Property Ratings at The Savoy
I recently moved to The Savoy and I have absolutely loved it so far! The unit is spacious, comfortable, and was extremely clean when I moved in. The Resident Manager, Amber, is absolutely lovely and extremely helpful, making the move-in process very smooth. I really love the neighborhood and the building, and would definitely recommend it to those looking for a nice, safe, and convenient building!
These may not be the newest apartments but you get a lot for your money. Large apartments, great balconies, great views, great location. Amber, the property manager has been excellent. My daughter is a student at GWU and this is a great location and great choice.
The Savoy is the best property in the West End. The building is managed great by the property manager Amber, the concierge team, as well as the maintenance crew. The rare issue I had in my unit was handled with care. Any package I had delivered, including perishable items, was received with love by Nicole, Hanna, Sharon and Guyeth. The neighborhood has continued to expand its dining options, with the nearby Mercy Me. With a perfect location and an amazing staff- you can't go wrong living here. You will be taken care of at The Savoy!
I came to the Savoy in August 2019 and stayed through March 2021. First and foremost I want to point out that Amber is great! She has an uncanny ability to remember names and faces after only meeting once. I've noticed this not just with me, but with everyone. Amber always greets you by name (even in the time of Covid, with masks covering half your face), and I find that to be such a nice touch. The 24/7 front desk is very convenient, and I've never had a problem with them. The location is also wonderful. Very central and close to many great things. Unfortunately, this became less relevant because of Covid, which is the main reason I moved. One unfortunate aspect of the location is that it's on a three-way intersection (22nd, L, and New Hampshire). This can be a bit dangerous/annoying at times, so just be careful of that. I also love that all (almost all?) of the apartments have a balcony. I was on the 8th floor facing the Ritz, which was very nice. Overall, would highly recommend. I enjoyed my time there.
I moved to DC for grad school and I'm glad I chose to live at the Savoy. Convenient location (near GW and DuPont circle), great amenities, and the apartments I've seen are a decent size--many have spacious balconies too. Most importantly, all of the staff members are kind and very helpful/accomodating, making living here a real pleasure!
I lived here for nearly 2 years and moved out due to COVID. Aside from the great location, it is a really nice building and the staff (especially Amber) are awesome! The building is always kept super clean and the staff was always very quick to respond whenever I needed help with anything maintenance related. The pool in the summer is also amazing. Aside from the upkeep of the building itself, the staff really does a great job of making the building feel like home - they take the time to get to know your name and know you as a person. This is a complete contrast to what I have experienced at other buildings and you really get the feeling that the staff cares about you and your wellbeing. When we move past COVID, I am definitely planning to move back to this building. Highly recommend!
We had to find an apartment on a moment's notice for my daughter when GW closed the dorms. I called Amber and she couldn't have been more helpful. Worked with me and 3 other families (roommates) to put everything together quickly. Described the unit in great detail, took pictures, even offered to see if the current tenant wanted to sell any of his furniture that he had left behind! Move in couldn't have been smoother. We were so happy with the unit. It was clean and the location was great. Amber was incredibly helpful with move in also answering all of our questions and doing whatever she could to help the move go smoothly. The maintenance man was also wonderful when we accidentally threw something down the trash chute and had to retrieve it! Finally the people working the front desk couldn't be nicer and I feel comfortable as a parent knowing that they will make sure that only people who belong in the building get in. And another plus....they are COVID conscious! My daughter loves living at The Savoy and as a parent I feel good knowing that the management and staff are so great. I had originally thought she might just be there until the dorms open up, but I don't know if she'll want to leave for a long time :)
I lived in the Savoy for a little over two years and am sad to be moving out! Management is warm, friendly, and responsive. The price is great, especially given the location (close to Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Dupont, Georgetown, Starbucks, walking distance to GW, K Street) and the pool and gym are an added bonus. Highly recommend.
I had a great experience living at the Savoy for 2 years, and would highly recommend it. It had the perfect location between Dupont Circle, Georgetown, and Foggy Bottom. The management and concierges were very friendly, responsive, and accommodating. The building was also very well maintained and all my service requests were take care of quickly. Couldn’t have asked for anything more!
My friend needed help moving an elderly tenant, so I pitched in. Property management and staff were super helpful and responsive. A pleasure to deal with!
