Property Ratings at The Township
If I could give them zero stars, I would. Our car has been broken into since we moved in and we were basically told "it happens", maintenance is a joke and actually told us to "learn how to fix it ourselves so they didn't have to come out", trash dumpsters are constantly overflowing with waste to the point where it WREAKS within 15 feet of them, non-stop dogs barking, and terrible office staff (Deborah is so rude it makes you uncomfortable). Stay far away from this place. Can't wait to move in October.
They don’t repair anything. The fences are dilapidated and falling down. One of the pools hasn’t been operational for years, the nets on the tennis courts are sagging, the asphalt is cracking, the dumpsters are overflowing. Speaking of dumpsters, if you try to use one, you are accosted by randos claiming to be “managers” who are in unmarked vehicles, have nothing identifying them, but start off by accusing you of not living there and demanding your name and address. If you don’t provide the info, you are told the police will be contacting you. If you are a woman or have a woman living with you, it is not safe to live here. STAY AWAY!!!
I cannot give Township fewer stars, but if I could I would. I sent the following email after I moved out and got none of my deposit back. I'd strongly suggest if you live here now and you move out, don't clean a thing because it won't matter. If they are charging for spotless move outs - let them do some actual cleaning. You'll pay your full deposit to them regardless by the time they charge you for bogus clean up and then manage to tack on move out fees that ironically add up to the exact amount of whatever they didn't already take from your deposit. I took a video when I left of how I left the apartment and it looks better than the virtual tour on their website. Dog waste left everywhere by residents who don't pick up after their pets, two stolen packages from my doorway, a broke down fitness center that has one semi working treadmill and a dirty pool with broken lounge chairs.Maintenance needs go unaddressed - I did some repairs on my own after waiting months.
This apartment will never fix any maintenance issues. I have had work order for over 2months with nothing done. There is trash and furniture stacked outside the dumpsters. The management doesn't care about the tenants. Please don't move here. I wish someone had told me.
This place is a joke. Do not waste your time here. The location is great but the management is honestly terrible. The office staff does not know whats going on and management is never available to talk when most people are off work. I was charged a late fee for a balance that was added to my account the day after I paid rent. I logged in on the 1st (when rent is due) paid the amount due in full and found out 5 days later by a late fee that I still owed (rent adjustment added on the 2nd). When I asked about this, Marcie was rude and told me to read my contract. Be sure you read your contract everytime you pay rent and login everyday to make sure you are paying the correct amount; the online portal might be wrong, you will be charged a late fee and they will blame you. I have paid rent in full on time, everytime, for 3 years. I had water dripping from my ceiling for 4 days before they came out to even look at it. My apartment has smelled like sewage on and off for months and nothing is being done about it. The basements flood regularly, they just leave the water to dry on its own. Very poorly insulated units. During the summer people that live upstairs deal with hot apartments and crazy high electric bills. During the winter ice builds up on the INSIDE of my door. If you're looking for a place to live, avoid this place
We lived at Township Apartments for seven years. It was a great place for our family of five to live. As most have said in the reviews, the management is what makes Township Apartments difficult to love. When we first arrived at Oakbrook (the previous name before new ownership took over) it was staffed properly, the manager was incredible to work with, and they took care of the tenants. Today, that is not the case and it is likely due to cost cutting initiatives. Township needs to be managed better, period. They also need to take care of the water leak issues that are plaguing a number of the apartments, including the one we lived in. My wife and I woke up one night to water dripping from our window. They were able to seal the crack, but it was a patch for a bigger issue. We were told they were going to fix this known issue last Summer (2019), but that never happened. The staff at the office has been great to work with and the poor management is no reflection of them. They can only do what they are told. I hope that Landmark (owners of Township) can get new management in to help lift the reputation of Township and make the needed repairs to the complex. Otherwise, I fear they will continue to go downhill.
Two years ago, I would have recommended this place to anyone. The new management is awful. The staff is friendly, but nothing ever gets fixed properly or in a timely manner. The office has been closed for months and the phone is not answered half the time. My apartment has smelled like sewage on and off for months and nothing is being done about it. The units are very poorly insulated. Upstairs tenants deal with crazy high electric bills and hot apartments in the summer. In the winter, I get ice build up on the INSIDE of my back door. I like the property and the location but paying to live in a place that is not maintained defeats the purpose of apartment living. Don't let the fancy office fool you, the apartments are NOTHING like this. Do not waste your time here, keep looking.
I’ve tried to contact this apartment complex for several days now. I have left a message and they still don’t return my call. How can you rent your apartments if you don’t return the call to the people that would like to rent them.

