South Salt Lake City, the self-proclaimed “City on the Move” is a charming neighborhood known for its abundant commuters who travel into the greater Salt Lake area. Because South Salt Lake City sits only about five miles south of the heart of Salt Lake City’s booming downtown district, many people choose to rent in this neighborhood and commute downtown for work or leisure. Complete with its own version of Chinatown and some upscale sushi restaurants, South Salt Lake City has become a steadily growing community in the city. Because public transportation makes it simple to get around and apartment rental prices are lower than in downtown, South Salt Lake City is becoming more and more appealing to renters.

Property Ratings at The Ritz Classic
*update on 11/12, management turned off every single apartment's water due to a pipe burst and did not provide any warning or help to residents , other than an email. how am I to wash my hands, flush the toliet, make dinner? how are babies going to have formula if they need water to mix it?* I currently live here, and I am pursuing breaking my lease. Management has not listened to my four complaints that I have emailed them about since August. They went through a one-month gap without having an as-promised security officer (I know this because I called to complain and they informed me the service contract was expired). This complaint stems from a neighbor that blasts music, vibrating my walls at all hours of the day. It also included banging, clashing, and other noises that I can hear through my walls. I have lost sleep, and my "home" has become a place where I do not feel comfort. I have followed up with management (four times via email, twice with a phone call), I have emailed them ideas on how to mitigate this (sending out a mass email, moving me to a different apartment, putting up signs in the hallway), I have called security twice, and nothing has been done. Their last message to me was that they cannot do anything if they do not know what apartment it is. Ironically, I have called their hired security and have given them direction on which apartment it is. Ultimately, I feel as though I am doing their job. I am not one to normally complain, but DO NOT LIVE HERE. You are going to be unheard, unseen, and your complaints will be glossed over. Protect your peace and chose to live at a place where you feel comfort, peace, and that your management takes care of you.

We appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to address your concerns. Regarding the security team, we recommend regularly checking your email, as we use this method to keep all residents informed about changes. Similarly, we sent out a mass email with details regarding the emergency water shut-off, and we are pleased to share that our team worked diligently to restore water within just a few hours. When it comes to noise complaints, we take them very seriously as we strive to ensure all our residents can fully enjoy their homes. In your case, we took the necessary steps and communicated with both parties involved. We apologize if our processes did not meet your expectations. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors and appreciate your time with us. Thank you The Ritz Classic Management Team
I began my lease here in 2020, and I must warn potential renters to reconsider. Despite not being one to write reviews, I feel compelled to spare others the frustration I experienced—look for another place! Although the initially enticing prices may lure you in, the management’s incompetence, unprofessional conduct, the building’s lack of cleanliness, paper thin walls, and the perpetual chaos of street and garage parking will leave you pleading to relocate. I don’t expect you to take my word for it. The evidence lies within the building itself. While the leasing office area appears pleasant, the actual units you tour might be clean and smell good. However, when walking the halls, be prepared for a constant soundtrack of barking dogs (which persists day and night, if you work from home, be ready to cope with this). The repugnant odors emanating from neglected and overflowing trash rooms are unavoidable. I implore you to scrutinize the details during your tour—observe the exterior of the doors, often grimy and unkempt. Take a look at the windows; during my 36 months here, they were cleaned only once. Pay attention to the inside of the elevators for accumulating trash and crumbs. Moreover, I strongly advise examining the East side of the building (200 East). There, you’ll encounter overflowing dog waste receptacles and undoubtedly multiple residents smoking cigarettes near dead grass, litter-strewn sidewalks, and urine-soaked areas. Exercise caution around the outdoor benches; after sunset, they become a haven for potentially dangerous individuals who might break into parked cars during the night. Go elsewhere! you’ll be grateful to yourself later. It’s simply not worth the hassle!

Hello there, We appreciate you taking the time to leave us with your feedback. We're sorry to hear this is your opinion of our community. Our maintenance team works diligently on the upkeep of the community, both in terms of cleanliness and maintenance, and we're confident in their abilities to resolve any concerns around the property. Thank you again for your time, and we wish you the best. Ritz Classic
Lived here for a year and a half — they would ignore maintenance requests and I’d have to go to the office in person to demand things be fixed. Even after moving out, I had an address mishap and had important mail delivered to my old locker, instead of helping me, they ignored my multiple messages and in-person visits where I left my contact info. What’s the point of leaving a forwarding address? The front office simply does not want to do the work. Plus, you pay for amenities but the hot tub was closed for 75% of winter and so was the parking gate. There were multiple car break-ins IN the garage as well as homeless people sleeping there.