The property manager, Amber, and the rest of the staff at The Savoy make the living experience easy and enjoyable.
The Savoy is located in a great location to call home. It is just a few steps away from GWU hospital and school. The residents are friendly and Amber was such a great help! I recommend this location to anyone who is determined to reach their goals and to try something new!
My son moved in 2 years ago while attending GW. Super convenient to the campus. Safe building with some on duty at the door 24x7. On site laundry, fitness center and rooftop pool. Ms. Cato, Resident Manager, has been amazing during is stay. Staff is very friendly and maintenance team is knowledgeable.
Great location, and great building to live in. A fine place to call home.
I’ve been living in The Savoy for the past 5.5 years, and my experience here has only continued to improve with time. The building is older, but to me that’s a positive, as it is sturdy and well-built, and it has certain unique features like marble countertops in the bathroom and lights over each unit’s door. Due to its age, the building is also rent-controlled, which keeps prices from increasing too much year to year. Over the last couple years, management has put a great deal of effort into modernizing the hallway carpets and walls, the lobby, and the pool furniture. The apartments themselves are spacious, bright, and well-maintained. The walk-in closet, huge balcony, and the shape of the living space itself (for a studio) are my favorite aspects of my individual unit. As for the building, the 24 hour front desk and especially the pool are two big reasons why I don’t plan to move for the foreseeable future. The location is another—walkable to Georgetown, Dupont, U Street, downtown, and 4 metro lines (red, blue, orange, silver). If I ever have a maintenance issue, the response time is super quick and my concerns are rapidly addressed. Noise is sometimes an issue due mostly to the large student population in the building, but that too has improved over time. Thanks to Amber, the building manager, for making it a pleasure to live here!
I just moved into the Savoy and it is so spacious! I love the balcony and the in-building gym and pool, and the building manager Amber was so incredibly helpful during the application and leasing process. She made the move so smooth and was always available to answer a question.
Moved my daughter into a great Savoy apartment this past weekend. Not only is this apartment complex great for any students from the nearby schools but also for anyone who wants to be in a great and convenient Washington DC neighborhood. A variety of room types available. Staff there from the resident manager Ms. Cato to the 24 hour on site entrance staff - everyone is great at the apartment complex! Very nice rooftop pool with lifeguard and fantastic workout room available 24/7. Highly, highly recommend The Savoy to anyone looking for a GREAT place to live.
I lived at the Savoy for my final year of undergrad at GW. The apartment was both spacious and convenient, which is often difficult to find in the area. The Resident Manager, Amber, is incredibly efficient and tentative to the needs of her residents. Our questions or concerns were always dealt with thoroughly and efficiently.
I have lived in The Savoy for years now, and I highly recommend it for so many reasons! (1) Unbeatable location: It's equidistant from the Blue/Orange/Silver Lines and the Red Line. It's also near a city bus stop. It's located in a super safe, clean, walking-friendly neighborhood. Georgetown and Dupont Circle are easy walks away! (2) Friendly, Helpful, Responsive Staff: The staff here are wonderful! Many of them are new to the building, having only arrived in the past year or two. Amber, the Resident Manger, is incredibly warm, responsive, helpful, and friendly. If I have a maintenance issue or a question, she ensures that it is addressed the same day. She responds to emails promptly, and is very accommodating. She goes out of her way to ensure her residents are taken care of and that The Savoy is a great place to call home. Nicole and Charles at the front desk are also terrific — they always greet residents with huge smiles, and do everything they can to help you out. (3) Utilities are included in the rent, which is a huge cost savings! The rents are also very competitive for such an expensive area. (4) Amenities: The rooftop pool is an awesome feature in the summer. The 24-hour gym is a major perk. Having a 24-hour doorman to accept your packages (and for safety) is very helpful. (5) Although it is an older building (built in 1964), that means you get more square footage for the money you pay — the brand new apartments being built these days tend to be much smaller. In addition, the lobby, gym, and hallway carpeting and painting were recently redone, which modernized the look and feel quite a bit.
great convenient location and friendly staff. Couldn't have asked for more!
