Newark’s dominant landmark and cultural hub is undeniably the University of Delaware campus, where the student body nearly matches the city’s population of permanent residents. Accordingly, many of the community’s resources are tailor-made for the collegiate crowd: an eclectic mix of restaurants and nightlife venues lines Main Street on the north side of campus, and affordable apartments are easy to find anywhere in town.
Despite the fact that it is primarily a college town, Newark maintains a diverse population with rental options available to suit any lifestyle. The sprawling nature preserves that border the northern end of the city provide gorgeous settings for hiking, camping, canoeing, and simply enjoying the great outdoors. Just thirty minutes from Wilmington, Newark also makes an excellent home base for commuters.

Property Ratings at The Reserve at Forest Gate
My AC has been broken and they won't repair it or even put in a portable unit to cool the bedroom. They also don't offer credit even though AC is in the lease agreement.
Great location- Great staff. Nice and comfortable apartments
My husband and I have lived at The Reserve since the complex was built. Great service, office staff is always polite and friendly. The apartment is every spacious and the closet space is great. The area is nice and quiet, There is a strip mall in walking distance. Cons-There isn't any.
Property Manager at The Reserve at Forest Gate, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your kind review. We are please to have you as a resident and hope you continue to enjoy your living experience with us at the Reserve.
I have been living here with my wife here from last 1.5 years and so far we find this apartment as great place to live. Vary spacious, upgraded kitchen, huge washer/dryer (it can fit in queen bed comforters...), huge walk-in closet like a small room and most of all its build just 6 years back so all the fixtures are fairly new. Supporting staff are very nice and responsive. Maintenance complaints are handled (which I rarely raised) same day. Pros - Spacious, new fixtures, upgraded kitchens - In house washer dryer than can wash comforters and bead spreads - ShopRite at walking distance - Very nice office staff and speedy maintenance handling Cons - None If have to net pick any issue (only to make it more awesome place) with the apartment is that the carpet quality could have been better and bath tubs could have been bigger. Again this is a net picking, the current home carpets are better than many other apartments which i have lived and seen. All in all, this is a great place to live and I highly recommend this place.
Great complex. Too many rules. Nice updated apartments
I love this complex. The apartments are very up to date, roomy and let's not talk about the closet space. I have so much room. Looking out on my 3rd floor balcony the view overlooking the area is peaceful. I'm really close to work and also close to downtown Newark where I can run to happy hour. I love cooking in my spacious kitchen with the convince of the shoprite being right next to the property. The people in the leasing office are always very nice and helpful the few times I need to visit. I would recommend this complex.
The complex is beautiful, from the apartments to the pool, landscaping and gym. My neighbors are all very nice along with the employees in the leasing office. I have been here for a year and have yet to have any problems. The rent is very reasonable for the experience and the luxury of the apartment and they have discount options available for bank employees which is a great thing to have. Compared to other luxury apartments in the Newark/Bare area you are getting quality for a fare price. The location is also great; not to close to the college campus of the University of Delaware but just close enough if you want a night out. It is also close to local every day stores such as Wal-mart, Walgreens, Shoprite and even the movies. The complex is nice and quiet and is also gated for you to enjoy the comfort of your own balcony. The best part of the apartment to me is that you can not hear your neighbors in the next apartment which is prefect. I would recommend coming to get a tour of the property. I'm sure many would find my review true.
