Property Ratings at The Ventana at Colorado Station
New owners Birge and Held have driven this place to the ground. On-site management is surly and uncommunicative. Not a place to live if you care about yourself - 3 homicides in three months, poor plumbing and HVAC.

You're not going to get air conditioning or heat because staff doesn't know how to maintain it. Need to do laundry well it better be between the hours of 10 to 6. Want to use the pool. Nope closed on weekends. Want to work out? Not if you work normal hours. This private equity firm that bought this place has to be worst management company ever.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We apologize for the negative experience and would love the opportunity to discuss your concerns in greater detail. I did want to let you know that the pool and gym are open until 9pm and we have 3 other laundry areas on the property that are open 24/7, the only one that closes at 9pm is the main laundry in the Clubhouse and that is locked up with the pool and gym nightly at 9pm. If you need information about this please contact us at the office 303-758-1316 and we will gladly assist you.
I recently renewed my lease with Nichole one of the managers. She went above and beyond to assist me. It doesn't matter what I call or email her for she always has the best attitude and resolves any issues I have had. Previous management was not so good but they have made great changes to my apartment and the property. Thanks again Nichole for everything.
This is a really great area to live in and the staff here is amazing!! Nicole has been such a great help from the very start!!! They are very quick to respond & my studio is such a perfect size and space for me. love living here!
You don't want to live here. No heat for months. The hot tub hasn't worked in years. The pool is ice cold. Nobody cleans the poop from the dog park. Very low water pressure.
When I moved in it was pretty great and the old maintenance crew was nice too. Unfortunately they were bought out recently and this new management company is terrible!!! I have a novel to write, but basically I’ve had ongoing issues with my hot water, the laundry machines are always breaking no matter which building you go to and you can only input money on a card to use them. This card can only be refilled with a machine that’s only located IN THE LOBBY - so when you want to do your laundry on a Sunday and the lobby is closed, sorry you’re out of luck if you don’t have enough money on your card already. Also the communication between the management office and the residents is kind of sad, they tell you some things, but will not tell you about work being done on your building - right next to your window, and if you pay for a parking space it’s pointless, cause they don’t tow them out of the parking space and they can’t even confirm you pay for unless they look you up. I can’t tell you how many times they’ve messed up my rent either because it’s been too often. Just do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time.
Despite NUMEROUS service requests, for about 9 months, our heat either is constantly on or off as controlled by a light switch (i.e. not automated). The hot water only works in the showers, and as of this morning doesn't work at all. The front office rarely has anyone there. I have called 20 times over the last 2 weeks trying to reach someone, but the number has never once been answered. The hot tub has spent a large amount of time broken. I have left dozens of unanswered voicemails with my information. The laundry system is outlandishly expensive, and not conveniently close to our town home. And even through all of these issues (with no compensation to my rent whatsoever), they are attempting to raise rent significantly every year. Now since I can't reach the office with my intent to vacate, I'm worried I will be charged extra for not giving enough notice, despite the numerous mentioned voice mails. With my work schedule it is VERY rare that I can physically come into the office, but I have actually taken time off of work in order to get to the office before they close. These are things that should not have to be tolerated for the rates they charge. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
I really love my new townhome at the ventana apartments. Cynthia went out of her way to help me with anything i needed. The experience has been great and i love my new home! I highly recommend these apartments. It has everything i need and you truly have the ability to make it your own.
They had one of the best customer services I had while looking for apartments. Denise was the one who helped me and my boyfriend and was awesome.! She was so out going and answered all of my million questions.! Not looking to rent until July but will definitely rent there just because of Denise.!
Property Manager at The Ventana at Colorado Station, Responded To This Review
Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We will let Denise know of your kind words. We hope you have a great day and look forward to seeing you in July!
Top rated? Are you joking?! There was improvement from 2016 up until this summer and now it's a disaster. Does anybody care here? Nobody ever picks up the phone so I leave work early, go to the office and it's CLOSED BEFORE 5 when they say they're open until 6. This has happened THREE TIMES! If I ask the maintenance guys when they'll fix my dishwasher they're confused. They say they're caught up even though I told the office three times already about my broken dishwasher! JUST LAZY!! I know TEN people who had their CARS BROKEN IN TO and THREE STOLEN in the last year alone. But Ventana is dealing with "important" things like going to award ceremonies for things they didn't earn and 100% do not deserve. Do your job.
I loved this place up until three months ago when Greystar got rid of Alex. She genuinely cared about the whole place even though it was falling apart. The washers are garbage and residents are supposed to call about repairs (seriously? So lazy!), elevator is sketchy, floors are all at an angle, TONS of car break-ins, DEAD BODY found in parking lot last year and HEAT is GARBAGE. I have not had heat because of some construction that also blocks the best parking. I was given a pathetic space heater which heats about five feet in my place. When my heat did work (last year), I couldn't use my AC which sucks on cold mornings and scorching afternoons. What a CON! An outdated system that the leasing agent conveniently skipped. On top of that, the new manager, Emilio, is rude and still won't get anything done after writing it down. I wish I was joking, but I watched him write the same thing down three times without any results. If it's a late fee though, they're on top of that. GREEDY. My neighbor never got their renewal offers (but has FEES!) and another still doesn't have their lease. The incompetence must be why he doesn't smile. Ever. He honestly thinks he's smart and constantly talks over everybody to try and prove it. Get over yourself. I'm glad I lived here during the best times because it sucks knowing how bad it is now. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. You can find cheaper with decent people and actual heat.

