Situated in the heart of America's Heartland, Ames is a college town in central Iowa. The city wraps around its stellar Iowa State University, the state's flagship university and a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities. Living in Ames, you'll be able to visit the university's museums, including the Brunnier Art Museum, the Anderson Sculpture Garden, and the Farm House Museum -- a National Historic Landmark, built in 1860 and the first building on campus. You'll also be able to attend Iowa State Cyclones sports events. The football team began in 1878 and is now part of NCAA Division I as a member of the Big 12 Conference.

The office staff worked hard to get us in on time. It would make five stars if the hallways did not smell like cigarettes and if we did not smell some weird type of fish smell.
I moved here last semester when I started classes and it has been a great place to live. They hold lots of events to meet people and their staff is very nice and respectful.

Staff very friendly. Maintenance is a little messy and leaves things behind. A little disappointed with the amount of things being to be fixed (i.e. blinds, dryer door, bathroom drawer and shelving, fridge shelving) after moving in.

Snow cleaning was poor as there was lots of ice all over our parking. Other than that it’s been alright so far moving out due to them starting to charge utilities

I enjoy living at Social West Ames. It’s fairly priced and the amenities are great. The only complaints I have are regarding noise and occasional difficulty paying rent. I live in Steinbeck right near South Dakota Ave, so it gets very loud with cars and buses. For paying rent, sometimes extra fees are strangely added on that I have to work with the office to get removed and it occasionally deletes my payment info which takes a bit to set back up. Other than these things, I think it’s a good first/college apartment with good amenities.

Maintenence requests are fixed in a timely manner and utilities are nice. Walls are also thick so you cannot hear your neighbors much. Events hosted by the complex happen with little warning, so they are hard to attend.

The space is nice and the price is very fair for what you get, the only thing is maintenance requests take an abnormally long amount of time and sometimes aren’t fixed the first time around.

i am currently living in West Ames Apartments, and I am absolutely loving it! The location is fantastic, with easy access to shops, parks, and public transportation. The management team is friendly and responsive, always addressing any concerns promptly. The amenities are impressive, too! I am enjoying the well-maintained fitness center and the inviting community lounge, which is perfect for socializing with neighbours i am finding the community to be welcoming, and I appreciate the organized events that help bring residents together. , I am having a wonderful experience at West Ames Apartments, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to live

Love the amenities and the apartment. I wish that maintenance was faster when we have issues that need to be addressed quickly such as an AC that went out at the end of June when it was 90 degrees outside.

When moving here I was extremely nervous to live with a stranger and in a town that I barely know. I was matched with a nice and quiet roommate and have been slowly getting to know the town better.

The apartment complex has nice amenities. The rooms are spacious. I also like the garage feature. The problem areas, maintenance and updating the units. The staff are about average, nothing special about the team.

Maintenance came fast for the few requests we made. The gym is pretty nice and available 24/7. I've never been to any, but The Social always posts community events for residents to go to. My one complaint was the amount of spiders in my apartment.

Maintenance is frustratingly slow but otherwise the experience has been fine enough. I put in a request to fix something over two weeks ago and it has yet to be fixed or even recieve any communication regarding it. Besides that though, rent is affordable and the location while far from campus is fairly quiet and the rooms are quite sizable.

Sometimes it good here but I don’t think management or maintenance get back in a timely manner. They are good to you the first year you’re here but after that they don’t care about you just your money. Management especially doesn’t care about you. You can try to talk to them about something but they won’t respond because they just don’t care!

As of my third week here, I would say it is a medium quality housing option for college aged people, pretty nice amenities, good communication from facilities staff, nice distance from campus, and easily accessible online portal for resources and payments.

I absolutely love it at The Social! I am from a small town about 3 hours away in Eastern Iowa and The Social felt like home almost instantly. The staff is very friendly and helpful with every step of the process and the facilities are amazing. Very pet friendly, my 2 dogs love the dog park and all of the grassy areas surrounding all of the buildings!

Apartment was filthy when we moved in but has good amenities and is quiet and peaceful. I like the gym and volleyball and basketball courts.
