Property Ratings at The Tuscany Apartments
If I could rate my experience 0 at Tuscany Apartments I would! After Alexander left the building a few months ago, it has been on a steady decline. Homeless people commonly breaking into the building, exterior doors being propped open for hours on end, trash piling up inside the building, open drug use in interior hallways, a very unsafe alley and a new property manager that is so beyond unprepared it’s shocking. Good luck trying to get ahold of her, she won’t respond to you. Northwest Apartments, you have let the residents of Tuscany Apartments down!!
There are several reasons I would not recommend this apartment to friends, or you, a stranger on the internet. - The turnover rate here is insane. Most tenants are staying a year, or less, and you'll notice that U-haul trucks are a constant on the curb. - The rent increase after a year is $200. Our neighbor that left last month said they were going to raise their monthly by $300, so obviously they were moving. It's not like they're doing anything around here to justify $200 more a month.. So keep that in mind. If you're looking to live at a cheaper spot in first/capitol hill that's great, but imagine having to move again after a year, or spend $$$$ to stay. - I haven't had anything delivered to this apartment after having a couple things stolen. That's a combination of bad deliveries (leaving packages outside the front door on the street) and theft from the table inside. You might think you can get by without deliveries, but something will eventually come up and you will have to figure out a way around it. - Management is non-existent. Office hours? Nah. Hopefully you'll be able to schedule a meeting if you need something handled. Unfortunately, they don't respond to emails either, so good luck lol. - The parking garage door is constantly left open, so no reason in believing your car is safe off the street. We had our car broken into in the garage, and someone took the garage door opener and Tuscany did not get the openers replaced/recoded, so now anyone can get back in and I'm sure we haven't been the only ones. - The floor in our apartment slopes about a half inch from the wall to the center of the room, in every room. Hopefully that's acceptable, but it's worrying. - There are 2 elevators, but typically there is one that is broken. Makes you wonder how safe it is to use them. - A window in a stairwell was broken, glass on the ground, and it took 2 weeks in winter to have it addressed. Nothing was done to cover the hole in that time. - The wall heaters are weak and windows are thin, so you'll probably want to have your own heater running as well during the cold. - The water heater is so small that 2 people can't take fast showers back to back without running cold toward the end. - Make sure your door is always locked because the outside doors don't shut properly all around the building, so it's pretty easy to gain access for non-residents. - There is great walkability to Capitol Hill amenities.
High rent, extremely poor customer service. No security, tons of theft and a decrepit building with minimal maintenance. Lived here for a year and they are withholding our deposit saying we are on “month to month” when we moved out already.
The Tuscany Apartments Review I have lived at the Tuscany apartments for 4 years, it’s been mostly ok living here. The building is relatively quiet, at least on my side of the building which is in the back overlooking the parking lot. But will no longer be quiet because the lot in the back will be undergoing construction, a new 7 story apartment complex will be going up, which is one of the reasons why I’ll be moving out. This negative review is based upon the lack of responsibility the management/ownership has taken in the massive amount of theft and security in this building. Everyone's packages are stolen or cut into on a regular basis. The mail boxes themselves have been broken into. All of the storage units have been raided multiple times. Everyone's bikes which are locked up in the laundry room have been stolen, including mine. I’ve contacted the management several times on the matter and they do nothing about it, they didn’t even respond to my email about my bike being stolen. The security in this building in nonexistent. It’s extremely easy to brake in or walk in since the door to the front entry is often left open. The side doors in the alley leading up the staircases don’t shut properly. The security number codes to the building have never changed either, meaning people who don’t live have easy access to the building at all times. I’ve known neighbors who’ve had hundreds of dollars worth of things stolen from them, I strongly suggest looking somewhere else to live if you don’t want your personal things jacked.
First things first. Your across the street from a methodone on clinic. These are people that voluntarily are going their to get clean. Never had a problem with them. Second, ask to see if any of their newly renovated apartments are available. Granite countertops new appliances and in room new washer and new dryer. Seriously hard to beat for the price. Building is old but kept up by the maintenance guy. If your nice he is more then helpful. You get a great deal for living walking distance from down town. I probably would of did a 3.5 star but I felt 4 was more appropriate than 3.
