Famous for its ties to American history, Alexandria today remains a popular city — not just for tourists but also for those who work for the government. Located southwest of Washington, D.C., the west end Alexandria neighborhood of Landmark/Van Dorn has become a culturally diverse place for commuters to live.
Landmark/Van Dorn sits 5 miles due west of the downtown Alexandria waterfront, making a walk along the Potomac River only 15 minutes away. With the neighborhood outside of Old Towne, the close Metro line makes going downtown simple, yet residents can enjoy their local parks and restaurants without the influx of tourists.
Known for its luxury car dealerships, high-end rentals in Cameron Station, parks and diverse grocery stores, Van Dorn benefits from being a part of a community that, with over 900 acres of protected open space and a commitment to be biker and pedestrian friendly, makes Alexandria well worth the investment to live in.

Property Ratings at The Reserve at Eisenhower
My wife and I are coming up on the 4th month of living in the community. Our experience has been quite poor, leaving a review so that negative experiences can be reflected accurately. For background, I am a medical practitioner and my wife is a teacher. - Our main issue is that the floors of our apartment are significantly slanted and the repairs required would take over a month. The remedies provided to us were to leave the community, move to a downgraded apartment, or stay with the deformity. - Upon move in, there was a large puddle in our bathroom due to the bolts at the bottom of the tanks being rusted beyond function. This wasn't fixed properly and remains an issue. - Many of the windows of our apartment are malaligned and fall fully out of the fixture when trying to open. They are non functional and have yet to be repaired. - I have been in the office 3-4 times to try to obtain a working fob for my partner for the community gate and amenities. I have still yet to receive a working remote at 4 months. - We were not able to view the apartment until two days prior to move in, which was a weekend. Which is one of the main reasons we are in this situation to begin with. - We had a large ant issue. This problem was partly remedied, but we still have an issue in the bedroom. Despite extreme care, we also have a large amount of gnats that we cannot seem to completely eradicate. Other community wide complaints from residents during our 4 months. - Multiple reports of car vandalism - Large scale building leaks - Many reports of package theft - Pet waste in parking garage - Gym equipment (lifting equipment) is failing, dated, and dangerous - Prolonged closed business center - Pool closed during summer - Non functioning gate with easy walking access on sides This community is not up to standard.
I have lived at this property for a few years and will be moving soon. The location is perfect with Kingstowne and landmark all very close. You can even walk down to Whole-foods if you want to get a good work out on a nice paved pathway. 395 is right at my door step and I can get to DC and Maryland very quick. My dentist is in La Plata, Maryland and driving there is hassle free and quick from the apartments. The area has a nice walking path as a mentioned before and nice gym 300 feet from my apartment. My neighbors have all been very respectful and cool. What I really like is how quickly the maintenance staff responds to minor issues I had. The are very quick, all you do is make a ticket in the app and then they respond within 24/48 hours. If something keeps happening with the equipment they have no issue replacing the item with a new one. The office staff are also very kind and also respond quickly. The property manager Elena is very kind And down to earth with no attitude and she works hard. This place was one of the best experiences I have had with an apartment in the DMV. Its close to everything and I get to everywhere fast and easy. I have personally thought the staff didn’t do things or thought they ignored my request only to find out that I was wrong. So any negative review you read is just someone being negative. The staff does all they can to make you happy here Elena and her staff are always on it and have always came through for me when I had an issue. The apartments are large enough for me to store gym equipment during covid and still have room For a nice set of furniture in my living room. For the price, You get great service and integrity from a committed staff that will not let you down. This is a real review and I think you will like this property and the great location.
Do yourself a favor and think twice on this property. With a record of having multiple car break-ins, a lack of security and cameras on the community grounds, a broken gate for any and everyone to come in, as well as a lack of parking, even when you pay a large parking fee for a residents pass, they make it nearly impossible to end a lease. If you don’t decide to renew your lease, they make sure to hit you with any fees they can to get some type of money out of you. They gifted us a large move out fee after validating, verbally and via email on a date to turn in any information they requested. Unfortunately, they turn a blind eye to any proof and throw their policy at your face and run with it to get any money out of you. I just want to be done with this property. If you want safety and want to avoid the headache of dealing with fee gouging, find another apartment community. During our last months at the property, they had a mass car break in of about 17 cars and they left all of the tenants effected to fend for themselves. They all had to call their own towing company and insurance to handle the situation. The leasing team never followed up to let us know that they were handling the situation. They do not have any cameras on the property or security(now they have added security because of the multiple complaints). The light was out in the community so it was super dark, the gate was broken so anyone could come in and out. It was terrible. Their responses are always insensitive and the property manager is very incompetent. She would push me onto her leasing consultant to handle tough situations. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stop here. I will be calling corporate and putting them on blast. I’m sure their response to this review will be “I’m sorry you feel that way”. Don’t be fooled. They’re not here to help. They simply just do not care and they have proved that. Keep your empty response to this review.
My girlfriend and I lived at the reserve for two years, where we were ideal tenants by any measure. Timely rent payments, and never a single complaint. It is unfortunate that our thoughtfulness towards The Reserve were not reciprocated. During our time there, we overlooked most of the bad things about this complex; the $110/month we paid to park in literally the smallest parking spaces I have ever seen in my entire life, the tiles that had to be re-glued three times and still would still peel up, and the very loud traffic noise considering it is located on a very industrial road where UPS, FedEx and other large, loud trucks are driving by at all hours of the night, the very small and often crowded gym. We figured the location was good, and it is, so we overlooked all of those things. Given the choice I wouldn't live there again, the parking is a guarantee to find some scratches on your car. What really kind of put me over the edge was the move out. Through some misunderstanding we had put the move out date as one day after our actual move out date. A minor oversight but one that I would expect any company with good business practice to at least verify with the lessee. I won't even dwell on the fact that the office was very unresponsive when scheduling our move out, but to try to justify this bad business practice with the lame excuse of "We offer a wide range of leasing options and some people need an extra day or two so we don't question it." is pathetic. Just another glaring example of how when the cost falls to the consumer, the business never seems to bat an eye but if there is any discrepancy that falls in your favor they will be all over you. If you are looking for a place in Alexandria there are some new units on the corner of South Pickett that look very nice, and The Watergate has always been popular. Both are just as affordable and have much better amenities.