Living here was the worst experience of my life and trust me I’ve lived in crappy college apartments in college towns and this place was by far the worst. Less than a month of living there we had severe water leakage coming from our master bedroom window and in our storage unit. Come to find out the previous owner had reported the same issue and nothing was ever done. It took over 3 months to get everything fixed and the only reason why they did anything was because the ledge above the window was collapsing in. We found out that both the window and the storage closet had black mold. Due to this they had to bring a air scrubber in to our apartment, we were told that they would have the machine out by EOD, which didn’t end up happening. Unfortunately it was a Friday and the contractor wouldn’t be back out until Monday, kind you my bedroom was tapped off, with a black zipper walk-in plastic (like you see in crime scenes). I only found out about this turning into a multi day thing when I arrived home from work, I never received a call from anyone at the office ahead of time. When I asked about where I was supposed to sleep, their response was the couch.... after a very long weekend I came home Monday from work and was surprised to see my bedroom still tapped off. No one had stopped by to check on or remove the equipment, which when I talked to them on Friday (when they told me to sleep on the couch) they said everything would be cleaned up Monday. From there it took several more weeks for them to come out and finish the job. Mind you, items from our storage unit are in our dinning room, items from our bedroom are in the living room. It was a disaster. I would never recommend living in these apartment EVER! I have friends who are currently living here and they are having similar issues with maintenance and management.
I'll be honest, I don't usually write reviews unless it's to complain. However, my experience leasing my apartment at The Township Apartment Homes is definitely worth commending. I've had a positive experience from touring the apartments to signing my lease to move in day. Everyone in the office was very warm and friendly, something you don't see much of anymore. My leasing agent was Marissa and she was very prompt with information and kept me up on everything she needed to get me approved and moved in. We were in the process of selling our house and closing on it and I dreaded the extra stress of moving but it was a breeze. I hope the staff takes it as a huge compliment that I am giving five stars and writing a review. Your office is working and I for one appreciated all of the effort to get us moved in.
I wanted to give my honest review of the townhome I moved into two months ago. I am beyond happy that I made the decision to move up north and be closer to my grandkids. I enjoy not having to worry about any sort of home upkeep and to have a maintenance man a phone call away is a real blessing. When I turned on my heat for this first time this season I didn't realize there would be a little bit of a hot smell from the furance not being on since winter. I called the office and within ten minutes one of the men (I think his name was Tim) came out to my home and explained everything to me which I greatly appreciated. We've had two big snows since I moved in and each time I see the maintenance out shoveling snow and putting down salt. That looks like back breaking work and something I'm glad I don't have to do any more. My neighbors are all friendly and I don't hear anyone next door to me. There's lots of trails and areas to take my dog Bella for walks and I see there's a dog park although I haven't been yet. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet and respectful living space.
I just moved in to Township Apartment Homes and I am loving it! I moved into a townhome and love all of the storage space. I have a patio for my dogs to catch some rays and lots of grass areas to run in. It's almost like living in a park with all the grass, trees, and open spaces. The staff was so friendly and helpful, emailing me and updating me every step of the way. The day I moved in the staff had left a house-warming gift and a coupon for a free pizza! I know it sounds cheesy but after moving all day, you really appreciate the little things and not having to cook that night was a major plus. I'm loving the location, it takes me 5 min to get to Target, the grocery store is next door, and Zona Rosa/shopping is about ten minutes away. My kids' school is literally next door and I love that I can watch them walk home in the afternoons. I hope everyone has as great of a stay as I do!!!

Thank you for the kind words, we are so glad you chose our community and we are luck to have you as a resident!
If you value your money and don't like being scammed, look elsewhere. Full review provided on The Township's website.
Lived here for nearly five years and I absolutely LOVE IT! Quiet, very safe, very clean community. New owners have invested much money into improving the property and it looks beautiful! The new management personnel is top notch - from Property Manager Sarah, Jeff, Simone and Maintenance Manager Tim, everyone has extended a warm, welcoming hand to the residents and are quick to resolve any issues. Sure, there have been some hiccups and bumps along the way during the transition but overall, I am extremely happy with the new owners, Township Apartment Homes, and I look forward everyday to coming home to this community!

Thank you for the feedback. We strive to provide excellent service here at Township Apartment Homes.
The management is worthless since Trinity Properties at Township bought out the complex. I lived their for 8 1/2 years and was pleased with everything until they came in. The staff they have is rude and lazy. They don't answer the phone or return calls. They close the office all the time for 'meetings'. Maintenance doesn't know how to fix anything or they say everything is on back order.i moved out about 50 days ago and still haven't seen my deposit returned to me. I just talked to someone at corporate for township and they still don't have my moveout paperwork. She said they have emailed the property every week asking for it and they haven't responded.

