Historic architecture, bicyclists, and towering trees come together to make Corvallis, Oregon a fascinating and exciting city. Dating back to 1845, the city is best known as the home of Oregon State University, but Corvallis is much more than a college town. With nearly 50 parks, Corvallis is a Tree City USA, and the League of American Bicyclists rate Corvallis as gold -- 12 percent of residents ride a bicycle to school or work every day.
Oregon State University is a major draw to the city. This highly-respected university is a land-, sea-, space-, and sun-grant institution and is one of just 73 land-grant universities in the country. OSU was established in 1868, and residents of Corvallis can cheer on the OSU Beavers at Reser Stadium (football), Goss Stadium (basketball), and Gill Stadium (baseball).

Property Ratings at The Retreat at Corvallis
I am going on my second year here at the retreat. The first was great, managers, staff, and maintenance team all friendly and helpful. Amenities were clean and updated while communication between tenants and staff was regular and helpful. However, after a mass exodus of managerial and front desk staff the quality has been abysmal. Let’s delve into some of the issues from this past lease starting in September. I have never written a public review before, yet I write this essay in my notes because another WiFi outage has occurred (April 2nd 2024), and will post when the next one comes (Today is April 10, 2024). I speak only on my personal experiences, please sort through other reviews online and notice the commonalities. A majority of these issues probably stem from the recent buyout by Landmark Properties, which have contracted out a ton of services which should be low hanging fruit for quality. Many speak on the poor quality regarding cleanliness of their rooms on move in day. I personally can voice for a number of appliance issues which have not been fixed in my apartment since before I moved in. My thoughts are this, if you have made it this far and are still considering, this place feels like a sinking ship, staffed by an uncaring and uninvolved team, and driven by a large corporate money vacuum. Managers, if you have read this far I hope you can make some serious changes, because while my one review may be a small cry into the void of the internet, the thousands of other residents driven to the same point I am will eventually bury the site in poor reviews.
The grounds were completely unkempt and overgrown the entire time I was living here. Trash was piled up and never once taken care of like property management may claim. The unit I moved into was filthy at move in but despite this they will charge you a cleaning fee at move out. They also don’t offer a 9 month lease like most other student housing in Corvallis. I had rented at 3 other complexes in Corvallis previously that offered this for students despite management claiming that such a lease does not exist in Corvallis. Management is completely unhelpful and the front desk workers were unfriendly whenever I needed to interact with them. You can only claim issues due to a company switch for so long before it just becomes an excuse.
I wish I could attach a photo to show the MOUNTAINS of trash here. It is not just move in/out- there are always disgusting piles of trash in addition to broken glass in the parking lot and dog poop on the lawns. I’ve tried talking to management, but they do nothing. If you live in Corvallis and are considering this location, I urge you to go around the back of the buildings and assess for yourself.
I lived at The Retreat throughout college and had the BEST experience. The management is so friendly and made The Retreat a welcoming and fun community!
Management doesn't take care of issues when it comes to roommates and maintenance.
These apartments are so beautiful! It's a good location and good price for what you get.
