was here then is here now (for reason). I can tell you we have much higher standards and expectations than described in this review. I'm curious if you still live here. I would love to talk to you to make sure everything in your home is ok and make sure you are not having this time of experience with the team at The Quarry today. This would never be acceptable with me or my team.

I have lived here for three months now. When I moved in, the roof was leaked whenever it rained. It has been three months of notifying maintenance and management, and the roof STILL has not been fixed. When you send them emails about an issue, they ignore it and do not respond. It has made it to the point that I am going to have to take them to court in order to get my roof fixed. According to other tenants, their issues are also being ignored. If you want to live in a well kept, functioning apartment, do not rent from the Quarry.
The office management is very friendly, however not helpful at all. I have had a broken washer since July 29th. It has literally been over 4 weeks and no one has even come out to look at it yet, let alone fix it. I have a friend who also lives in the complex and somehow they moved in 2 days after my work order was submitted, had someone come out to look at their dishwasher, and it was replaced last week - Not sure how theirs took priority over mine when I have lived there much longer and submitted before they even moved in - I have contacted the office in person at least once, if not twice, per week in regards to finishing the work order. At this point it is ridiculous how long it is taking. I love the area, the apartments and amenities look very nice, but would NEVER recommend anyone live here. If anything breaks (and it will) they will not be proactive or responsive.
I’m not sure where to even begin.. the place is falling apart at the seams and if the office even answers the phone to take your matience request it will be at least three months before they fix it because they are so backed up. This includes SERIOUS issues. BUGS GALORE and theres nothing they can do about it. The people working in the office are incompetent and all seem to hate their jobs- but can you really blame them? None of them have college degrees. They will nickel and dime you for everything. The pool is disgusting but if you’re drunk enough it’s fun. The complex itself has a young professional vibe, which is cool. It’s cheap for Grandview, but you get what you pay for. Save your sanity and go to the View, Grandview Yard or somewhere in short north. This place is trash.
I’ve lived here 3 weeks & it’s been a nightmare. Countless problems with leaks and mold and a slew of other maintenance problems that the management company told me would be fixed before I moved in but we’re not. The people working in the office are incompetent—giving inaccurate information and not filing maintenance requests. It is like pulling teeth to get maintenance to come fix a leak or any problem for that matter. Even when they say they are on their way to your unit, they don’t show up. I regret moving here so, so much.
Awful place to live. The management is horrible! I have black mold growing all over my apartment and ruined my things, but they did nothing. They won’t return my calls, texts, or emails. Do not live here
My boyfriend and I moved in recently and had nothing but problems with our apartment. After the new management company tried their best to fix all of the issues, they offered to move us to a newly renovated apartment with the same floor plan without bumping up the price! We are so happy to be here and the new management really wants to make you happy. It’s a great community with beautiful scenery! Not to mention the newly renovated apartments are a HUGE upgrade from what the previous management did. I have a good feeling about the new management company and I see great improvements coming to the quarry! Not to mention the property manager and the new maintenance supervisor are extremely helpful and knowledgeable!
I had a TERRIBLE experience living at this place. Even with new management it was as if nothing had changed. Rude employees. No one EVER wanted to help me out. For the price and the atmosphere not worth it. Take my advice and look other places. This was the worst experience i have ever had. The countless problems within my apartment including the roof leaking and it taking a month to fix. I called the emergency number and was told bc i was on the 3rd floor they could not help me. They gave out my phone number without my permission and i was only referred to as my apartment address never a name.
New management group (Solomon group) came in this year and has done nothing to improve the place. Raised rent without making any improvements, 3 weeks for maintenance requests to be taken care of, multiple packages have been stolen off my porch. The Solomon group could care less about the residents. It has gotten so bad that current residents are walking around with petitions for how poor the new management is. Avoid any Solomon properties if you want a decent renting experience
This place is awful! Property was recently sold to new management and they’re way in over their heads. A/C has been broken for 3 weeks now, living in 85 degree weather. Guy came to fix it, said he’d be back the next day and never came...tracked him down and he was told by the leasing office it was fixed by someone else which was an outright lie. I was told that they have 600 a/c units and of that 400 are inoperable and need to be replaced but they can’t afford to do that. They’re more concerned about renovating the interior and raising the price than they are about their current residents. And don’t be fooled, just because the interior is updated doesn’t mean anything else is. They paint over mold, put new floors over warping base floors, and the outside stairs to some of the buildings are bound to give out any day now. Anyone looking to move here beware - not worth the price and not that great of a location.
