About The School House
School House Apartments is located in the national historic district of Deutschtown, Pittsburgh! The landmark building was once the Latimer Middle School designed by German-born Pittsburgh architect, Frederick C. Sauer. Built in 1898, the historic landmark is a yellow, four-story building with a variety of different style windows. On the fourth floor, in south-facing apartments, you'll get the most stunning views of downtown Pittsburgh. Right behind the School House sits the Allegheny General Hospital, and to the west is a handful of parks and the National Aviary. We sit 1.2 miles from PNC Park and the Andy Warhol Museum, and 1.6 miles from Acrisure Stadium. There are many amazing local restaurants and small owned businesses that are within walkable distance from the School House too. With 77 total units and 55 different floor plans, we are sure to have something that you will love. We have studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts available. Some layouts have additional loft areas with spiral staircases! In the building, we have a community gym that is open 24 hours, community laundry machines (coin-operated), and a lounge area with sofas, a TV, and a pool table. We do accept small dogs and cats, with some restrictions.

Deutschtown, also known as East Allegheny, boasts a spirit as loud as its history with a distinctive blend of residential and commercial offerings. Situated on Pittsburgh’s North Side, Deutschtown exudes a pervasive sense of historic charm, touting a slew of colorful and red-brick buildings that pay homage to the neighborhood’s storied past.
Many of these historic buildings contain independent eateries, shops, cafes, bars, and service-oriented businesses. The buildings also house various rentals, from renovated lofts to charming townhomes and everything in between.

Property Ratings at The School House
As of today, October 15 of 2024 this listing is completely false. The pricing is not correct. The amenities are completely not available. This is in line with what you can expect from Delta while you stay here. They are a terrible company in that they do not help you with basic maintenance request. They have horrible business practices, such as retroactive rent increases. The building is not safe. You cannot hear the fire alarms and they do not care. It is currently about 75% empty because of these sad practices. Beware!
The apartment complex needs some updating (Entrance way, gym , garage, rec area, etc...) my apartment is very spacious however. I was surprised when I first visited. The appliance could be updated but I believe the space makes up for it. The walls and fixtures could have been painted better as well. The management seems to drag their feet on issues slowly at times. Overall I have had an OK/Good experience.
This is about as cheap as you can get while still being within walking distance to a free T station/downtown. The building and each apartment is unique. Great location, central to the North Shore and Downtown. Safe area, despite historically bad reputation - haven't had any problems yet. Very helpful/kind management. - 15 minute walk to PNC Park and T station. - If your apartment faces south, may get a great view of the city skyline Cons: - outdated building and amentities. They're in the process of renovating a few things, but the gym I'm sure will remain untouched. - windows don't open, must use A/C and fans in the summer - parking garage (additional $) isn't attached to the building. it is beside the building, but you have to walk outside to get to it.
Originally constructed in 1898, The School House is part of the Duetchtown historic District, a neighborhood of small-scaled 19th and 20th century buildings on the Northside of Pittsburgh. The building was named the Latimer School in 1913 in honor of Alexander C. Latimer, an Irish immigrant active on the Third Ward School Board. A landmark of the neighborhood's educational life- first as an elementary school and then as a junior high school- The School House is now providing lessons in the good life to a new generation. Each apartment is unique, while the hallways and staircases retain elements of the original school's architecture. The building is secure, and has plenty amenities which most modern young professionals appreciate as conveniences. I have lived in a number of apartments in this building since 2006, and have found that the building is well maintained and the management staff is attentive and responsive to any issues that may arise. I would strongly recommendation this building for anyone who is looking for a distinctive apartment to make your home.