My experience living in the Savoy has been excellent. You cannot beat the location, just minutes away from DuPont Circle, and the price is the most competitive you’ll find in the area. The Savoy’s best quality, though, is the management. Amber is kind, incredibly responsive, and willing to go above and beyond to ensure the residents remain happy. She is also very in-the-know about the area, and a great resource to have on the premises. I also enjoy the ad hoc social events. When there have been maintenance problems, the technicians always fix it within the day. I truly can’t recommend living here enough!
Location: The Savoy has a perfect location in Foggy Bottom, near both Foggy Bottom metro and Farragut North station. It's close to CVS, Walgreens, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods. I don't have a car and I am able to get everything I need in the area on foot. Foggy Bottom/West End also has a number of restaurants, and you're within 10 min walking of DuPont Circle which also has great restaurants and bars. You're also walking distance to museums within DuPont area. I also like to be outdoors, and you're very close to Rock Creek Parkway which is great for walking, running, and biking, as is the Canal path, down by Georgetown Waterfront. The waterfront has great restaurants and views, a movie theater, and a park. Finally, you're walking distance to the monuments. Apartment perks: The apartments themselves have beautiful hardwood floors and they are kept in good condition--they are thoroughly cleaned and retouched every time someone moves out so the place looks like new when you're ready to move in. There is a rooftop pool with great views, and a gym that is perfect if, like me, you're on a budget and short on time--it has the bare essentials to get in a good workout and saves a ton of time and money. If you're willing to invest a bit more in fitness, there's an Equinox up the street that has great classes. Yes--the apartments are older. Most places in DC are, especially for reasonable prices. But the building is kept up well and any issues that come up are dealt with expediently by management and the building facilities crew. Management: The people in the building are nice and respectful, with a mix of younger and older residents. The biggest appeal for me is the management--the building manager is incredibly responsive to any concerns and works to make sure her residents are happy. She's always on top of any requests and goes out of her way to make sure everything is working well and cares about her residents. The building also hosts events on location occasionally to help residents get to know each other. Another appeal for me is the front desk--they accept packages for you so you don't have to worry about being home to receive a package or having it sit outside your door; they are also super friendly and nice people who know their residents and are very helpful.
We are moving in next month and so far Amber, the manager, has been fantastic. She is professional, kind and well organized. The apartment building is clean and convenient. It has not been updated recently, but the apartment and building are functional and have a modern and progressive feel. I have moved at least 15 times in my life and dealt with a wide array of managers and owners. Amber is top notch and made us feel as though we matter; and that in fact, all the tenants matter.
It is by far the worst apartment complex I've ever lived at. The apartment complex was built in the 1960s, and the inside definitely shows that. The interior is substandard with very old appliances (no dishwasher and microwave) and hideous parquet flooring. When I moved in, the AC unit was completely full of mold, and when I informed the building about it, the response was to use bleach...The building has all the smell that you would expect from an almost 60-year-old building. In addition, the floor that I lived on had one resident whose smell permeated from the apartment and to such a terrible extent that I actually called maintenance to make sure that the resident was not dead. I was staying in an apartment facing L street, and I honestly should have gotten out of my lease right then and there. The Savoy faces the firehouse and quite a busy one as exhibited by the constant sirens that wail every hour on the hour. Countless times I was woken up by a siren. High quality ear plugs might work but good luck if there's ever a fire and you need to hear the alarm. Also, the water in the building would change unexpectedly from cold to scalding hot. The list of problems could go on and on, but I'll wrap this up with a quick overview of the staff here. The concierge and maintenance people were fine. But management was the worst. They're so concentrated on making as much money as possible that they are unwilling to help out in any way. The building has been consistently losing residents over the years, so now management is under pressure to rob the wallets of the remaining residents. I was moving to another state after I finished up school, so I asked management if I could vacate early and pay only the rent for the month or two that the apartment was not rerented. Management agreed. After I had paid for movers to move all my things into a storage unit, management informed me that they will not rerent my apartment and instead are waiting for the lease to expire. I was completely lied to. I even offered to help the management find a new tenant, but they refused. I moved out early to save some money but instead I spent over $1000 moving out and paying for storage and now am stuck still paying rent. Their reason for not helping me out: tenant occupancy is too low. Do yourself a favor and rent somewhere else like anywhere else. This place is too expensive, too shabby, and too money grubbing for anyone to spend their money on. ?
Great location. Great place to stay. Close to metro.
