Property Ratings at The Rockefeller
Significant problems persist since Michelle took over as manager in 2019. The place has gone WAY downhill under her management. e.g. A maintenance request in August took about two weeks to get a response (decided to eventually fix the maintenance issue ourselves) and current maintenance request was submitted almost 48 hours ago, still no response. Had to go to front office and ask for a response. e.g. The front office phone number never works - I called it as I watched the staff talk among themselves and it goes straight to voicemail, doesn't even ring. e.g. Alleyway gateway entrance has been broken for two weeks and is not fixed, (does not close correctly, so anyone can access the alleyway/apartments from the street). e.g. Gym equipment is not maintained. Treadmill broke and wasn't fixed for months. Ceiling leaks and mold is starting to spread. Sanitary wipes are never available. Nothing gets fixed or cleaned.
Property Manager at The Rockefeller, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your residency and review. We take all feedback seriously at The Rockefeller and use it to improve our services however necessary and when possible. Items you have mentioned either have been repaired (such as the gym ceiling), are in the process of repair, or have not needed work at all. We welcome your call at (757) 352-2244 so that we can make sure your home is properly maintained and nothing has gone unnoticed. At that time, we can also review any concerns you have with common areas and let you know the status of anything that happens to be under repair. Additionally, we would like future residents to be aware that only permitted fob holders have access to our building. The gate is under a work order, but it is not our primary security measure. We apologize for any inconvenience this caused. Resident satisfaction is our top priority, so we hope to hear from you soon.
This building has opted for cheaper materials in what was supposed to be a luxury apartment. The construction barely ended and already it has begun again on a new addition directly behind the main building. The staff has been rotated and we are on our 3rd leasing manager. Even with cameras and a keyfob entry crime has still managed to succeed but management did nothing until their own belongings were stolen. The maintenance worker does not bother to clean the washer/dryer or air filter. If you have an alert for regularly scheduled replacements on appliances he will just reset them and make an excuse about why they shouldn't be replaced. Leaks have been plaguing this building but it will take weeks for them to fix it leading to mold issues. Many have moved out and it hasn't been a year since it has opened!
The Rockefeller is the perfect place for downtown living. This historic building has been brought back to life and provides all the luxury feel of a high-end complex but at an affordable price. It is tucked away on a quiet street that is just steps away from all the energy and excitement of downtown. The management staff is very friendly and helpful - they will be sure to help you pick the perfect space. The common areas are beautifully designed and spacious enough for entertaining friends. The Rockefeller has several different floor plans that make it easy to find the perfect fit, while all having the same high end finishes and full-sized, brand new appliances (including a washer/dryer and dishwasher - things you won't find in a lot of other apartment communities in the area). The building was clearly designed with the renter in mind (fans in the apartment, spacious closets for storage, wide halls, beautiful windows) and each floor has a different fun element that has been restored from the original building, from original doors to original floors. You really cannot beat the value and beauty of this building.
We are in a two bedroom loft and we are enjoying our new space. Although construction is still ongoing, we rarely hear anything within our unit. We look forward to the amenities in the future , but nothing can beat the downtown area. We are literally steps away from our favorite restaurants and minutes away to the interstate. The property manager, Lauren, is the consummate professional with unmatched attention to detail. She has made our transition a breeze!!
