The oldest city in Georgia, Savannah is located just across the Savannah River from South Carolina. Canopies of Live Oak trees draped in Spanish moss and restored historic buildings line cobblestone streets throughout Savannah. Built over Indian burial grounds and old cemeteries, Savannah has a haunted reputation consequently leading to frequent ghost tours.
Boasting a pedestrian-friendly layout, Savannah is a highly walkable city. There are plenty of things to do in Savannah, all within walking distance. Should you choose to rent in Savannah, you will have the chance to attend the world’s second largest Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, see the ornate Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, shop the boutiques and national retailers along Broughton Street, marvel at the many art galleries run by Savannah College of Art and Design graduates, unwind at Forsyth Park, enjoy the Savannah Film Festival, and take a 30-minute drive to Tybee Island for easy beach access.

Property Ratings at The Retreat at Garden Lake
The trash is backed up every week and the apartments are filled with roaches. The management team is no help never.
I don’t understand how people are even living here. This place run down, has very poor management, good luck trying to call the office because the manager never answeres even when she is in the office. You can’t get the maintenance request fulfilled if your life depended on it. It’s expensive for this crap they offer - wouldn’t recommend this place to an animal.
We are extremely disappointed with this place and we are astonished by the poor service from the management. Management is never available to take the phone call and has showed little to no customer service. Upon moving to this apartment, we found that the management had not cleaned or fixed the apartment. Everything is broken, fleas in the apartment and the carpets are dirty and smell like urine. We put in a work order and nothing has happened so far and it’s been over a month. Absolutely disappointed!!
Parking at this complex is HORRIBLE. My building have 6 units and 9 parking spots, and, a PODS container has occupied 1 spot for almost a month. I've pleaded for at 1 reserved parking spot per unit. You should be able to return to your unit and not have to in the next building down.
I really like everything about this neighborhood, except for the fact that no pets are allowed. I really don't understand why that rule is in place. Once my lease is up, I would renew except I really would prefer a pet friendly community.
I have only been living here a month, but the quietness and the police presents is awesome! The staff is helpful and my neighbors are friendly. Glad I can be a part of a great community.??
I give this complex 3 out of 5 stars. Great price for square footage. The office staff are always friendly and helpful. Very quiet, with excellent insulation...I have yet to overhear my neighbors. My only 2 negatives are how small the park area is for children we usually take our Kids to another park to play, and some of the gym equipment needs to be repaired/upgraded.
I've lived in Garden Lake Townhomes for almost 3 years now and the leasing office offers a superb service. This service comes in handy especially when you expect a package from either USPS ,FedEx or UPS. At times I would call to let the office know I would not be at home until after hours and they would offer to take the package to my apartment. Not to worry, you can trust the agent going into the apartment, I've done it many times. If you communicate about an issue with the rent, they will help you and give you sometime to make the payment.
Relocating from a different state can be challenging, to say the least. My main concern was finding a safe, clean, and affordable place for my family. I found Garden Lake Townhomes online. I instantly liked the price and location. The Manager was very friendly and quick to respond to any questions that arose. 5 years later we are still here and we don't plan on moving anytime soon. The location is in a perfect area: close to Downtown Savannah, Tybee Island and the growing City of Pooler. All of our maintenance requests are completed with in a timely manner. The grounds are extremely safe, clean and well kept. Management has consistently been professional, kind and courteous from the first day we made contact. Choosing to move here was a Great decision!
Garden Lake is a nice place to live if you are single or have a small family. The staff and maintenance are always very friendly, helpful, and quick to fix any problems. It is very convenient, only 10 minutes to downtown Savannah. My only complaints are that the "gym" or workout room is very minimal and some machines are missing parts or are broken from children in the complex playing in there. Also most of the kids were well behaved but when I was living there, there was a few bad seeds, some teenagers that would cause some trouble on occasion. The complex seemed safe for the most part, but some of the tenants were a bit sketchy to say the least. I did have very friendly neighbors though.
I am a student/single professional, and I have found this development to be perfect for me. It's only about a 10 minute drive from downtown Savannah, and it's peaceful, relatively quiet, and safe. The management has been helpful and accommodating since the day I signed my lease. I have never encountered a more friendly staff. I recommend Garden Lake Townhomes to anyone looking for a comfortable yet affordable place to live in the Savannah area!
Garden Lake Townhomes is by far the most amazing complex in which I have stayed. I have traveled and lived in several places in the Southeast and must say that I have never lived in a community like this one. If you are in the Savannah area and looking for somewhere to reside, I hands down suggest this place. In addition, the staff is cordial and accommodating and I give them a gold star for all that they have done for me since my move.
