One of the dirtiest places to live buildings are disgusting the hallways the walls and rugs are gross, trash all over the place inside the buildings in the hallways, stairs outside in parking lot rubbish thrown on the ground all around dumpsters, pot smoking and cigarette smoking still going on in buildings when it's supposed to be smoke free poor maintenance, no security, they replace things that are broken in your unit with used part's. Poor management, they only care about the landscaping instead of cleaning up the inside of the buildings and replacing things that are important in your unit.

The Retreat in Marlborough is exactly that. The grounds are beautiful, the staff is professional, the residents are respectful, and the amenities are outstanding. Apartments are safe and well insulated. Grounds are exceptionally maintained. Pet friendly complex with a great dog park and spacious sidewalks for a nice walk or stroll. Grounds are well lit and safe. Definitely a place to call home.

Since Greystar bought the property in April, living here has become a nightmare. Management staff are unresponsive, avoid dealing with residents, have no idea what they are doing, totally unprofessional. Ruined a pleasant experience in a short time.

I am actively telling people I know to not just avoid this property, but anything managed by Greystar. It is stunning how quickly they lost any good will I may have had for them. I cannot think of any area that has improved since they began managing the property. Even if I could afford the over 35% increase in rent, I would not want to stay here after my lease expires. They have made what I thought would be a great place to live feel more like one that I will be glad to be done with once the time comes for me to move out.

It is overall a nice place to live, and overall I do like it here. I think though that if we are going to pay rents like Avalon or other newer luxury apartments then this property needs to be more up to par. Maintenance is lacking huge on follow ups and quality from my experiences. Hallways definitely need to be painted. The clubhouse needs to be able to be rented seeing it's advertised as an amenity. I was told it was rentable when I moved in and now it's not.

1. Insects/Mosquito screen door for balcony/patio area is NOT part-of/maintained by the apartment. When there are too many bugs/insects coming into your house, it would have been nice to have this door maintained properly by the management. 2. Mold issues are too frequent - Walls, Cabinets, closed rooms etc. (3/5 rooms have mold problems). 3. When an appliance is NOT working as expected, there is no meaningful alternative solution to it (especially when the appliance need to be replaced). 4. Although the response from maintenance crew is awesome, you would have to rely on one being in your apartment every week.

Noisy neigbors with kids running around yelling, screaming all hours of the day and night management won't do anything they actually blame you for complaining,there been numerous attempt in car brake in, people driving at 40mph in the parking lot,trash been left out piled up,dog crap every where! And the list goes on trust me better off going somewhere else I can't wait to get outta here!!
Wheeler Hill's pricing aligns with other high-end luxury apartment complexes in the area and the leasing office may look high-end, however, their customer service in the front officec is terrible once you sign the lease. Don't be fooled by the great clubhouse, the pool was closed numerous times over the summer due to people sneaking in at night and tampering with the heater causing the pool to turn green. Despite the tampering, no additional security was added. The gym usually lacks cleaning supplies for the equipment and I have had more packages stolen from the clubhouse despite having a package delivery system many boxes are simply left out for anyone to take when the system is full. I have reported my concerns to management and was told each time they are working on it. I strongly recommend renting in another location while they continue to work on it here.
I put in an application and a $500 deposit on a place and was told the process would take about 5 days. I emailed to ask what my status was after almost 2 weeks and was told it's normal to wait that long and it could take longer! I waited another week and emailed, nope still nothing on the status of my application. I emailed again at 4 weeks and received no reply. At the 5 week mark I emailed and asked them to pull my application. That same day I heard back a reply of okay, your check will be mailed back to you. That's now been over 2 weeks and I haven't received the check back and no one ever emailed or called to find out why I pulled my application. I feel there was absolutely no communication from the office staff I dealt with and no explanation of why the process takes so long. I'm highly disappointed because I was hopeful when I initially went to look at the place. Good luck to others! I hope you have a better experience then I did.

