Property Ratings at The Sterling
The freeze has moved into the area and me and my family are without heat. We have been writing multiple requests for 3 months straight. The property managers told me they were still trying to hire a maintenance guy to work on it. Since I've moved in I've had nothing but maintenance issues which should have been fixed long before I moved in. The apartments there are not ready to be moved into. They will make you feel as if you are the problem for calling them to fix these issues. These apartments are cheap yes, but it doesn't matter if they were $2 dollars a month. Your rent will be wasted. If you need any proof these testimonials are true, just go look at the actual pool behind the leasing office and compare it to the photos seen on this site.
This place is a rip off. They charging gas bill for total electric, electric bill is calculated but the whole building instead of individual units. So how many units are in a building they divide the light bill amongst the tenets and if no one lives in a unit that bill is spirit between the residents in that building. We never had roaches until we moved here and there is tons and tons of mold. They charge $250 deposit but the apartments are not appropriately cleaned before moving in. They just paint over dirty walls paint bathtub and add a few extra things to make it look appealing. The pool is nasty they don’t clean it trash overflowed flies everywhere because of trash, break ins and vandalism. They need to send the news out here to investigate and somebody to SHUT THESE APARTMENTS DOWN only reason we are still here because of the lease and we can’t afford to pay someone to move us and pay rent… but it is ??
Was without water for 2 months had 4 months left on lease moved out. There solution was to use vacant apartments restrooms to shower and use water will the townhouse was being worked on this went on for months had 2 kids several other tenents where using same apartment to shower and use water like a community apartment to use water so moved out 4 month before my lease ended and they put that I have to pay 5,000 dollars messing up my record now its impossible to get a apartment lousy situation
Roach infestation, flooding, black mold, our neighbors constantly fighting. Cops in and out of there arresting people shootings. And not to mention the hookers in the parking lot supplying full service to the elderly. If you have a family especially with little ones please think twice before choosing. By far the worst experience, not to mention when maintenance comes and makes repairs on the other apartment all the electricity and utilities that they have used for the entire job you will be billed for That's how it works. Your individual apartment does not get its own meter. Now I have a 2,000 ft² home and my electric bills have never been close to what they were charging us absolute rip off. And constantly changing management I wonder why?

Moved in a few months ago and i love it! My town house is huge and i love how the bills are allocated. The new managment in the office is great they are super friendly and understanding Things have been foing great for me so far!! ??

For the price, you could live in much better apartments. At time of posting, the dog waste station outside my apartment has been full to the brim for 3 weeks (I walked the rest of the complex and none of the other ones have been cleaned either.) and yet they send out nasty threats of fining dog owners for not cleaning up after their pets. I’ve had an outstanding maintenance issues for over a month. Just a horrible overall experience with the new management. Beware, they’re both “Karen’s”.

They want to evict you for no reason at all...they don’t even go through the eviction process....they just tell you to get out or they are calling the cops...they never came and fixed the door when someone tried to break into the apartment and they try to say that you did it... this place is not worth the money...they have bugs and poor maintenance and management!!!! DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!!!!

The management here is the absolute worst and they don’t care enough about there residents. Rats/roaches/dirty pools/loud neighbors who scream all day and night. This is what hell looks like spend your money elsewhere.
The first set of management was absolutely horrible. Had to wait over a month to get my heater/ac fixed in the middle of winter - my apartment got down to 54 degrees at one point. The second set of management was better, but when my apartment got mold due to a leaky ac unit (maintenance put one of my towels over the leak to “fix” it), they were not helpful in getting the problem fixed. I begged them to hire a professional to come look at the mold, but one was never called - I ended up taking my own samples to prove to them that there was mold. I ended up asking to be let out of my lease, which they agreed to after I found a clause in the lease matching my set of issues. Overall, I did enjoy living here most of the time, I think I just had bad luck. The location was great, but when problems occured, things were a little dicey.
My experience: The office staff seem to be super friendly, nice, and helpful at first. They even offered a job and stated that if i took the job it would cover the entire rent! I was skeptical at first but with the property manager assuring me it was "set in stone" and that she got the "okay" to hire me and that all I needed to do was sign the lease and move in I took the plunge and moved in. Long story short.. It was all lies. They gave me the run around when I would go in and ask about starting, they always said they would call me in two weeks or get back to me and NEVER did.. i see now that it was the best tactic ever to sucker someone into moving in. Pros:The apartment is beautiful and spacious, the location, I love my kitchen.. And my bedroom. It is tho.. over priced, its not a gated community, no security or community surveillance... My car was damaged in one of their parking areas and there's nothing to rely on to find out who did it or what exactly happened. The pet deposits are outrageous! THE POOL ARE ALMOST ALWAYS CLOSED!!! My upstairs neighbors are so RIDICULOUSLY noisy, heavy traffic outside... And you can hear EVERYTHING! It took them almost two weeks to clean the debri after Harvey, they left some people with broken trees in their patio areas, water pipes busted, broken limbs in the walk ways... for weeks! So they use this company called conService which lists all the charges you pay monthly. You get charged for pest control even if you dont use it, you get charged a fee for the services for making the list, even tho the list does not contain all the fees that the complex charges you.. so everytime you pay the amount listed on conService you still get hit with a balance notice, you get charged for gas even if your apt doesn't have a gas stove, and random fee charges here and there that are additional... Just doesn't make any sense. My complex has been shifting constantly causing doors to get stuck, cracks in the wall appear, the complexes main door doesn't even shut anymore.. And this was all before harvey; It's all very discomforting at times even tho it is spacious and is a beautiful home. Ohhhh. And Maintenance here is good!.. They come quick, they repair some things, and cover up the rest. Definitely my last apartment here and I'm looking forward to the end of my lease!

In terms of the pest control fee, our pest control is every Wednesday and is on a building schedule or residents must request it. Our Pools are closed every Monday for maintenance and all pools are open now that damages from the storm have been repaired. We ask that any service requests are brought to the attention of the office or that they are submitted online so that we are able to handle any maintenance concerns. We do apologize about the vehicle damage but if we can get an incident report, it would be great since your anonymous submission does not allow us to look into the matter. We've lived here for 2 years and love it! Anytime we've needed anything management always makes you first priority. They truly love their residents. The complex has recently been renovated and have a unique modern feel to them. They offer huge floor plans at a great price compared to other apartments around the area. We're in a prime location with the ocean a few blocks away!
