From white-water rafting on the Cheat River to rock climbing at Coopers Rock to shopping for antiques, there's good reason Morgantown is the most popular destination in West Virginia -- add in West Virginia University and the reasons just become more impressive. Morgantown, situated along the Monongahela River, provides stunning views of the Appalachian Mountains -- especially from vantage points like Dorsey Knob. This park covers 71 acres, and the mountain is 1,398 feet high.
Considered a top-ranking research university, WVU was established in 1867 and features several buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Residents of Morgantown can visit the university's Core Arboretum, which is free and open to the public. Residents can also cheer on the West Virginia Mountaineers at various sports events. The Mountaineers compete in NCAA Division I as part of the Big 12 Conference.

Property Ratings at The Ridge
The Ridge is a total disaster. I lived there for two years and just moved out. There are several problems with The Ridge: Unreasonable Move-Out Charges: After moving out, I received a $170 repair bill. What’s worse is that I wasn't even notified properly—I found out by chance when a friend reminded me to check my email. He, unfortunately, received an over $500 bill!!! (Yes, that’s right, OMG). I never got an email notification and only discovered the charge by logging back into The Ridge's online system. When I went to the front desk to discuss this, I was given the manager’s email and sent away. I emailed the manager days ago and haven't received a reply so far, while my friend got a response the very next morning. It makes me wonder if they would have responded quicker if my repair bill had been $200 and ONE CENT and couldn't be fully covered by my $200 deposit. This entire experience felt like a very shady way to inform residents about charges. Detailed Repainting Charges: Bedroom: They charged me for fully repainting the bedroom, which is totally unreasonable since I never decorated the walls or ate in the bedroom, so I definitely made no physical damage or obvious stains to the walls. Bathroom: They also charged me for repainting the entire bathroom, claiming there were splashes on the wall and some black stains by the corner of the wall. These were already there when I moved in. I've seen those black stains every day for the last two years when I sit on the toilet, wondering if they are mold and regretting ever signing a lease with The Ridge. The management at The Ridge is unresponsive and unfair in their move-out charges. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
I really enjoy the amenities, especially the newly renovated volleyball court. The staff was also very helpful and considerate helping me through the rental process. Highly recommend The Ridge
I have been living at The Ridge for 8 months now, and it has been an overall great experience with no complaints. I live in a 4x2 Standard, and love the space and it works great for me as I live very minimalistic. I would definitely recommend if you are someone who needs more space to look at the 4x2 XL or 3x3 as it is more square footage, and the 3 bedroom is really nice as it has a walk in closet it was just a a bit out of my price range. Also something I have really enjoyed is all the staff in the front office. They are super knowledgeable and have been able to assist me and have been super nice with anything I have brought up to them.
I have had a positive experience living at The Ridge during my time at WVU. The property offers a dependable shuttle service that provides transportation to all WVU campuses, as well as free parking. The staff has consistently been helpful whenever assistance was needed. I would recommend The Ridge as a reasonably priced option for those looking to live with friends.
This place is a joke. It’s run by an incompetent Barbie who has absolutely no idea what’s going on at her complex. The pool has been broken for three summers, so they’re falsely advertising a pool. They refused to clean up vomit in my buildings main stairwell. It baked in the sun for 2 months. They refuse to fix my microwave which has been broken for 2 months. And I’m coming up on month 2 with no AC. i was told that the AC vendors were coming out next week…that was two weeks ago. And now I cannot get an update on the AC. It’s been 90 degrees the past two days. This place is cheap but it’s ridiculously overpriced for what it is. It should be 100$ a month TOPS. Horrible, disgusting place. Nowhere else is going to be worse than this. Go somewhere else and spare yourself nearly two months of sleepless nights in your 80 degree room.
The hallways are disgusting, and the main building doors that are supposedly only accessible with a key fob did not work a single time in my entire lease. Also, the pool that they advertise everywhere NEVER OPENED. Horrible service and not worth it, don’t live here!
Worst place to live in WV. You’re better off in a trailer park. Infested with bugs. Super dirty and moldy. Terrible management, they lie to you, don’t fix broken things unless you threaten to sue and then it still takes months. Thin walls and loud neighbors. Centipedes everywhere. They lose your packages. Don’t give mailbox keys. Don’t clean apartments before you move in. They advertise a pool and hot tub, I lived there for years the pool has never been open and hot tub was never useable for more than a week. DO NOT LIVE HERE ITS NOT WORTH IT. There’s plenty of other places in the area just as cheap if that’s what you’re looking for.
I have been trying desperately to contact someone from the office about reletting my daughters lease. All parties involved have done their part except for The Ridge. I have left approximately 50 messages with their answering service as well as e-mails and heard NOTHING! Stay away from this place!!!!!
Don't bother looking at the pics or taking a tour it's nothing like the room they will put you in. Extra large is no different than regular. The pool and hot tub are disgusting.
My roommates and I loved living here, super close to campus and we would use the gym and pool a lot.

