Property Ratings at The Retreat at Fox Hollow
I have lived here for almost 6 years now and never has this place looked so good. The staff is amazing and extremely helpful. So glad that we live here.
You pay a premium price, but you aren't treated like a premium customer. You don't actually get what you were sold, and there's not a thing you can do about it. You buy into the gated community sales pitch about being safe here. You buy into the convenience of having nice trash bins nearby that make disposing of trash nice and convenient. You buy into the lease based on the prices you're quoted and services you're offered. It's costly, but seems nice enough to be worth it. Well, surprise! The rates go up and up while the features go down and down. This happens DURING your lease period, not just when you renew. Just months into our lease, our 'gated community' is no longer gated- but we're still paying to live in a gated community. The nice trash bins are gone, and were replaced with some service that provides little black trash cans that don't hold even one normal bag of trash. We are supposed to keep that ugly can inside, then tote it to the front door- after 7:00 PM. If you have dinner guests, they get to stand right over your full trash while they ring the bell. We have yet to speak to one neighbor who isn't furious about it. Today we all got another terse notice from the office notifying us of a whole list of new charges- a high fee for that crummy trash service; our water and sewer will now be charged based on dividing the water and sewer cost of the whole property by the number of residents. Sounds like that will include refilling the hot tub, pool, and watering lots of grass. And get this- we will each now be charged for the 'common area' gas and electric, meaning that we are to pay to heat the hot tub and pool, and for the heat and lights and whatever else they use in the clubhouse. Plus, there's a new monthly service fee, a new monthly pest control fee, some other administration fee, a new 'processing fee', and two new fees that we can't even figure out reasons for. This is all on top of high rent and the many fees we'd agreed to. Oh, and- the notice says that if taxes or even POSTAGE goes up, we can be charged more. Not kidding. Charged for the company's postage! We are very disappointed in how this property is run. We were given a very different perception when we viewed the property and were given the sales pitch. We can only wonder what they'll come up with next to take away- or charge us for- or both. It's a safe bet that if you move here, you will pay much more than you expected, and will receive much less than you were promised.
It's truly a retreat! Very peaceful on walks as long as you watch where you step...way too many irresponsible pet owners. A regular policing of the grounds would be much appreciated.
For a while the property seemed to be getting a bit "run down" but as of late, many improvements are happening! New lighting in the dark courtyards, new signs, the gate got fixed after months of not working, new gym equipment, the staff seems to be situated now after having so many agents come and go...it's all good now. Thank you for taking better care of this wonderful property. Troy and Michael are very professional, kind and extremely helpful.
When we moved in there were things like theatre room which was taken away and replaced by a yoga studio which did not get use. The pool was no sooner open than it was closed for repair and the previous summer it was closed for large portions of the summer.
I would recommend, but would caution that the facility is aging. Such caution may move to "not recommend" if management/staff does not stabilize or ownership changes
I wouldn't recommend this place but because of the maintenance personnel I would there great always have been but it takes good management also
Great physical apartment and location. Very friendly and professional staff. The one work order I've had took about a week longer than expected, everything else has been timely.
i would definitely recommend this community, i've lived here a lot of years and have been very happy.
We have been here for 3 weeks. We Love it. Great community, great apartment, great people.
After selling our home in Applewood, we lived for a year at The Village at Bear Creek before moving to The Retreat at Fox Hollow. We feel much more at home at The Retreat. We love the townhouse with the garage. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.
Just a nice, safe place to live
It is a relatively quiet neighborhood, with minimal tearing around in loud cars (yes, there is some) and in general pleasant. The apartment personnel do a good job at trying to keep the place clean and tidy.
New tenant, only been here a couple weeks. Like unit and community so far
I hear of performance, maintenance and safety issues that others experience -- those things don't happen here. Personal protection is never an issue.
Honestly, the overall quality has gone down. :(
Price is high and the increases were too much for me.
It is located in a very good area. When I need help the staff is there to help me.
The apartments, grounds, and location are all nice enough, but the management is TERRIBLE. We were notified 7 months after move in about a utility fee issue, and then we were told that they would talk to management to have it reversed since it took them that long to notify us. Three weeks later, I called and left an email and 3 voice mails to check back into the matter; no response, and then finally I got a hold of the property manager. She said this was the first time she had heard of the issue. I explained the issue again, and got the response that it was basically our fault regardless of their oversight to notify us of the utility fee issue in a timely manner. I went in to talk to her directly and she proceeded to lecture me that as a 30 year old, I needed to take responsibility of the matter (completely talking down to me like I was a child). She then told me to leave the office because I confronted and reprimanded her for the insult. We will NOT be renewing our lease after all of this insult to injury. TERRIBLE COMPANY! Do not give them your business.
The amenities are great - would definitely recommend, the community is safe and well kept. Office and Maintenance are quick and efficient.
This is a very pleasant and comfortable place to live. Also, I never feel the need of Security, which has become an issue in the metropolitan Denver area.
Quality maintenance is critical to a good apartment living experience. That is provided here.
The Retreat at Fox Hollow is a perfect place to reside. It is not only beautiful, but it is very well maintained. The buildings, the landscaping, the pool, and the roads are constantly being attended to making this complex pristine. The management and caretakers of the property are polite, caring, efficient and professional. The location is quiet and safe. I would recommend this apartment community to my 90 year old mother living alone and to my 21 year single old daughter and everybody else in between knowing that they were in such a secure home.
I have lived in the complex for 13 years, the office personnel are friendly, willing to help with any situation that might come up, if maintenance is needed they are always there promptly and genuinely care that things are taken care of. the grounds are kept neat and trimmed. I live in a one bedroom apartment, main level, they see to it that everything is in working order, spacious living/kitchen/dining area with windows all around the front, front and back entrances, which is real nice and patio, also my own laundry area, which is great. I've been very happy with my residence at Retreat and wouldn't want to live in any other complex.
Out of all the Lakewood area apartments, I would say Fox Hollow is one of the best. The management is extremely helpful and rectifies any questions or problems I have. The apartment itself is very quiet, which I like because it makes the apartments feel more personalized. Also, the location is great for running/biking trails if you are into those types of activities. The apartment may be slightly more pricey than some other local apartments, but the sense of security is definitely worth it.
The staff at The Retreat at Fox Hollow is warm and welcoming. The apartments are well maintained. The grounds are beautiful