I would not recommend living here. Even the cheapest apartment available is far too expensive. You might as well live in a box. It's the same size for much cheaper. Any "renovations" they make are done frugally. When they painted our building, they painted our door shut three times and since we basically had to kick the door to get in, the paint is cracked and chipped, just like all the other doors. They also made it sound so nice that the parking lot was getting sealed. They might as well have just spray painted it black. I can't even count how many potholes there are. And whoever they use to plow in the winter is terrible. Bring a shovel so you can walk in the side walks and actually get to your car. There were times where even after the plow came through, I still had five feet of snow to drive through (that was a foot deep) and my car got stuck several times. When we first moved in we tried using the gym once, but were disappointed to find out that most of the equipment was broken. They may have fixed this, but I'm not sure because I haven't been there since. As far as there online billing service, get ready for problems. For the first few months, I had to go to the office and have them fix it because it never worked properly. Finally, now that we've just moved out (Thank god!), they take their sweet time getting the security deposit back to you. They also owe us a few hundred dollars from the rent they took. They charged us a full month, even though we didn't live there for the entirety. Since the phone service usually just sends you in a never ending loop of useless information and automated messages, I went there myself to find out when we might see out money back. It could take a little over a month. Not very helpful when you low on funds since they drained our bank account on a monthly basis. I'm sure I could go on about several more problems, but I think I've made my point. Don't move here!

This is one of the top two worst places I have ever lived. Maintenance is terrible....put in a request and they mark it complete. They did this 5 times to one request and absolutely nothing was done. The say they offer 24 hr maintenance but the hot water heater in the apartment upstairs leaked at 4:00 am Sunday morning and we couldn't get anyone until 8:00 am. Water was running across the ceiling and leaking onto our bed. The maintenance man went upstairs, shut off their water and gave us a 5 gallon pail....that was his "fix". They showed up 11 days later to fix the ceiling and wall.....this is just two occasions....there are more. People are allowed to let their dogs do their business and not pick it up, especially large dogs. The people that lived upstairs from us had two children that would visit weekly, on the weekends, and they were allowed to run and jump for hours, sometimes until 2:00 am. We complained....nothing was done. They also pour grease down onto our patio furniture, twice. After the 2nd time, I clean our furniture and moved it off the patio. We never used the patio again......the grease left a huge stain on the patio cement......I complained.....nothing was done. Finally, I made an appointment for 3:00 pm, for the final walk through. In typical fashion,no one showed up....I dropped my keys at the office and couldn't get out of there fast enough!! Drive past this place......

I selected this appartment community because I liked the atmosphere and the leasing office. When wheeler hill transitioned from Bell Wheeler Hill to Heights at Wheeler Hill, the residents were left with no resident portal for about 2 months. Previously, the leasing office was always communicating changes and was always very polite. The leasing staff has changed, the communication is poor, and it doesn't feel like they really care about the residents. The new leasing staff seems very friendly when you first meet them. I don't usually visit the leasing office, so I didn't notice any problems to begin with (despite the lack of communication). However, when I had my first problem and addressed it to them, they didn't remember to do it the first time I called. Their demeanor was also very aggressive and defensive as if they expected me to verbally assault them. They made it very clear that they would not go out of their way to help me. I experienced the same thing the second time I had a problem that they didn't know how to solve. It's possible that they could get better, but I doubt it. I don't recommend living here at this time for the price paid. One thing that I will say, despite the bad service at the leasing office, is that the maintenance service is truly wonderful. They always come quickly to solve problems, and they always know exactly how to fix them.

Wheeler hill used to be a wonderful place to live before it was sold to Greystar, sense then, it has fallen into disrepair. The grounds are so neglected and under maintained that, over weekends, trash compactors frequently get blocked up and the result is a pile of trash 4 feet high and 20 feet long! Also, there are lights out all over the property, making it a seedy place to walk you dog after dark. Numerous attempts to have management take care of issues has resulted in nothing more than being "yessed off". For the money I suggest you look elsewhere.

Great location - close to the mall, restaurants, and grocery stores. Also fairly close to the 495. The apartments are well kept and spacious. The management does a good job of fixing things and answering inquiries. I would recommend this place!

Kudos for living away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Close enough for recreation at our own town beach for kayaking and relaxing. Accessible to major highways and universities. Appropriate response from maintenance staff. A bit on the expensive side. There is always room for improvement.

The physical apartment itself is good. There is plenty of room. The bathrooms are spacious but the bedroom closets are small. It lacks luster but has the option to customize. Some of the appliances are dated. The hallways lack appeal and appear dirty. The clubhouse is great. Plenty to do and very clean. The staff and residents are very helpful and friendly.
