Property Ratings at The Townhomes at Highcrest
Upon move-in, the small bathroom toilet was disassembled. The floors had garbage, construction debris, dirt, and liquid all over the downstairs. The refrigerator was coated on the outside with dirt/dust and inside with a mystery liquid and dried food pieces. The freezer was coated in a think layer of frozen goo. The stove was covered in years worth of grease. The upstairs bathroom floor was coated in Comet cleaner. Bathroom products from the prior resident were all over the bathroom. A faucet laid by itself in the middle of the upstairs bedroom. It took me two days of cleaning to make a dent and 5 days on the leasing office has still not responded.
Looks absolutely nothing like the pictures. Our stove didn't work when we moved into what was supposed to of been a remolded unit. Its not safe at night the lighting is awful. The place must be 100 years old and its falling apart. It takes weeks to get anything fixed and thats if they dont "accidentally" erase your request. Getting out of here ASAP!
Over priced Townhomes, that go up every year you renew your lease. The management company is horrible and do not care about their tenants. There is no parking for tenants unless you pay $50 a month for a spot. They came in and inserted several parking spots that require a pass and most of them are vacant and taking up spaces. No visitor parking and your guests have to park on the street. Their car must be registered with Woodridge for overnight parking or else they receive a ticket. If you're locked out, you have to call a locksmith. And the list goes on and on. I won't even get started with issues in our apartment, especially with the lighting and cooling systems. I never do reviews, but I absolutely hate this place and cannot wait for my lease to be over. I wouldn't recommend these Townhomes to my worst enemy. The management company is all about a dollar bill and it clearly shows.
I've noticed Highcrest conviently mentioned it's Only Recurring monthly fee is Storage. That isn't the only recurring fee. Utilities(whether you use them or not)are billed monthly (water, gas, trash/sewage). Electricity is not included in their utilities. You must switch the Electric(ComEd)service over to your name. Parking is billed monthly. Utilities are not billed based on usage. It is a calculation(that Cant be adequately explained) based on number of occupants. Renters insurance is mandatory. If you plan to subscribe to a satellite service (I.e. Dish, Direct TV), it is mandatory that you carry a $250,000 Renters insurance policy. Kids of elementary school age are assigned to Woodrige's lowest performing schools.
I have lived here with my husband for a year and we have just resigned our lease for another year and were suprised with half off our next month's rent. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe (I often walk across the building ourside to do laundry late at night without worry). I really like that each apartment has it's own private entrance to directly outside so there is no opening a building door then apt door. The office is quick about responding to needed repairs and I like that they are down the complex and paying the rent is simple and can be done with a personal check. The layout is spacious and open and the bar seating is cute and convenient. The large sliding door also makes the apt feel big. All utilities except electricity are included and the central air and heat are nice. The only thing that stinks is parking if you get here later in the evening since it isn't assigned but everything else is great! I really love living here and we were both glad to find such a lovely place to call home. We will definitely be living here until we save up to buy a house.
I'm very impressed with all the upgrades made since moving in November 2014. The parking lot has been repaved, flowers, plants, and mulch was added. They also renovated the swimming pool. I don't agree with the extra charge for storage however. I feel the rent alone should eat that cost. But overall, I think it's a good unit. Very spacious and quiet. Love the location.
I love the security I feel from this place and the fact there is a little playground for kids and such a large pool to swim in and relax by. I love the amount of space I have in my place to grow and store as I need!