I've lived in the same unit for 3.5 years now and have had few issues. Any maintenance issue was resolved within an acceptable amount of time -- usually 24 hours or less. Every person I've dealt with in the office, whether in person or via phone, was helpful and friendly, and the community itself is well-maintained. My only issue is the gates -- shortly after I moved in, the one near me stopped working and was open all the time. After much back-and-forth of "it's fixed vs not fixed", my gate code no longer works for guests. As a related side note, I will say that GPS (for services like Uber) is awful; certain roads don't show up, it takes them the wrong way... (You would think Google would have it together by now.)
My husband, dog and I have lived at The Quarry for going on 3 years. We moved to a larger apartment this year, and based on this experience, I can tell that new management has their stuff together more than the other managing group. Our first apartment had awful carpet (that should have been replaced before we moved in). This time when we moved, we noticed a tiny stain on the new apartment's carpet. We made one mention of it and before we moved in, it was replaced. Totally new carpet! Both maintenance and management have been responsive of our needs. We enjoy living here. Good location. Yes, it's on the "expensive" side, but we couldn't find a place that allowed dogs in the locations we wanted for any less.
Please do yourself a favor and avoid this complex if at all possible while on your apartment search. I had signed a lease with The Quarry leasing office for an apartment, placed an expensive payment down to reserve the apartment, and today (ten days before I was supposed to move in) I received a phone call from a realtor at their office informing me they had signed another lease with the current resident today and will no longer be able to offer me the apartment promised and then tried to pass off a "comparable" apartment to me, one I visited to see how comparable it was, which was NOTHING like the apartment I signed for. When I told them no they told me there was nothing they could do. This was after multiple days of them sending me leases with incorrect information and even one lease where they attempted to raise the price (after making a move in date correction they had messed up on) hoping they could increase my monthly costs without me noticing. This is not the first time they have used a bait and switch tactic on me, they did the same when showing me apartments at our walk through. This company reeks of unsavory business practices and sleazy scams. While beautiful on the surface there is a monster that lurks below the surface of that lake and it's The Quarry leasing team.
It is true, they never respond to maintenance requests. It is always a new excuse. Now, we have been trying for over two months to get the deposit they say they owe us! Every call is a different story, every time there is someone at 'corporate' who has to cut the check or respond to an email or resend the request. It will come next week, it will come after the first, it will come......The truth is, it have never come. They hope that young people forget about their deposit and they get to keep it. They are TERRIBLE even though they sound nice on the phone.
Unless you love bugs...especially spiders- steer clear! There are bugs everywhere. You cannot go outside at dusk or you will get swarmed and bitten. The entire building is covered in dead and live bugs and spiders. I have found bugs in my shower, sink and even spiders in my bed! Also, whenever it rains, water comes into my apartment along with the black mulch. I cant keep up with it. Be sure to visit on a sunny Saturday during summer. If you like a "frat party" atmosphere this is the place for you! Dont plan on swimming in the pool. By the time the drunk guys and girls get through with it, it is green by 4pm!
When I moved in I was attarcted by the seemingly nice facilities, pools, and landscape. It was a trap. I have only lived in my unit for 7 months and now have 10 maintenance orders for multiple damaging leaks around my apartment. I woke up on Valentine's Day to water pouring from my kitchen ceiling lights. Anywhere it is possible for the ceiling to leak, it will. I am NEVER given a a solution to this problem or any sort of compensation. I have heard so many horror stories about this complex since I moved here and now I'm living it. Everytime it rains or my neighbors turn on their water I live in fear that my apartment will leak. To say the least this lease has been a huge mistake and an even bigger waste of my hard earned money.
