Located about 100 miles north of Seattle, Happy Valley is one of Bellingham’s most wooded neighborhoods. Similar to other Washington communities, Happy Valley has underdeveloped pockets of land and access to parks, wetlands, forests, and meadows. Along with natural beauty, Happy Valley is best known for bordering Western Washington University and students or faculty can walk to campus in under 15 minutes. Although the neighborhood is a popular location for student housing, Happy Valley also has a variety of affordable to upscale houses and apartments available for rent. With access to two commercial hubs and great schools, Happy Valley is also a popular spot for families. Downtown Bellingham is only a 10-minute drive away so residents have easy access to museums, theaters, live music venues, diverse restaurants, brewpubs, cafes, and more.

Property Ratings at The U
This was the worst apartment I ever lived at. Everything was very old and dated and practically falling apart. Management was very poor and maintenace requests always took weeks.

The entire time I lived here I couldn’t get management to call or email me back for any reason. I couldn’t get my mail key for several months after moving in and when I was trying to move out there were many issues. One person told me I could stay until the 30th, another person told me I had to be out the 15th, and I never got ahold of anyone to return the key and have them do a walk through. I called 4 times, sent several emails, submitted forms on the website, texted management, and went to their offices which were always closed. I wouldn’t recommend living here to anyone. The convenience of living close to western is not worth the inconvenience of living here. Besides that, the walls are thin & it’s overpriced for the area.