Hi Anonymous, we truly appreciate your honest feedback. Your feedback will be used as a learning experience to better our customer service for everyone. We understand that staffing changes can be hard on everyone. However, rest assured that everyone on our team remains committed to the well being of The Ventana. It seems you have established good rapport with your neighbors, so please feel free to tell them to contact us regarding their renewals. Thank you again for your review.
I have been understanding of a lot: MURDER occurred and the then assistant manager told me "you should move if you don't feel safe," when I talked about moving out, office has been broken into three times since I have lived here, maybe more, and my money orders were stolen, and you can only have heat or ac so now that we finally have heat after it SNOWED, now it's hot and the now manager, Emilio, could not care less. He's cold and rude saying "i regret to hear that," about everything. Ya whatever. He treats every convo like a huge inconvenience so it's no surprise half of the staff quit when they got rid of Alex. At least she cared and did everything she could even if heartless greystar said no. Laundry machines are disgusting and always broken no matter how many times you report it, SO MANY CARS BROKEN INTO, laundry stolen from at least 5 of my neighbors, they threaten you about your patio and I don't think even the "groundskeeper" knows what she does. I am looking forward to moving out. I hope they level this place. The two redeeming things are maintenance guys and by interstate.

Hi Anonymous, thank you for providing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you feel the property is changing for the worse. We understand that management and staffing changes can be hard on everyone. We can assure you our team is still very dedicated to the well-being of the residents and property and believe that you will see that through our actions in the future. Thank you for acknowledging our hardworking maintenance team and our great location. We sincerely thank you for your feedback on how we could improve our community.
I hate the staff changes. I came in with a simple question and felt like I was asking for the world. Is it really that difficult to do your job and pretend like you actually care? Prior management sure did and got a heck of a lot more done too. In fact, I'm sure they were paid less. It's too bad Greystar does not appreciate the good ones. I will not be renewing. If you're looking for a place, look elsewhere for people that actually have the time of day for you. You deserve better.
Property Manager at The Ventana at Colorado Station, Responded To This Review
We understand that management and staffing changes can be hard on everyone. So it is upsetting to hear that you did not receive the top-notch service we strive to provide. Thank you for leaving feedback. Please reach out to us at (303) 758-1316 so we may identify ways to improve your experience.
The staff is just god awful! Felt so disorganized and like they didn’t know at all what they were doing. We made an appointment to visit a three bedroom apartment and when we got there they had forgotten about our appointment, said they didn’t have a three bedroom available even though over the phone they said they had one, and the whole staff was at lunch when we got there, even though we had an appointment scheduled (and we were right on time not early or late). The man who eventually helped us, after we waited for about 15 minutes, was dismissive, rude, disrespectful. It felt like he could not be bothered with our presence or questions. Barely wanted to show us an apartment to start with and then found excuses as to why he couldn’t (stated he could not because of “legal issues” with our move in date being too far out, however we looked at 5 other apartments on the same day with the same move in date and they had no “legal issues”). Felt like he just didn’t want to deal with us. He didn’t take us seriously at all and the whole interaction was painful. We never even got to see the apartment at all. SO unprofessional. I would rate the 0 stars if I could, unfortunately I have to give it at least 1 to submit this. I would avoid the Ventana and it’s horrible horrible staff at all costs.
Property Manager at The Ventana at Colorado Station, Responded To This Review
Thank you for providing feedback regarding your visit. We do regret to hear that your visit was less than a 5 star experience. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication regarding your appointment which we sincerely regret. Even if only one team member is available at the time, they do make an effort to acknowledge individuals entering our office right away. Should you still be in the market for your first apartment home next July, we hope you will reconsider and allow us to provide you with a wonderful experience. Don?t forget your government issued IDs. Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we can improve. Take care.
I have been without a properly working fridge for 2 months now. The office rarely answers the phone. Have jumped through hoops for two months before anyone could tell me anything about my fridge while I wasted money by having to throw food away. This is also the second fridge problem I have had. Also the hood vent fell out of my roof. The management does not care about their residents and refuses to do anything to make up for their mistakes. I pay more for a tiny studio here in Denver than I did for a 1BD/1BA in CALIFORNIA. And this apartment is definitely not worth that money. Pool is constantly closed, things constantly broken. And an office that never answers the phone, or just promises to call you back by the end of the day but will never call back. One of the worst places I have had the misfortune of experiencing.
I lived at The Ventana for 3 years, and I can honestly say that I enjoyed living there. The tenants are very friendly, the staff has always bent over backwards to help me, and the management is amazing. I watched Alex go from a leasing agent to the apartment manager, and I think she has done an amazing job. She really cares about the tenants, as well as protecting the company. The Assistant Emilio has always been a pleasure to deal with, and the Maintenance staff is amazing there. I didn't use the pool or hot tub much, but when I did, it was nice having it there. The apartments suited my needs and the upgrades were also nice. But the main reason I stayed there for as long as I did was the people who run it.

