Property Ratings at The Racquet Club Apartments
I have lived at the Racquet Club Apartments for around 5 years now. You used to get a membership to the club next door, but that is now closed. There is almost an issue with an elevator being out of service per week, but you simply get used to that. The latest problem is that maybe the trash compactor broke, and now there is actually trash backed up in the trash chute spanning many floors, and at this point the trash in the chute has started rotting, and smells just like how you can imagine. Because of this, the maintenance staff need to leave the garage open in the basement to quite literally air out the smell of garbage. What that means is overnight, the first floor, and elevators smell like rotting, decaying garbage. Yum. Now I would be rating the property 2 - 3 stars, but we're going on week 3 of backed up garbage, with no statement or announcement from the office staff. I also am NOT pinning this on the maintenance staff of the building, they are doing everything they can and they're excellent at what they do. I'm sure the excuse is going to be "Oh Covid-19". Speaking of Covid, the office is now closed, but there are still office staff working it, but a sign that states residents must call and not physically speak with them. Awesome eh? To sum it up, the building is declining, and Covid has sped up the process significantly. It's a shame.
I tad bit too expensive but cheaper than other places. Near the mall and other shopping stores, well maintained but do to age thing break, will get to know the maintenance staff well. Plus side cannot hear the other tenants, no dogs but cats are allowed. You will know what everyone is cooking near you as the smells escapes their apartments. Plenty of parking front and back bus stops close by, so are doctors and hospitals.
The Racquet Club is one of the best deals in apartment living that I have ever experienced. For a rental fee that is far more reasonable than many places in the Pittsburgh area, you can live in a spacious unit with easy access to the PA Turnpike and I-376. I thoroughly enjoy the free membership to the Club Sport & Health located next door much more than I liked the small fitness rooms that other apartment complexes I have lived in offered. Many shopping and dining options are within walking distance of the building which is incredibly convenient for days that I just want to stay in my community. For those days that I want to go and explore the rest of Pittsburgh, I can easily hop on I-376 and reach many attractions in less than 15 minutes. The only downside that I have found is that the apartment is an older building, so some of the decor in the common areas and hallways are outdated. That is the only thing that keeps me from giving them a five-star rating. All in all this has been a wonderful place to live.
