The Retreat at Blacksburg

So happy living here! The staff is super helpful and the clubhouse is a great place to study and work! I love going to the resident events but wish they had more.

Great experience all around during my time at Virginia Tech. The Retreat is very home-like in the apartments and the community as a whole. I recommend checking this place out when looking for student housing!

Great place to live, management is always incredibly helpful, amenities are the best, maintenance is always quick and efficient, there is not a better place to live in the area.

I have lived at the retreat for 4 years and the roommates that I got randomly matched with have become my very best friends and family. The staff is so welcoming and helpful! My maintenance man Steven always has a smile on his face and does job well. The amenities have been pretty good too. I enjoy using the 2 story gym when I can, and the pool is nice during the summer. Thanks Retreat!

The Retreat isn't like other apartments in Blacksburg. These are little houses. There's backyards & large grass areas for neighbor games and socializing. The pool is awesome and the sauna & golf are great too. They have a big clubhouse with free coffee & snacks & they office staff are wonderful to talk too. Maintenance is quick to fix anything and I would recommend this place to anyone!

I love that the Retreat is always hosting resident events and the staff are always friendly and seem happy to help the residents. I also like the free snacks & starbucks in the clubhouse.

This is my second year living at the Retreat and I'm now renewing for a third year. Staff are super nice and I love the events!

I have really loved living here, the location is ideal and the maintenance and management team has been great! I brought some of my friends to live here too, and they love it.

I lived in apartments on Patrick Henry last year & I'm glad that me & my roommates moved to the retreat. The cottage feels like home & it's really nice to have a community of neighbors around. The gym is opened 24/7 & I like that I can go get free starbucks in the middle of the night. It's the best place to live by far!

My parents & I stopped by the office yesterday to see the model again & the staff were great! They answered all of my parent's questions & made us feel very welcome. She also said we can make event suggestions & gave me her card to email her if we have ideas or questions later. We can't wait to move in this August!

I love the Retreat & have only had positive experiences living here. I reported the dog park fence lock not working & Becky sent people over there to fix it the same day. All the staff are nice & approachable. Best CS in town! Don't waste your time and $$ on UCB, just live here already!

This place is amazing, the woman in the office is the best and they are very accommodating.

Looking into living area for my daughter at va tech.i was very impressed with the amenities at the retreat.very clean,management was very helpful and it's very close to campus and they have bus service at the location.

The retreat staff is super friendly and helpful. The tour really gave me an idea about what it was going to be like living at the retreat. I really love the amenities, like the pool, the gym, and the quiet study rooms perfect getting my homework done. There is also a walking path the goes around the property. This makes it easy to walk our dog since the retreat is pet friendly! I love living here so much I am living here next year too!

I genuinely would give zero stars if I could. The absolute lack of care this building shows for its residents is insane. Thee hot tub and fire pit has been broken for the ENTIRE year so far. I express my wish for them to repaired almost every day it feels like. They do nothing about it. They finally got cycling bikes I'd been begging for in the gym but the seat moves angles so its unusable and they refuse to make the vendors come do it promptly. I lived here over the summer with my dog and I would have a melt down everyday because maintenance people would come in whenever they pleased unannounced. I would be frantic my dog would get out while I was at work. I expressed my frustration every day, they didn't care. the maintenance people have let my friends dog out before. Overall, this complex is cheaply built and looks nice from the outside but will be the worst place you ever live if you decide to sign a lease here. The management doesn't care about the residents. Never live here.

The retreat is a great place to live, but there are things wrong with some apartments. We’ve had to call maintenance a few too many times. The gym is nice and the clubhouse is a great place to study.

I love living here. The amenities are all great, always clean, and the staff is always super nice. The Retreat does a great job with making the residents feel at home. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else.

I really love the location and the fact that we have our own bus route that drops you right off at the clubhouse. Each cottage offers the chance for you to have space to yourself but also come together with your roommates which is really nice. Often they host free food giveaways and fun Instagram contests. I have really enjoyed my time here and look forward to another year of living here. My car however, does not appreciate the rough speed bumps but I guess that’s a minor issue.

I have only had positive experiences living here these past two years and would recommend The Retreat to anyone who asked for housing in Blacksburg. All the amenities here are hard to beat. The staff here are incredibly nice and welcoming and makes you feel at home with most staff knowing you by name. Maintenance is very quick to complete maintenance request usually same day turnover. I am a graduating senior and will miss The Retreat very much.

