Property Ratings at Townes of Converse
I am writing this review to bring attention to several issues that have affected my living conditions at The Townes of Converse. 1. Ceiling Leaks: On two occasions, I had experienced leaks from the ceiling of my master bedroom as well as master bath. These leaks pose a risk of potential safety hazards and lacked urgency from the landlord. The damage was never repaired. 2. Gas Leak: I detected a gas leak on the first floor. As per safety guidelines, I promptly evacuated the area and contacted the landlord for assistance, as they do their own maintenance. I was told there was no sign of a leak. A few months later I noticed It yet again, this time the landlord had the gas company inspect It. There was a leak on the first floor as well in the ceiling of the 2nd floor. With this being said, if you’re looking to rent here I urge you to arrange for a thorough inspection of the gas system to ensure its safety and prevent future incidents. 3. Heating Issues: Despite multiple requests for assistance, I continued to experience issues with the heating system in the property. On three separate occasions I had contacted the landlord to report heating failures. Unfortunately, the problem persisted, causing discomfort and inconvenience. This was especially difficult during the colder months. The gas bill tripled, the gas company stated the unit was at fault for causing the gas to overwork. The bill was outrageous. 4. Parking and Access: The limited parking space on the street had become a recurring issue, with frequent blockages and insufficient room for emergency vehicles to enter or exit if needed. This situation poses risks to safety and access for residents. When looking at the unit (Jan 2023) we were told there would be an additional parking lot once It warmed up outside, the designated spot is still dirt (Feb 2024). Furthermore, I must address the security deposit issue. After the check had been in the mail for 10 days with no estimated delivery date or tracking #, I requested to pick up a check in person. The landlord deducted a charge of $24.00 for this. Had the payment been received within the required 30 day period, there would have been no need to request funds be picked up. That was due to the landlord’s negligence and I should not be held accountable. I also find the amount deducted for the unit overall to be excessively high. I was charged $910 for spackle, paint and debris. I’m extremely disappointed.
We just finished a six month lease at Townes at Converse. The location was fantastic. We loved being so close to downtown and we enjoyed having Tate Meatworks and a gas station on the corner. We would frequently go for walks around the college and cemetery and never felt endangered or uncomfortable. The Townes at Converse staff were wonderful to work with and were highly responsive whenever we had any request or issue. The other residents were friendly and generally good neighbors. All in all, Townes at Converse was a fantastic place to live for six months and I would highly recommend it to anyone else looking for a place in Spartanburg.
Wow! I love this location and the quality of the brand new construction is outstanding. It’s just a short bike ride to downtown but yet in a very quiet neighborhood. The amenities are great...granite countertops, stainless appliances, fire place, patio, garage, new everything...very well done and a great value. I highly recommend.
