A suburb of San Diego, El Cajon is a scenic city nestled in a valley and surrounded by mountainous terrain, nicknamed “The Box” for its secluded feel. Located about 17 miles east of Downtown San Diego, El Cajon is an ideal choice for commuters. Residents have easy access to public bus routes, Interstate 8, and Highways 125 and 52. In addition to job opportunities in San Diego, there are so many shopping, dining, and entertainment options as well.
El Cajun resides near Mission Trails Regional Park and Harry Griffen Park, so outdoor adventure is always around the corner. Locals can shop the 170 stores at Parkway Plaza, watch the annual Air Show San Diego event at Gillespie Field, try their luck at the Sycuan Casino, or catch some air at Kennedy Skate Park. Residents appreciate the community events in Downtown El Cajon, such as the weekly Cajun Classic Cruise, the summertime Dinner and a Concert Series, the annual HauntFest, America on Main, and the Mother Goose Parade.

Property Ratings at The Timbers Apartments
Can’t describe the unsafe feeling I had since the first day, complex is dirty Pool looks not well maintained, there are big spider everywhere in summer I raised a maintenance ticket asking for pest control and the manager suggested me smash them out since they are not poisoned. Apartment is decent but not the best..

Please give us a call so we can discuss how to improve your time here and learn more about your experience.
I have lived here for about 6 months now and I love this place I have had no issues. Mary and Amy are great. Security guard is always on point and super polite. This is a place I hope to call home for a long time. I would definitely recommend living here.
Don't live here. There are so many problems with this complex that I could write book. Homeless people, rude and untrustworthy neighbors, frequent cops, thin floors/ceilings & walls, hidden charges that aren't explained or they "forogt" to charge you for, the pool has been locked for more then a year for "repairs" (but you still pay for it), washers and dryers don't work in the laundry room, they also evicted people during COVID while waiting on relief funds. This place is BAD
Changed my apartment on me from the one I applied for, and then told me the day before move in that it had roaches. Stay clear.
I'm a virgin at writing reviews, so I can only hope this is beneficial is some way. I highly enjoy reading them, and usually count on them to make my full purchasing decisions when ordering on Amazon. I occasionally ponder the idea of writing one but find an overwhelming sensation of being too lazy. I suppose with a very generous incentive I have become quite perky about writing this review. I currently live in El Cajon, CA in an apartment complex named Timbers Apartments. Like any review, I would like to share the pros AND cons of this place and allow my readers to make up their own minds. I will begin with the cons because everyone wants the bad news first, right? CONS: The location is congested with industrial builidings and a very cluttered town, which means traffic is very common at any given time. Also, to be fair California itself is far too over populated. Not just San Diego. I find it to be quite noisy since our apartment faces a very busy street. Fletcher Pkwy. It is very hot. I can partially blame this on being 9 1/2 months pregnant but the way that the buildings are placed, there is literally NO crosswind AT ALL. The apartment is very "cozy." It's perfectly fine for a couple and our newborn but far too pricey for such a small area which I believe is about 650 sq ft. We pay $1265.00 without utilities. Utilites are NOT included. We found that the "new" refurbishments on the apartment are relatively cheap. The countertops are very hard to get clean, and the bathtub is stained with dirt and residue even though I clean it it every week. It's a bit frustrating. We pay an additional $50 for a patio that we don't use because it's too noisy outside. We did inquire about this prior to getting this apartment but we were told that we most likely wouldn't be disrupted by the street noise. PROS: El Cajon is a suburb of San Diego. Which the location of San Diego City/ beaches are merely 20 minutes away....(without traffic) Walmart is walking distance, as well as a shopping mall and plently of eateries. Mission Trails are wonderful for hiking, biking and walking and it's only about 10 mins away. The apartments are located on Petree St, which if anyone knows Land Before Time...this name is pretty awesome. Amenities are great ( swimming pool is my best friend) The complex has great upkeep Parking is easy Air conditioning works wonders Friendly neighbors Very friendly AND helpful staff! Weather is always pretty consistent
I have had the worst experience when it came to other apparents im so glad i found this place. It really made me feel comfortable and the staff is amazing.
The Timbers is a safe & peaceful place. It is very accessible to the trolley station, groceries, mall, bowling alley, park & eating places, whether by car or by walking, a good exercise. The neighbors are awesome which is important. In the 7 yrs. we've been here, we are proud to say we're contented tenants.
It is very nice living at the Timbers in El Cajon. The complex is big and very green with lots of landscaping. Amenities here include: 6 large 8 ft. swimming pools, 3 spa/hot tubs, 6 laundry rooms also a picnic bbq area and a basketball court. The apartments are very large and fully equipped. They have central heat and 2 A/C units for comfort. The kitchen has all major appliances gas range, refrigerator , dishwasher and built-in microwave oven. The staff are friendly and helpful to your needs, thereis a 24 hour emergency hotline # for your convenience. The timbers is also located very close to major public transit services. It is real fun living here.!!!
I have lived in this apartment for over 20 years. My 2 oldest children grew up in this apartment and have moved on, I know am raising my 6 and 9 year old alone, after losing my husband to cancer August 2014. The complex, staff, and community here at the Timbers have helped me in ways that are not repayable. This is my home, and I love it.
I've lived in many different apartment complexes in El Cajon, and The Timbers is by far the best. Beautiful landscaping, quiet living, and a sense of security. The management staff is friendly and helpful, and this is the only place I've ever lived where all the tenants show genuine respect and courtesy for each other. If you're looking for home-stop! It's here at The Timbers! :)
