Property Ratings at The Union Student Living
Terrible terrible, management is filled with incompetents and they still have yet to give us mail keys its been 4-5 months.
My son is currently a resident at The Union. The apartments themselves are okay, but property management is almost non-existent. Even though he and his roommate are paying for a fully furnished apartment, that includes a washer and dryer, property management will not respond to maintenance requests. The dryer has not worked in in three months, and property management will not respond. They have put in maintenance requests and called/visited the office repeatedly with no success. They have also tried to contact their property manager at Covenant Property Services via email, and she will not even respond. PATHETIC! In addition, the grounds are filthy with dog poop everywhere. The pool has been closed for months (not to mention the greenish, dirty water), and the outdoor landings are filthy. What a shame that poor management has ruined this complex. Definitely would not recommend to anyone!
I would give zero stars if possible. My time with this apartment was the worst of my 5 years of college/grad school. I was charged $50+ in overages for utilities every month even though I was barley there and the air Condition frequently went out. The electricity goes out when you use the oven or stove. The pool is filled with little kids and families that clearly do not live there. Management was rude and only cares about money. Not a good place to live at all.
It's such a shame because the apartments themselves are a pretty great value for the price. However, there has been a shift in management and the new management is terrible! I had two guests over on a Saturday night at 10pm and a manager came to the apartment barging in, asking why we were making noise and how the neighbors had complained. I, unlike most tenants, actually read my entire lease through and I know that 10pm on a Saturday does not coincide with quiet hours for the apartment complex. But it doesn't even stop there. Management will come into your apartment and into your room to drop off notices (even when you're not there). I found this out when I came home and a notice was laying on my desk! The previous management would have left the notice on your door or at least knocked and tried to give it to you directly. I find this new management to be abhorrent, disrespectful and rude. I'm definitely NOT renewing my lease here.
The location is great, you're less than 5 minutes away from UNCC amongst other things (Cookout, McDonald's, convenience stores, etc.). The complex is student housing that offers 1, 2, and 3 bedrooms that is all-inclusive, each individual have their own private bathrooms, individual locks for their bedroom doors, shared kitchen and common area, and they offer individual leases. The one problem that this apartment complex have is management - the people there are unprofessional and not understanding at all! They are unwilling to help you and are primarily focused on money. Meanwhile, maintenance falls begins with work orders and the apartment complex tries to charge you with everything in the book once you move out, as well as, unexplained overages while living there. I would not recommend anyone to live here because of the poor management. It's not worth it.
Largely catered to students in the University City Area & vicinity of Charlotte, The Flats at Campus Pointe offer an incredible solution to off-campus student housing. With tons of amenities and a pleasant and helpful management team, residents can find a smaller, quaint community without giving up luxury living. It's convenient location to UNCC, IKEA, restaurants/dining, entertainment, malls, shops, grocers, and department stores like Target, Walmart, and Kohl's; make it easy for residents to find all their essential necessities close-by. The common areas, clubhouse, grounds, and parking lot are well maintained and the staff is very friendly. It comes complete with extras like a computer lab, swimming pool, 24-hr gym, game room with Foosball and pool table, and they hold special events & activities for residents to gather together and enjoy a bit of time away from the books and term papers. The best part is the value -- it is highly affordable and it is all-inclusive (unless there is an overage), so you only make one payment for electric, cable, wireless internet, water, and trash. I have lived here for 2 and 1/2 years and am sad that I must leave this community but truly adored residing here. I would greatly encourage other young adults and students to make The Flats their first choice!! - Andrea J. Charlotte, NC