Valued Past Resident: We greatly appreciate your feedback. I, especially, value your time and kind words! Thank you! I am incredibly proud of my team and the impact they had on your living situation. We wish you nothing but the absolute best in all of your future endeavors. Sincerely, Alex Heckenkamp, Community Manager
Let me start with the good. The staff was great and friendly seemed to really care about the residents. Now the Bad, which is very bad. This place is infested with bed bugs. I looked into an apartment and there were bugs everywhere, including roaches. I had a chat with a current resident who was displaced while they "bug bombed" his apartment in an attempt to get rid of the bugs. Just an awful environment to be in. It was rather disgusting.
Property Manager at The Ventana at Colorado Station, Responded To This Review
Valued Resident: First, I appreciate you recognizing our staff for our friendly demeanor and genuine concern for all of our residents. It is our goal to provide and be at our very best. On the other hand, I am deeply concerned as we take considerable precautions: treatments are conducted by a professional company and in accordance with their professional expertise and recommendations; all vacant apartments are treated and cleared [by our third party vendor] prior to any new move-ins; common areas are treated regularly; apartments are inspected semi-annually; and preventative treatment is scheduled with renewal lease contracts. In order to assure your concern is resolved efficiently and effectively, I look forward to hearing from you promptly. Feel free to email me directly via theventanamgr@greystar.com, or contact my Assistant Manager, Emilio, or I via 303.758.1316. Please be sure to provide your name and address. Finally, with your concern, we are looking into a different, more effective and reliable pest control vendor. In the meantime, you may contact our current company, American Pest Control, via 303.627.5800 with any questions or concerns related to their expertise. Sincerely, Alex Heckenkamp, Community Manager
I moved into the Ventana Apartments at the beginning of August. I was moving at the last minute, and had a bit of a complicated situation. Cameron Ploch is the leasing agent who handled the leasing of my apartment and my move...and she was ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC!!! She always followed through on what she said that she was going to do, and always called me when she said that she would. She even called me after-hours to follow through with me, which I really greatly appreciated! Cameron helped to make a very stressful and difficult situation for me MUCH EASIER!! I have a one-bedroom apartment. It also has a nice fireplace. My building is quiet. My neighbors don’t play loud music, which is wonderful. I absolutely love being so central to everything. The location is great! There are so many businesses in this area that you have all of the conveniences that you want right near you. And I take the RTD, and the Colorado Station is right there. And the RTD buses run very frequently on the weekends, too. Many of the RTD buses didn’t run at all on the weekends where I lived in Lakewood. I have no bug problems, which is great! No bed bugs or roaches. Nothing like that. Personally, I’m not a big animal lover; however, I’m happy that most people here do have their dogs on leashes. So, that’s good! Maintenance here is significantly better than at my previous apartment. They get things done. I needed a part for the inside of my refrigerator. And they got the part number from my refrigerator, and ordered it right away. The whole process took only about four business days. I was impressed! You are allowed to get satellite here. But, I face the wrong way. So, I’m thinking about switching apartments so that I can get DirecTV. I like that they allow you to get satellite. I’m happy here! It’s a most definite improvement over where I used to live, for sure! I hope that you find this review helpful.