I’m a transfer student to VT and the retreat has been one of the best places to live by far I’ve met so many cool people and also have had the best roommates the pool is also excellent not to mention the gym has a lot of different equipment.

I love living at the Retreat because the staff and leasing office is very friendly and very attentive to our needs as residents!

After bouncing around a few apartment complexes in my 5 years at Tech, I can definitively say The Retreat has been my best living experience while in Blacksburg. Friendly staff, comfortable living spaces and the pool and clubhouse amenities make it the perfect place to stay while studying at VT!

Most people expect college living situations to be ratty apartments but The Retreat exceeds these expectations. Every amenity is top tier and the staff is so friendly! Overall the best place to live in Blacksburg for sure.

The Retreat is more than a place to live in Blacksburg. It offers you a home away from home with a resort style feel. The Retreat offers amenities such as the PGA golf simulator, resort style pool, beach style volleyball, infare sauna, complimentary Starbucks coffee, and more. Most importantly, the office staff and maintenance team cultivates an atmosphere of comfortability and mutual respect. Most definitely check this place out if you are looking for housing in near Virginia Tech.

I love it here! All the amenities in the clubhouse are such a plus. The study rooms, golf simulator, and pool are amaaazing. The house itself is modern and spacious. I love having my own bathroom and walk- in closet. I can’t wait to live here for another year

LOVE this place! Have no complaints at all! Maintenance comes out the day of, or day after you call and report a problem (which we barely do), and the amenities are amazing! Anyone who wants a place where you feel like your at home, this is the place for you!

My son has lived at the Retreat for 2 years while attending Virginia Tech. The amenities in the cottage and in the clubhouse, along with the pool, are amazing! The cottages are spacious and comfortable. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. It's a great place to call home! If he wasn't graduating this Spring, he would definitely be staying for another year!

The Retreat is a fun community filled with respectful people. The employees are on top of maintenance and other needs of residents. Have 24/7 access to the pool and sauna is an added bonus! I’m living here for the second year in a row next year and can’t wait!

I have lived at the retreat for 2 years now and have loved every minute of it. My favorite thing about living here is having my own bathroom and the clubhouse. The clubhouse is a great place to study with the many seats and free printing as well as free coffee. Living here has definitely made it easier for me to focus on my studying.

The Retreat has exceeded all my expectations. The staff and amenities are the best of the best. I am so happy with what I have gained from living at The Retreat that I have renewed my lease and will be living here again next year !

Although it may seem like a high price, so much is included. Starbucks coffee machine, gym, sauna, study rooms, pool, spa & so much more. There’s so many events and free food as well as contests. The community atmosphere is really great and you really get to know the staff.

Great place with lots of amenities. Cottages are nice and spacious. Large rooms and personal bathrooms. Only downside is parking. - CM

They offer a large variety of styles/number of rooms. Pool is wonderful and the place to be when the suns out. Dog park is great because the retreat loves fur friends! I’ve lived here for 2.5 years and wouldn’t change my mind. -Lizzy S.

Great place to live! I have stayed here for 2 years and I am very happy living here! Rent can be pricey depending on which complex you are at, but the amenities are wonderful here for the price you pay and it's very close to campus! There are a lot of giveaway opportunities and community events. Staff are extremely friendly. Maintenance arrives timely. The reason I give this place a 4/5 is because some homes have a few flaws (i.e. bathroom light installed outside of bathroom, back door isn't well insulated to keep out the cold, poor trims, etc.). Other than that, I love this place!

Ill be living here next year for the third year in a row! The amenities are amazing and the cottages are so roomy!! My roommates and I have loved it!

I have now enjoyed living at the retreat for about 8 months and I couldn’t be happier, the cottages are so comfortable and spacious! The clubhouse and its amenities are just top notch! I would change my cottage life for anything!

I LOVE living here! The cottage style neighborhood makes it feel super homey and the rooms are perfect sizes. The prices is worth it because there are so many benefits!

My roommates and I have lived at the retreat for 3 years. The best thing about our 4 bedroom is how much space we have to spread out and entertain. It's amazing to be able to just walk out our back door versus climbing multiple floors to leave our apartment and sit outside. We will miss this place when we graduate this May :( :(

I have only been living a The Retreat but I absolutely love it! Maintenance team is very quick at fulfilling requests and I never have a problem with staff. It is an excellent place to spend your off-campus life at and I high recommend!
