Property Ratings at The Quarters East Lansing
NEVER LIVE HERE. There are many apartments in East Lansing, this one may be cheap, but it is the worst quality apartment in the city. Cockroaches are throughout the apartment, and maintenance takes a minimum of 3 days to respond to each request. The inside of the apartment is cheap, with outdated appliances and dirty walls/floors. The pool and gym are never open. You will get fined hundreds of dollars for playing a speaker at normal volume. The staff is very rude to every resident. They are unwilling to resolve issues and lack empathy towards the residents. The place is an absolute mess and, I wouldn't be surprised if they go out of business soon. Please avoid the pain and never live in this apartment.

I felt comfortable allowing my daughter to stay here. It’s a safe and secure atmosphere. I would recommend to ALL.
Very friendly community. Made you feel like you’re already home and it was just the tour!!!!
I really enjoy living here! The main site apartments are super big (only downside is that the kitchen and bathroom are a little smaller, but the living area and bedrooms are huge!). The staff is so sweet and the amenities are nice, especially convenient that they recently added a printer! My only drawbacks are that the guest parking isn’t on site and my apartment wasn’t very clean when moving in. Overall, the apartments are very nice for how low the cost is.
The staff is nice and the apartments are more than worth the price!
I love it here. It’s super close to stores yet it’s in a quieter area of town. It has an awesome pool, fire pit, and clubhouse which is sweet to hang out at on summer nights. I recommend it here!
Absolutely loved living here this past year!! So sad to leave but I’m moving out of state for vet school ): They’ve made the move in process easy, smooth, and efficient. I enjoyed living here this year and am so sad to leave!!!
Lived here this past year and staying for this upcoming year. Units are nice and spacious, I like how close to the walking trails the main site is, and taking the 26 to campus has been a breeze. I’ve been to the clubhouse lots for studying and working out. Honestly, no big complaints other than the flooding problems in the parking lot in the spring, but I haven’t been really affected by this.
I currently live at the Quarters Cottages and I absolutely love it! I have my own bathroom and walk in closet with a spacious room. The fully furnished living room is a great added bonus! Would definitely recommend living here if you want a nice space with only a short distance from campus (there is also a bus stop across the street). All staff is helpful and super nice & amenities are awesome.
I love living here! I’ve renewed my lease :) The people in the office are so great and I love the amenities available. The apartments themselves are spacious and maintenance is always quick to respond when there are issues.
Rent is relatively cheap, especially for how nice the apartment is and all the amenities we have. About a mile north of Grand River so it is a bit of a walk for classes, but biking or bussing is convenient. All the trails around make for a nice view and good for walking/running during free time. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a deal and doesn't mind being a little off campus.
The staff are friendly and hard working. They respond quickly. They do a lot!
The apartments are beautiful, affordable, and have updated appliances. I loved the location
I came here during my sophomore year, and my first time ever living off-campus. Spacious room with my partner and very helpful staffs! Bus stops right in front of the apartment, and comes in 10-20 min during weekdays. One downside would be not having enough parking spaces time to time, but still a very good apartment to live in.
The Quarters has been a great place to live. It is extremely affordable & what you get for the price is great. The office does a lot of activities & is always so kind when you go in. My only reason for not giving the complex 5 stars is due to the parking. There seems to be a lack of parking & I often have to park away from my building if coming home after 8pm. Other than that, I have loved my time at the Quarters & would recommend it to anyone.
My roommate and I have lived in this complex for our second year and we’ve enjoyed the pool, game room, gym, tanning beds, free parking, friendly neighbors, great staff, and fun community events!
I really like living here, I’ve renewed my lease for three years in a row now. Good staff and maintenance, close to campus and Meijer, pretty cheap rent. Parking is not great though. No guests can really stay the night unless they leave their car at a different location where the “visitor parking” is.
I love the quarters! All the amenities are great & the office staff is amazing :)
This apartment is great and I’ve had little to no issues with it. Maintenance is super quick when you need them, although the washers and driers may not be in unit, they’re always free and open to use, and the staff is great! You have a bus route to campus right across the street! I would recommend living here
I enjoy living here despite the different sized rooms. It’s very noticeable the difference in unit and it could be remodeled for more equity. Maintenance responds fast if you contact them. PARKING SUCKS. It is impossible to have guests over, so do not plan on having your apartment be the spot to hang out. The parking makes this place not fun and wish I lived somewhere else. They will send the tow truck. This could all be solved with assigned parking but they don’t do that. Clubhouse is nice and they refill it often with free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Also they have events for the residents.
Just 10min away from MSU’s campus, picking to live in the Quarters was a great choice. There’s a pool to use in the summer and a clubhouse to use year-round for studying, playing pool and arcade games, and working out. The only thing I don’t enjoy is parking - living at the top of the hill is a pain if you want parking near your door, and sometimes there’s no spots in the complex at all and the towing company has to be called. That would be my only complaint if you have your own vehicle - and guests will be towed (so guest parking is half a mile up the road). Rent is cheap though!
Can’t beat all the amenities you get for the cost. Apartments are nice and modern with a great clubhouse and amazing staff!
Great quality, maintenance is on TOP of things when you put in requests (had a hot water problem fixed within hours!), and close enough to campus to take a bus but far enough to not get campus traffic as much. I would recommend this place to anyone!!
Good price for a lot of space and a club house. My only complaint is parking.
Overall the apartments are nice and have a lot of space, the amenities are fantastic, and the staff is very kind and helpful!
