Famous for its ties to American history, Alexandria today remains a popular city — not just for tourists but also for those who work for the government. Located southwest of Washington, D.C., the west end Alexandria neighborhood of Landmark/Van Dorn has become a culturally diverse place for commuters to live.
Landmark/Van Dorn sits 5 miles due west of the downtown Alexandria waterfront, making a walk along the Potomac River only 15 minutes away. With the neighborhood outside of Old Towne, the close Metro line makes going downtown simple, yet residents can enjoy their local parks and restaurants without the influx of tourists.
Known for its luxury car dealerships, high-end rentals in Cameron Station, parks and diverse grocery stores, Van Dorn benefits from being a part of a community that, with over 900 acres of protected open space and a commitment to be biker and pedestrian friendly, makes Alexandria well worth the investment to live in.

Property Ratings at The Tuscany
I just signed my 4th one-year lease at the Tuscany as it is a great place to live. The location is great, the property manager and maintenance staff are fantastic, and treat you as if they lived on the property themselves. They have a very proactive (vs reactive) approach towards maintenance and are always doing little things to further enhance the roadside appeal of the property. It's a small community of approximately 105 units which results in a nice, quiet, quaint living culture. In addition to a secure, underground parking lot, and what sealed the deal for me, is that separate, individual one-car garages are also available as well as ample parking for visitors. The amenities include a nice fitness center, a dog park, and a very well-maintained brick courtyard with two large gas grills and seating areas for residents to enjoy. If you are in the market for a new apartment, please take the time to check out The Tuscany - you will not be disappointed!

We are excited to hear that you find The Tuscany Apartments a great place to call home! Thank you for sharing your experience.
We have lived here for just over a year now and we love it so much. The location is so quiet and peaceful. The apartment complex itself is gorgeous with crown molding within the hallways and the unit. We both have cars and we love the convenience of having reserved spots. The office staff are so nice and friendly, reply promptly, and have always been accommodating whenever we need guest passes. The maintenance staff are very quick and attentive whenever we need him. We love living here and will continue to renew our lease until we are ready to buy a house.

I lived in the Tuscany Apartments from July 2018 until July 2022. I loved everything about it. I never had any issues. First place I lived where I had no complaints. I recently moved back to my home state and that’s the only reason I left. Carrie, the leasing manager, is awesome!

I have lived at the Tuscany for 5 months. The property is very pet friendly and the residence are polite and friendly. John (maintenance) and Caroline (Office Manager) will always make time to talk to you and listen to your concerns. There have been a few concerns / problems that came up but have always been address fixed or resolved in a timely manner. There was even a resident that would have loud domestic fights in the middle of the night along with drug use. The resident was notified and the problem stopped. Over all I am very pleased with the Tuscany.

I appreciate many things about living at the Tuscany. My recent favorite thing? Food Truck Friday!! It is such a creative and fun way to encourage residents to support local small business (so important right now) and to allow residents to have a convenient night off from cooking. I work from home, but I make sure to participate in my tele-health option so I can have a yummy surprise for dinner and support our economy in an important way. Win-win. Doesn't get any better than that :) Jane M

I am a new resident here at Tuscany, however the management (Carolyn) and staff (Rose) are truly professionals and have gone above and beyond to welcome me. They have been very warm and welcoming, personable, knowledgeable, friendly and always ready to help with any assistance needed. Maintenance (John) is the best and very quick to respond to maintenance requests/ work orders, and is customer service focused. In addition, the grounds are very well maintained. The apartments are very nice and spacious, comfortable and well designed with cozy floor plans. Overall, the apartments are a beautiful place to live in, and very close to major highways, shopping stores and restaurants. I would highly recommend this complex as a place to call home, and on a scale of 1-5, with a 5 being excellent, I would give it 5 stars without hesitation! :) Funchea Grant

Im new to The Tuscany Apartments. So far, Im enjoying my decision to move here. I was moving from a 5-bedroom house to a 2-bedroom apartment; Tuscany had Enough quality spacing to aid in my transition. And the private garage was a huge help for storage. I absolutely love the PM team; especially Crystal. She was very helpful and informative throughout the entire process. Although the amenities are minimal, what they do have offers a functional, quality of life purpose to your everyday life. My ONLY cons at this point, is that theres no community room for hosting functions and the online floor plan says there are double sinks in The Michelangelo, but there arent. Also, the cost of the private garage could be a little less expensive, but Im willing to give up coffee and shopping for the convenience. The pros overwhelmingly outweigh the cons. I feel at home here.