Pros: Attractive setup around the lake Close to Grandview, Short North, Downtown Fun, creative layouts and building facades Nice fitness centers Nice pools Good access to paths for running Cons: If it can leak, it will. Windows, faucets, and pipes all have constant issues. Where there are leaks there is mold. Tons of it. Bleach is your friend here. Your closet, corners, and ceiling make an excellent home for the dozens of spiders who share your space. You can clean the webs and kill the spiders every night and every morning you will wake up to more. Where there are spiders there are a ton of centipedes. When it rains in the spring, it'll look like the carpet around the edges of your apartment is moving. It's not. It's the ants that all came in to avoid the rain. Maintenance stays really busy - expect a week or two to fix a problem, no matter the severity however if you catch them driving by they'll come in right then to take a look. Mosquitoes and crane flies galore. They look great trapped in the spider webs on the light outside your front door, all over your patio, and all over your car. Gnats. Don't run at dawn/dusk. SUPER INCOMPETENT OFFICE WORKERS!!! They're all really nice. Just don't expect much from them, including answers to calls and emails. The gates rarely work and even when they do, they're left open during the day. Creepy guys dumpster diving will whistle at you walking by and yell gross things at you. Smoke alarms will go off every time you boil water but not when you fill your apartment with smoke when you burn food, incense, or candles. Extremely expensive utilities. They're all electric, no gas. Setting my heat on 55 in the winter and having 3 lamps, a surge protector with cell phone charger and laptop charger plugged into it, and doing a load of laundry and dishes once a week got me on average a $187.42 electric bill. Drains are bent right after the opening so you need to clean it out after every shower if you have long hair, otherwise it'll back up next shower. When you move out, it will take months to get 6% of the deposit back. Why 6%? They charge you for replacing the shower heads, stove top drip pans, carpet due to 'fading and discoloration,' and other things that anywhere else I've ever lived has been deemed normal wear and tear. They were already planning to remodel my unit since everywhere else has been remodeled since I moved in 2 years ago. Trash is always overflowing and reeks if you live near it.
I lived at The Quarry for 2 years and would have continued living there if I still lived in Columbus. The apartment itself was a nice open floor plan with newer appliances and great views. The white walls and carpet gave the place a very clean feeling. Large bathrooms, mine in particular with a walk-in closet, are a very big plus. Each unit has a deck/patio area that is great for evening sitting/reading and enjoying the view of the center lake. Parking spaces are numerous, and its location is great for easy highway access, you can basically be anywhere in the city in 20 minutes. After moving from the campus area I definitely appreciated the quietness of the complex as well as the open space and easy parking situation. I did not fully take advantage of all the amenities offered such as 2 pools, sand volleyball court or the outdoor grilling areas but the on site gym was very adequte and you could always find an open treadmill. The only con I can come up with during my time there were the amount of spiders that lived in the stairwells and decks. I'm sure it was due to the proximitity to the water and wooded areas but there were many. A couple rounds of Raid spider killer to the deck took care of most of the problem. I never saw any of them inside my unit so it was a very easy obstacle to get around. I would recommend this complex to anyone looking for an apartment in Columbus that does not want to be crammed into an apartment in the downtown/short north/campus area, but still wants to be close enough to enjoy all the city has to offer.
I have no real complaints about the apartment complex itself- there are a lot of bugs, the apartments aren't super nice, but rent seems reasonable (to me, at least) for what it is. The management is truly AWFUL. The world's worst customer service (honestly management just ignores you if you complain) and so incredibly disorganized. Once, my husband walked over to the leasing office and dropped off our rent check. A couple days later, we have a notice on our door that we haven't paid rent and will be evicted? My husband goes back to the office where one of the employees says she remembers him coming in and "we must have just lost the check." No apology. Really comforting that the leasing office takes care to secure personal information. One of many instances that we experienced. Find someplace else to live.
Definitely have mixed feelings about this place. The apartment itself is beautiful- quality appliances, flooring, open floor plan. The outside is beautiful as well, situated around a man made lake! Location is wonderful too, just outside grandview, my favorite town/suburb in Columbus. It is not too loud or rowdy for the most part, and neighbors are friendly. The downside is the management and maintenance. I feel like this is a problem at many complexes but here it seems worse due to the overwhelming number of apartments. This place is HUGE and they need to hire more staff. I have had maintenance issues that I called about be forgotten or extremely delayed which is very frustrating. It also is extremely impersonal, so if you're looking forward to a personal renting experience don't live here. They are very disorganized and we have gotten extreme notices on our door that alarmed us (meant for someone else) on several occasions. The other downside is the bugs. Being situated on a lake, I understand that bugs will be a problem, but they deal with it every year and nothing is done- no spraying or anything. And I mean extreme amounts of bugs. There are always piles of dead bugs lining the stairs and it is horribly disgusting and irritating. They get in the apartment every time we open the doors from the evening until late morning. Not meaning to get caught up on all of the bad things- it really is a nice place to live overall. I love my apartment, I just wish a few things would change!
