Legendary Americans from Frederick Douglass to Woodrow Wilson have called Dupont Circle home at various points over the past two centuries, and it continues to be a highly desirable place to live. The historic architecture of the neighborhood (particularly in the Victorian-era rowhouses) contributes to a distinctly European flair in much of Dupont Circle. This, combined with the presence of numerous foreign embassies and countless international restaurants, creates an unparalleled cosmopolitan atmosphere.
The dining scene also includes a vast selection of more traditional eateries, low-key coffee shops, and convenient grocery stores, giving most folks the option to pick up a quick bite to eat or a week’s worth of necessities with ease. For off hours, museums and galleries are close at hand, and the eclectic nightlife offerings span from alternative rock venues to glitzy clubs to high-end cocktail bars.

Property Ratings at The Sedgewick Apartments
Safety is a huge issue. There was and still is a huge issue with the place reeking of cigs and weed. I never have packages delivered here because of theft issues. A friend who lives in the building heard a fight in the hallway at 2am. You can pay a bit more to live in a far safer building.
If you choose to live at the Sedgewick, expect many of your packages, groceries, or other deliveries to be stolen on a regular basis. As other reviews mention, packages have been regularly stolen over the past year/even more I believe and management has been aware of this issue, yet continues to do nothing to remedy it. Every single resident I know has had multiple packages stolen and been gaslit by management about the issue and what can be done when they tried to make a complaint. They've been saying for months they don't have the capacity to figure out the issue - but don't worry, they have been able to continue to renovate and add marketing materials for attracting new renters, all while ignoring current residents' complaints. As a disabled person, I'm already prone to high anxiety and stress and have less capacity to buy the things I need in-person, which means receiving anything (medication, birthday gift from a relative, various household items, etc.) is extremely stressful because I have to be so vigilant about when it arrives. Yet sometimes, due to my schedule, I'm simply unable to be home when a package arrives if I wasn't able to ask for a signature to be required (which is such a pain by the way), so things continue to go missing. Even the "secure" package room isn't secure at all; there are no security cameras in there and every time I go in I see more packages that have been opened and emptied or opened and deemed not worthy of being stolen. I don't even blame whoever is responsible, I blame the management people for continuing to do nothing except offer bad advice that's hard to follow or tell a resident having a safe place to receive packages is a luxury anyways - yikes; guess it's not a luxury Sedegwick residents are worthy of. If you plan to never receive packages or order food etc for delivery, I think the Sedgewick is a fine place to live for the price and location. Otherwise, get ready to lose hundreds of dollars over the course of your tenancy.