Hello there, We appreciate your honest feedback, but are saddened to hear your experience with us was not the most positive. We strive to take care of all service requests as quickly as we're able, and we're sorry to hear we may have missed the mark here. We do collect forwarding addresses in order for us to mail out any final correspondence, but we do not forward your personal mail or deliveries; that is something that needs to be updated with USPS. Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you the best in your new home. Take care, The Ritz Classic Apartment Homes
They require you to use fastel as your internet provider. Fastel barely works. It's 100$ for internet that only works half the time. My mobile data is much better than fastel. Stay clear.

Hello, We are very apologetic this has driven you away from the Ritz. Are you a current resident experiencing this concern? Please give us a call if there is anything we can assist you with. Thank you for your feedback.
I was excited to move into these apartments (2019). They were brand new, super friendly staff, lots of activities going on. Most importantly, I thought I was moving to a more "secure" place after living right across the street and getting a bullet through my wall there. However, the gates are often broken, break-ins occur regularly, the security guards at night are a joke, tools were stolen, and bikes have been stolen from the "monitored" bike room. Moral of the story: NOT SECURE. It was still an upgrade from my last place. But the employees have taken advantage of the "corporate regulated" inspections where the walk-through is done without the tenant. I have had multiple friends get nothing back from their security deposit. Apartments are supposed to take care of the standard cleaning after a tenant moves out. However, they make the tenants pay for it. Don't plan to get your security deposit back. I left the place cleaner than I received it (I had dirty feet for weeks because they didn't clean after their construction workers.). They also like to like and deny it, I called them out, and they keep lying, saying that the floors weren't swept or mopped (I have photos that show it still wet from the mopping). They add fees for other items that aren't even part of the lease. Ritz is very much so a business that has no sense of customer service. Clearly, very disappointed.

Hello there, Thank you for your candid review. We're sorry to hear you had a scary experience at the community you lived at prior to The Ritz. As it is with downtown living, car break ins occur, especially if you are parked outside of the property, but it can happen anywhere. We're sorry to hear you weren't happy with your move in- we wish we would have heard from you at the time as we would have taken additional action. We have discussed move-out charges at length with you, we have provided pictures substantiating the charges, and we have gone through both your lease, and your move out expectations email. Unfortunately, when those are not met, you will have charges to bring the apartment to the same condition it was when you moved in, minus normal wear and tear. None of your charges were excessive, nor were they unjustified. Chares were minimal, you didn’t owe extra money, as your deposit was sufficient to cover all of the charges, and still have some left that got refunded to you. Our charges are very fair, we don’t make any money, we charge back exactly what our vendors charged us for basic clean and carpet clean, and any replacements needed. And again, we do not charge you for anything that was not agreed upon by you on the lease. If you have further questions, you are always welcome to email us or stop by the office to discuss it. We do wish you the best in your new home and endeavors. Kind Regards, Ritz Management.
This was by far the worst living experience I have ever had! If you are looking to live inside a community where residents party until early morning without any consequences, then this is the place to be. Management was not supportive at all and I reported the neighbor several times for having parties until early morning where my apartment below was shaking from the loud music. Isolation in the building is also horrible. I heard my neighbors talk, watch tv or whatever. When I was leaving the management charged me for all sorts of unreasonable cleaning fees and I was probably the cleanest tenant there! Overall, I would not recommend anyone to live there.

Hello, Thank you for talking the time to share your experience with us. We're sorry to hear you did not have a better time with us. Noise complaints can be tricky to address and ensuring they are addressed with the proper legal steps takes time. If you would like to discuss your move out costs in further detail, we are very open to that conversation. Please do not hesitate to reach out to customerservice@weidner.com, we would be happy to review everything with you.

For location, amenities, and staff - The Ritz blows their competition out of the water! I was able to tour with Nils and was very impressed with the finishes and options for apartments. The pool and grill area is amazing and so clean! There is even workout areas, showers, and a great sports lounge for the residents. They even pay homage to the bowling alley that was originally in their location and I love it! The staff is very gracious and patient with questions and needs. I have never been treated better when apartment shopping than here. It is definitely worth touring and applying for.

We toured the Ritz Classic on a scouting trip to SLC. After visiting a few other ‘luxury’ apartments this one blew us away. Nils and the team were super friendly, welcoming and professional. Nils made us feel like they actually wanted us to live there. The apartments are modern and clean, with spacious layouts and high ceilings. The apartments grounds have all the nice amenities you’d expect. We toured multiple floor plans and never felt rushed or pressured. We are looking to relocate to SLC and the Ritz is at the top of our list!
