Rising out of the prairies and cornfields of the heartland, Omaha serves as a cultural wellspring and economic powerhouse for the region. Downtown has seen a lot of development in recent years, and now serves up a huge selection of trendy shopping, dining, and entertainment, particularly around the Old Market; the Blackstone neighborhood has also emerged as a new hotspot for adventurous restauranteurs and hip nightlife. The robust live music scene in Omaha is one of the city’s worst-kept secrets, with national publications singing the praises of popular venues like the Waiting Room and the annual Maha Music Festival at Stinson Park.
Omaha is serious about college sports – the University of Nebraska’s Cornhuskers are hometown heroes, and the city is the longtime home to the College World Series every summer.

Property Ratings at The Selma
The benefits of living at the Selma are obvious: Wood floors, exposed brick, nice appliances, well-maintained buildings, and the little amenities (like dog waste bags by the dumpster) that make Urban Village buildings a pleasant place to live. The location is also convenient for getting to downtown or on the highway to head west, and we walk sometimes to Midtown. That said, I don't think my wife would walk around alone at night. This is also a great place for dog owners (as many of the renters are), because there is courtyard lawn area, and the quick trip from downtown makes it easy to pop home over lunch. Having lived there over two years, there are a few things that can bug us. First, the washer/dryer unit is nice in theory, but it take a long time for a load to get through both the wash and dry cycles, and having only one unit means you can do only one load at a time. Second, the heat/AC is often blowing air, and it can be quite loud -- sometimes we have to turn it off when we watch a movie. Overall, great apartment, and I recommend it to those looking to pretty close to downtown without all the expense of it.