Thank you for sharing your positive experience at The Ridge. We're delighted to hear that you and your roommates enjoyed living here and took advantage of our convenient location near campus. It's great to know that you made good use of our gym and pool facilities. We appreciate your feedback.
Maintenance is done once in a blue moon. There's water damage on most of the cabinets. Dog and cat hair everywhere when I moved in. Mold, dirty walls and hallways. Ignore the cheap rent because they will charge you absurd prices for utilities and make up other charges.
This might be the worst apartment complex I have ever stayed at. I was lied to when visiting units. They will show something that you will not get. Every time you call them out on something that they should be providing or that you are paying for, they find an excuse to get out of it without further care for you as a resident. The craziest lie might be when I was told I was going to get a refund on a month of rent (I vacated the unit), and I receive a check equivalent to a quarter of it. You can call them for any of your issues, but it will turn out to be more frustrating than anything as they will always find a way to get out of fixing your issue. Most of the workers there are actually super rude and do not seem like they wanted that job in the first place.
Nice apartment but management sucks probably worst in Morgantown.
they charge you for other peoples utilities. nothing you can do about it

This apartment complex management is unfit to run this business. On move in day the apartment I stayed in was filthy and had to be cleaned again before moving in. During my leasing period I had complications with numerous things. Within the first few weeks I noticed that I was getting sick but I didn’t know why. The ventilation system is filled with ridiculous amounts of dust that it caused me to be sick for weeks. On the side of management my roommates and I went away for Christmas break and then when we returned out bill for electricity was over the cap that was stated in our lease even though all the appliances we had were turned off. Overages happened every month making it more expensive than what we were told originally. The overall complex is dirty. Finally during the summer I was in a cast for a few days and the transportation shuttle didn’t pick me up at the stop so I had to sit outside for an extra 2 hours. I was not the only resident whom experienced bad reports from this place. My friend had bed bugs in there apartment and we moved out of the apartment into another one.
At first the stuff was so nice and helpful at helping me fill out my application for my lease agreement. I moved into my apartment a few weeks go as an “early move in”. I was told multiple times that before I move in my room it will be cleaned and then after the move out day the cleaners will come clean the rest of the house. (Bathroom , kitchen, and living room) it been a week and half nobody came so I went to office spoke to a stuff and she told me she will talk to the MANGER and get back to me. A couple day goes by and still no response....went back to the office and spoke to the same stuff and she told the MANGER still hasn’t gotten back to her to resolve to issue. But she told me they will come to clean the next day. I told the staff that I will be back tomorrow to speak to the MANGER because she was too busy that day. Went back to the office the next day and I asked to speak to a MANGER. But was told she was “busy to speak right now” because she was about to have a staff meeting. so I said I will wait until after the staff meeting to talk. Waited for 2 hours and went back check and another stuff told me she left the buliding and was not willing to stay to talk to me..... HOW RUDE!!!?!!?!!?!!! Btw the “cleaning crew” has yet to come to my appointment!! So anyways if You are trying to decide whether or not to sign the lease here DO NOT DO IT!!! TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT!!!
Do not move to this place. They suck you in with low rent and then overcharge you every month for utilities. They are full of promises before you sign your lease, but then you have to hound them to fulfill them once you've signed. Lived there for 4 years and would never recommend this place to any student. Also, they call themselves student housing, but there are very few students, especially professional students who want to live there. If you want a nice place to live and quiet to study, then do not move there.
Living spaces are very nice not many things needed fixed when I moved in but this shuttle bus breaks down as much as the PRT, doesn't stop everywhere on its route, picks up people who don't live here and transport them to places off-route. Making it inconvenient for students or people just waiting somewhere like at Mountaineer station (the first and last stop on route) they will skip stops often.
I moved in a couple months ago and I was shy as can be. living here with the pool and fitness center I have been able to meet other people and break out of my shell. everyone is super nice and it's just an awesome place to live.