I have lived here for 2 years and I love it! It’s a great spot and has lots of great amenities as well!
I’ve lived here for two years and just renewed my lease to live here a third!! It’s perfect for the value and price. You get stainless steel appliances, and laundry is FREE! Parking is included in your rent as well, and so is internet and garbage. I couldn’t recommend a complex more.
I have lived with the Quarters multiple times and have had nothing but positive things to say! The staff in the office is amazing and they genuinely care about their residents. They are always so helpful and try to find the best/quickest solution possible. The maintenance guys are always helpful and fix everything very quick. The apartments themselves are very spacious and reasonably priced. I would recommend living here to anyone!
I’ve lived with the quarters multiple times and have had nothing but positive experiences. Every time I’ve had to go into the leasing office or call they have been nothing but kind, helpful, and understanding. The maintenance team has always been quick to fix anything and the office goes above and beyond to make sure the residents are happy and comfortable. The events are so fun and they really care about their residents. The apartments are very spacious and reasonably priced for everything that is included. By far the best place to live in East Lansing!
Really love this apartment! Great atmosphere, large apartments, absolutely love the amenities and staff!
Super close to campus, good bussing system. Very spacious apartment and plenty of amenities.
The staff is super friendly and helpful! The apartments are very spacious with lots of closets which is so great. Only complaint is that the kitchen and bathroom could have more storage.
great property, looks just like photos very spacious
Apartments have very nice amenities and they’re a very reasonable price! Apartment layouts are spacious and very nice! Great place to live & staff is very friendly!
This apartment comes with nice amenities and it's an affordable price! Apartment layouts are nice and spacious! Great place to live!
We were charged for a damaged appliance upon move-out, even though that minor physical damage was there and communicated by us when moving in. Even after notifying them of their mistake, the charges were not been waived.
This is my favorite place to live in East Lansing. The office staff is always very friendly and I love the giveaways and events that they host! My roommate and I have also had a great experience with the maintenance staff and I would recommend this property to anyone that wants an affordable, nice apartment in the area.
I've been a resident here for 2 years now, and its really not that bad. The two bedroom I'm currently in is in great shape. Vinyl floors, appliances that work and seem to be recently put in, it's pet friendly and maintenance has never failed to respond to a request. They are very respectful of your space and give notice of inspections, what time maintenance will be there etc. SimpleBills, their utilities service, is super easy to use and the internet doesn't go down. That being said, on the third floor during HEAVY rainfall, we did experience some leaks, but it had rained for nearly a week straight and they couldn't patch the roof until it was dry, and they were always very timely about warning guests of possible flooding. In my current year, we did have a giant flood during a big storm. Abbot was under construction so we received all the runoff from the road, and some kind of pump at the front failed and started draining into our lot and it was BAD-Like flooding up to the hood of your car bad. One of the two washers in my building has been out of service for a couple months but hopefully they'll fix that soon. Snow removal is an issue, we had that giant storm last week with and I was unable to get my car out. However, barring acts of nature and perhaps some more upkeep on the actual structures themselves, I've lived for two years relatively happy and for a pretty good price.
There are many reasons why you should not live here! 1. The parking lot flooded, totaling many residents’ cars, and management did NOTHING about it. No money, nothing. Now all they do is send texts before a “big rain event” urging people to “park high up,” but those spots are limited and you will get ticketed if you are not parked in a parking spot, even if you are just trying to keep your car safe. They also recommend parking in another complex a mile down the road, but with no way to get back besides walking in the rain or having someone else pick you up? 2. People here are LOUD. This might change by year, and it is a college town, but people have been playing loud music or partying on weekday nights AND mornings. 3. The apartment is not designed well. The windows are not placed for good light or solar gain, so the apartment appears dark and cave-like even in the day. There is also a support beam in the middle of the living room. 4. Management told us when we moved in early that they would fix our scraped-up wall, then later said they would not do it without a fee or that we would have to do it ourselves. We called multiple times and got different answers. 5. The complex uses an outside utility service instead of just having tenants pay utility companies directly, resulting in an extra $5 charge for using the service... every month. I say don’t live here, especially with the poor design of the parking lot to get flooded like it did! There are many many complexes around MSU; choose another one.
The Quarters at East Lansing have an abundance of floor plans & units options to pick from. If you do not like a particular apartment, no worries because they have more than one. Most units are updated and close to campus!
Unsafe, sisters car got tires slashed and others got their cars broken into. STILL NO CAMERAS WERE PUT UP. Had to buy my own security camera. Management emails you daily about problems. It's like living at home with mom and dad. There has been Leak in one bathroom for over a year, still not fixed. Good luck with parking! Or having a guest park here. They will be ticketed and towed ASAP
Do not live here. Apartment was completely updated, but when we moved in it was not clean and there was paint splattered all over the floor. The mirror in one of the bathrooms had a hole right next to it in the wall with pencil markings. The parking lot floods every time it rains. There is dog poop everywhere throughout the complex. The staff have changed the parking policy 3 times since I moved in. Making it almost impossible to have a guest come stay. You have to use a third party company to pay your utilities, which costs you an extra $5 a month.
This place is the worst. Management is horrible. Fair lease terms. Promotional video is a hoax. Also, do not go to The Quarters II if you expect a clean place; lobby and laundry room are very dirty.
The one bedroom apartments here are not only extremely large for one person but at inexpensive. First months rent was free my deposit was only $50 and app fee was $15! I wish I had of moved here sooner! It's close to campus and they are both dog and cat friendly!