I love the quality of my apartment and The Tuscany Community in general. Having an insider washer and dryer alone gives me a peace of mind, not having to travel back and forth to a laundry facility. The interior corridor of the buildings are extremely clean, as if you were in a hotel. The complimentary shuttle to the Van Dorn Station and Ronald Reagan Airport is super convenient. It's a combination of comfort, convenience, and peace of mind. It's really everything I could ask for.

I looked for a long time for a place like Tuscany Apartments. Even though they do not have a pool but they have other things they offer that make up for it. The staff to include maintenance are outstanding. A great place to stay.
And not for the better. I've been a resident since Dec. 2011, and everything was great. But, as we all know with new management, there are changes. But, these changes are the worst. This new mgtment. team is non-communicative; there are a quite a few general maintenance problems that go for days without attention, e.g. elevator out of service for 3wks., and to this day, 11/21, service is hit or miss; large trash bins left out after pick-up; the driveway (at the entry of the garage) is just filthy with garbage slime (it needs washing); our very nice doggie park; needs maintenance, leaves and sticks picked up. It goes days without getting attention. My car was vandalized twice, but a resident had all 4 the tires stolen from their vehicle while parked in our garage, so there are some safety issues (like getting cameras for the garage) that need addressing. Unfortunately, I get the sense it's all about the money. And, I would agree, but if you don't take care of your residents, what usually happens, is turn over, and from experience, I know that's not good for anybody's bottom line. My hope is that this mgtment. team would start taking care of it's residents, with the respective and compassion that they (the residents) are paying for, by way of taking the utmost care of the place (our Tuscany environment/community) in which we are living.

Coming from a HORRIBLE apartment experience finding the Tuscany Apartment Complex was a breath of fresh air and a hidden rare gem. The experience was so comforting and a relief from the tour we took to signing our lease. The leasing team is small but very personable and caring. Before we moved in they changed the leasing team. You'd think that it was cause a ton of confusion and ciaos but it didn't there was a smooth transition. Also, after moving in the great care and service continued. We love the maintenance team and the office team. We can request a maintenance issue be fixed and it is taken care of immediately (either the same day or within 24hrs). Also, if they fix something they follow up with you to ensure that you are satisfied with their work. My fiancé and I love this complex so much that we renewed our lease for another 15-months and referred our two friends who have moved in and truly enjoy their new apartment. The community is quiet, clean, up to date and well maintained and our neighbors are friendly. The only cons about our complex is that I wish we had a hose or a car wash area and that with the team consisting of two people it can be hard sometimes during their busy times to get in contact with them. However, overall The Tuscany is a wonderful place to live.
In anticipation of moving closer to DC from the far reaches of the suburbs, I started my search early for an apartment that would meet all my needs at a price I could afford. Months into my search without finding anything, I finally stumbled upon The Tuscany just 10 miles from DC and conveniently located near everything! What a find, and I could not be happier here in my 2BR/2BA unit. The Tuscany is only 7 years old and has many features you would find in a more expensive luxury complex. The spacious kitchen is modern with stainless steel appliances, ceramic tiled flooring, granite countertops and upgraded cabinets and fixtures. The units have 9 ft. ceilings with crown molding, and I was even allowed to have an accent wall painted with a color of my choice at no cost. They even painted additional walls for me for a modest cost, and I do not have to repaint them when/if I ever move out! Both bedroom closets are large, including one walk-in, and the bathrooms are roomy with ceramic flooring and tiles. Each apartment also has its own washer and dryer, and even though they are stacked, they appear to be full-sized. Both buildings have controlled access with underground, assigned parking at no additional cost. There is a business center, a fitness center, a fenced-in dog park, outdoor patio and grills, free Starbucks coffee and a free shuttle to/from the Van Dorn Metro. Dash and Metro bus stops are right in front of the buildings. The hallways make you feel like you are in a luxury hotel and are clean and immaculately maintained. The staff is welcoming and helpful, the place is quiet (my unit is on the top floor) and residents are friendly. I received a great deal on my unit, and the apartment was in perfect condition with brand new paint and carpeting when I moved in. Moving in was a breeze with blocked off elevator access for the duration of my move. If having a pool, a movie theater, huge lobby, game room, etc. is worth paying several hundred dollars more per month in rent, then you may want to look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a clean, reasonably priced, conveniently located, apartment with just the right amount of special touches and amenities, then The Tuscany should fit the bill.