Hello, thank you for sharing your positive experience! We're so glad that we were able to go above and beyond your expectations! Thank you, Naim Community Manager The Ventana
We are about to enter our 4th year of leasing our home at The Ventana. Through these past years every aspect of Ventana living has evolved impressively; from the introduction of web portal maintainence requests to the recent upgrading of laundry and pool areas. Acting with the needs of residents as priority, staff are well trained, knowledgeable and friendly. In particular Alex, assistant manager, who has been an excellent contact and representative of our community. From viewing our first choice of studio apartment through to settling into our present 1 bedroom home , Alex has been exemplary in answering questions and ensuring that our need for accessible living was met with an apartment situated where entrances are wheelchair accessible. We wouldn't live anywhere else, there's no need to move from our part of perfection. The Ventana is our home.

This place is badly maintained and overpriced for what it is. I've lived here for 3 years. I know people who have had rat infestation, roaches and there is a hoarder in the studio building who makes the entire first floor and stairway smell like death. I can't wait to get out. Expect management to change semi annually, huge turnover

old they don't fix things like they should yo much money for what you get
The Ventana has a gorgeous indoor pool which is open year-round and is conveniently located by I25, RTD, if that's your thing, and walking trails. Overall, there have been significant improvements with Greystar still being relatively new for management (three years or so). Communication can be lax on management's part, but the office staff are great and as prompt as possible with a superior maintenance team that work well together. Additionally, I like that I can pay rent and submit work orders online, but would like a children's playground or better fitness center for the overall package. I would recommend living here based on reasonable prices for updated apartments, location and people--community and staffing wise.
The location is convenient for anyone who wants to live a little outside Downtown Denver - but still wants easy access (train & highways) to Downtown and the mountains! The apartments are spacious - but that may be the only great thing I have to say about them. The kitchen is nothing to be desired and the screen doors to the porches no longer work since the buildings are literally falling apart. The leasing office isn't very helpful and any requests for maintenance need to be made several times before actually getting anything done.
Close to major highway and downtown Friendly staff Indoor pool Pet friendly
The overall community is alright. There is a nice bike trail really close by, and overall its a pretty quiet neighborhood. The apartments themselves are not new, and so not in the best condition, but the staff tries to keep their tenants happy. The price is a little high for what you get. The hot tub is always very filthy, but the pool is nice. The whole area could benefit by being cleaned up quite a bit.