Best complex I've lived at yet! My wife and I have lived here over a year now and am continually impressed with the excellent service and support provided here. Pros: -Super fast maintenance- requests take less than 24 hours. I have seen them show up several times within 15 minutes of calling. My washer flooded the apartment last winter, over the weekend! The maintenance got me a new washer, and even called a contractor to setup 2 blowers to dry the carpet. -Quick snow removal-I have never had trouble getting out of my apartment due to snow. Sidewalks and parking lots are cleared almost immediately after it snows -Lots of storage space- My wife and I have a decent amount of clothes, shoes and random items. We have yet to run out of storage space. The walk-in closets are huge with 4 long shelves and a rack to hang, shelves in the laundry room, and outdoor storage. I didn't realize we would be so thankful for all of it until after we moved in. -Great neighbors- maybe we got lucky, the complex is very quiet. I work 8-5 and stay home most evenings. Most of my neighbors appear to be on the same schedule, which is great because I don't have to worry about young college students partying/playing loud music/coming home at late hours. I'd say most people in my unit are around 25-30 years, and a couple in their 50's -Secure environment-there is lighting in the complex and parking lots. I've never felt unsafe. -plenty of parking-usually there is always parking available. I can only think of one instance when I came home pretty late at night and had to park in the next lot over (I had to walk an additional 10 feet..not a big deal) -Awesome fitness room- I use it when I'm too lazy to drive all the way to the gym I've purchased a membership at. (i.e. on days it's snowing/early mornings). They have a variety of equipment, a rowing machine and a couple treadmills-overall it gets the job done. This is just a short list of the pros. This is perfect for the working adult who is looking for a place they can call home and I would 100% recommend this complex
The Oak Brook At New Mark Apartments are nice but needs updating and a lot of improvement of appliances. Very nice quiet, peaceful atmosphere near woods.
Vaulted ceilings, fire place, open floor plan and a walk in closet! All of this and a great location right off of 169 and 152. No more than 20 minutes from just about anything. Moderately priced. Great people, not just the staff but neighbors are all great too!
I have lived in the same complex for over two years now. The location is spot on for the Kansas City area. Only a 15 minute drive from downtown KC and it is walking distance to the nearest grocery store. The leasing office is extremely helpful when it comes to any issue you may be having. The pool available is not very big for the complex and is generally too crowded for my liking, but that is to be expected. The location is full of very active people which makes for a safer area to do any outdoor activities. The only negatives would be the surrounding streets are fairly busy and the airport is close enough that the overhead traffic can be heard several times a day.
Living at this complex for two years is testament to what this area provides as a home. The neighborhood is very active, giving a very safe and friendly feeling daily. The complex, also, shares an open field and frisbee golf course with an elementary and middle school, giving a great space for pets to run. The complex is 7 minutes to Zona Rosa shopping, 15 minutes to Downtown KC, and 15 minutes to the airport. The main office has always been very helpful with any issue that has occurred and quick to fix them. Some issues that cannot be fixed is the daily plane noises overhead and busy streets. Amenity perks are that every apartment comes with access to Google Fiber, washer/dryer units, and outdoor patios.
More than an apartment. The layout of my apartment creates a home feel rather than an apartment feel. Very open concept. I never hear my neighbors. Maintenance takes care of everything from light bulbs being changed to even the pans in the stove top. I've lived here for nearly two years and could not ask for a better apartment.
I have lived here for two years and plan on staying for quite a few more. The office is always friendly and helpful. Maintenance takes care of everything. Great location and great pools! And they are pet friendly! This place has everything!
I started my contract in Dec 2013 and have been a very happy resident of Oakbrook at New Mark ever since. Their rates are fantastic, the maintenance is on spot and the staff is very friendly and courteous. The best part though is that its a pet-friendly complex. They have 2 beautiful pools and a well equipped gym too.
Since moving to KC in 2011, I've lived in apartments throughout Lenexa and Mission, Kansas to Downtown KCMO and now the Northland! I absolutely love this apartment complex and neighborhood. It's so quiet and peaceful, just enough landscaping and trees to make my morning coffee on our balcony a beautiful escape from city life. I almost feel like I'm back in the country-side of Maine where I grew up! I've never had any issues with noisy neighbors and I've had a great experience living here for the past 1 1/2. By the way, I've never renewed my lease ANY where before so this is a first and you know I must really like it! It's the largest, nicest, most affordable apartment I've yet to live in. Thanks for making me feel right at home!
