Property Ratings at The Sheffield SoNo
The noise between floors has always been bad, but has gotten worse in the past year. You can hear drawers opening, chairs moving, someone getting in and out of bed and footsteps in every part of the unit. We have to turn the volume up on the TV when our neighbors arrive home. How much you like this building is solely based off how loud your upstairs neighbor is. The recent change in noise is because the apartment management group decided to remove the carpeting in the bedroom. There is no minimum requirement for carpeting in the lease and there aren't even quiet hours listed in the lease. They weren't transparent with current residents about this change and could care less about the impact. As others mentioned, there are constant emails about picking up packages and dog poop. Issues with the elevators are weekly. Service has been responsive, but usually takes 3-4 requests for the issue to be corrected. They recently starting auditing cars for parking tags and placed numerous tow notices on cars. I would never recommend for someone to live here.
Property Manager at The Sheffield SoNo, Responded To This Review
Hi there. We're disappointed you feel this way. Please give us a call directly so we can address these matters. Thanks.
Im very happy here and will extend. Its a beautiful unit amazing location. I feel the leasing office bends over backwards to be helpful and all my maintenance requests are managed quickly. The pool and gym are always empty which is nice during COVID and i always get a slot the day I want.
It's expensive for the quality at the moment and the recent mall addition was the turning point for us. Otherwise we loved living in SoNo.
We have had ongoing issues with our HVAC in one bedroom not maintaining the temperature. The entire system also broke the first week we moved in during a heat wave in July and they did not have a backup plan for the “custom” systems and we had to wait a week with temperatures in the high 90’s and humid for what we feel is an inefficient system for our unit. I would not recommend living here. There is high staff turnover with the office and maintenance. The trash rooms pile up with trash on the weekends on our floor. The outdoor parking is not safe with people wandering through at night and I asked to have cameras reviewed of an actual incident and was told that they had to ask management to do that. The elevator also seems to be often malfunctioning. Though it has a nice water view, we can’t open our shades to see it or our apartment temperature will soar (in October we are still using our a/c?). Something is not working right here.
Clean facility, great office folks, incredibly convenient to the restaurants/bars in SoNo and a quality living space
Thank you so much for fixing my AC...it was quite hot and I'??m very happy it could be resolved yesterday. (I'??m sorry I didn'??t catch his name!) but he was so efficient and really made sure that everything was in working order multiple times. Can'??t say enough good things!
The gentleman who assisted me was very kind, courteous and timely.
We're new to the area and don't know anyone here to make the recommendation.
Things are not the same as when we first moved in perhaps due to the high staff turnover. The coffee machine is often out of supplies and has currently been out of service for a week. A chair is missing in the community room and it doesn't have the same feel as it did before the water leak that occurred. The fireplace is never on. There haven't been as many community events. When it snows, the walkways aren't shoveled/salted as quickly as they used to be. Trash is left in the stair well for weeks. Entrance rugs are in disrepair. The elevators smell although it's better when it's cold out.
Krystal is a true asset to your company. As someone who looked at 13 properties in south norwalk in one day, many of those with leasing agents, Krystal stood out from the pack. She was knowledgeable, helpful, patient and nice. I absolutely look forward to my time at The Sheffield and I have high hopes that it will be everything that I am looking for.
The staff, amenities and apartment all exceeded my expectations. From the package pickup service to the free wrapping station and resident events, I cannot recommend the Sheffield enough :)
The only drawback I would comment on for 77 N. Water is the smell of garbage in the vestibule and the elevator lobby. Lousy design to have the trash and recycling in that area
Main reason not to recommend would be how high the rent is but otherwise I would definitely recommend.
YES
In fact another family member is leasing an apartment in another city with your group based on our great experience
I love our apartment community. The leasing staff are very friendly and helpful. I would absolutely recommend this complex to anyone.
The location is amazing - South Norwalk has become an awesome place to live with more restaurants, fantastic yoga studio down the street, etc.
I love the location and the view from my apartment. I also love the layout of my apartment, but it is very noisy when the heat/AC is on. You can also hear footsteps from the upstairs. I would not recommend the Sheffield SONO for the issues with the noise.
I had issues with dishwasher. Never worked and they never fixed it. On moving out, they said they were replacing for new tenant.
The Sheffield is a great apartment community - amazing location in the heart of SoNo and beautiful units. The building is very well-constructed, so you don't hear your neighbors at all. The newly renovated community space is beautiful, and has a ton of books for borrowing and comfortable chairs. The pool area is clean and really nice, complete with a state-of-the-art grill. Importantly, the people who live here are very friendly - it must be all those super sweet pet owners! The on-site staff are very accommodating too. And you can't beat smelling the water when you leave your apartment - the neighborhood has that beachy, sea smell which is very relaxing. You can't go wrong renting here!
Property Manager at The Sheffield SoNo, Responded To This Review
Hello There, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are happy to hear you are enjoying the community. Please be sure to reach out if there is anything you need. Thanks again! The Sheffield
We just moved into our two bedroom river side apartment. Process was very smooth. Personnel are nice, accomodating and professional. Views are wonderful and location couldnt be better. Right across the street from a nature walk and just a few minute walk to the historic downtown with loads of restaurants. Extremely pet friendly. There was even a leasing office pool party and barbecue the day we moved in.
I would recommend the Sheffield based on the location and amenities, but it can be very noisy time to time.
Apartment is in a great location. The pool area is nice, and being by the river and Oyster Shell Park really nice.
I absolutely would, I really love it here - the only thing I would say is it would be hard to recommend if the rent was much higher. The building is beautifully maintained and South Norwalk has seen great growth but I don't think I could recommend for much more rent.
I would because the environment is caring. I also believe that selection of good hearted renters/residents is helpful. Character and mix of good people on board is always important..... class has nothing to do with money. it is the way and character of the person and his/her virtues and morality that counts.
I think this community is wonderful. I was very sorry to see Mike leave and need to get to know the new office people.
Depending on what people need or want, it is a well maintained building in a great location, with some good amenities. It is pricey. The indoor parking was a big plus.
Location is great. Facility is nice. Apartment is adequate (wish there was a bot more storage/closet space).
