From the shore of Bde Maka Ska lake to the thriving businesses along Lyndale Avenue, Uptown serves as a major hub for arts and entertainment in Minneapolis. The music scene has deep roots, with legendary alumni such as Prince getting their start in Uptown. The nightlife tends to be a bit more subdued than the nearby Warehouse District, but still incorporates dozens of bars and nightclubs catering to a variety of tastes. The neighborhood is known for its artistic flair, reflected in the abundance of public artworks and popular events like the Uptown Art Fair.
When it comes to living in Uptown Minneapolis, folks have several great options. Most of the neighborhood is residential, with everything from historic apartment buildings to large single-family homes lining the streets. The extensive network of tree-shaded sidewalks make it simple to reach your favorite café or neighborhood pub on foot, and Downtown is easily within biking distance.

Property Ratings at The Venue On Knox Apartments
The location cannot be beat. It's practically between the Lake of the Isles and the Bde Maka Ska. There is green space on most sides. It's situated next to the midtown greenway and 'The Mall' park, which hosts a regular Farmers Market. Walking distance of two grocery stores and several restaurants and bars. Its kept warm during the winter and the view is great. The floor plans are well sized and the management is very personable.

We do our best to ensure a five-star experience and ensure community upkeep, so thank you for taking the time to recognize our efforts in doing so. If there's ever anything you need, please don't hesitate to let us know. Thank you and have a great rest of your day! Sincerely, The Venue On Knox Team
Where to begin? Personable, amazing office folks who will help with literally anything, great gatherings with residents, nice views, care taker can do pet sitting whenever you need, and convenient for every type of food from Barbette to Brim to Stellas Fish Cafe. This building will always hold a special place in our hearts. Sidenote: it's much more social at a lower price point than "luxury buildings" up the street. So if you're budget conscious like we were, this place is tremendous value. Thanks for making Uptown so special and no doubt new residents will love it too! Cheers, Greg and Christa

I lived here a couple of years ago, the place was infested with bed bugs. I had to throw out everything I owned. From what I hear, that hasn't changed.

Hi, this is Kimberley from KMS-Corporate. I'm unsure of what happened a number of years ago but it sounds like you had a bad experience and I'm sorry. Unforunately any building, business or home can get pests but so it's important that owners work with a reputable pest control company to either eliminate or prevent pests and we do. We are unaware of any current issues but if you have a current concern that you can share we'd be happy to speak with you and work to resolve it. You can contact us at 952-593-9930.
I lived here a couple of years ago and this place is infested with bed bugs. Management was incredibly shady about the whole thing. I came to find out they had major issues for years. After moving out, I saw the same exterminator there almost every week. It was a disaster. I had to throw out everything I owned. Ask yourself, this building has been here for 30-40 years and there are 5 reviews? This place is infested. You’ve been warned.

I'm sorry to hear that you had an unpleasant experience at our community in the past. I'm not familiar with the situation you reference. Unfortunately pests can happen in any community, business or home, but we work with a pest control company that performs preventive treatments to avoid issues, or treat issues, if needed. We want our residents to be happy and comfortable in their home and experience as little inconvenience as possible. Again, I'm sorry to hear that we disappointed you.
Pros: good location/rooftop view, management is quick to respond to requests, the people are friendly and will give you a tour when management forgets your scheduled time Cons: the kitchen water in certain units can take 10 minutes to get hot, certain units don’t have outlets in the bathroom, the internet port is in the bedroom closet so if a device requires a Ethernet connection you’ll need an extra long cable
I hastily signed the lease on my current apartment without even having toured the unit. I was familiar with the location, which is GREAT, and didn’t want to make another long trip from Madison, WI, to Minneapolis for an exhausting weekend touring units. Photos and a floor plan sent via email confirmed I would be able to fit most of my current furniture and the kitchen and bathroom were updated, which was my most important stipulation. Having lived here for 6 months now, I’m happy, but uncertain whether I’ll resign my lease. My unit is only 350 square-feet, by FAR the smallest I’ve lived in during my five years renting. But it was the most reasonable rent available for 1 person in the location I wanted (it’s so hard to find middle-of-the-road rent prices!). And the amenities—including a rooftop deck with stunning views of Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles, comfortable lounge chairs, gas grills and a pool, plus a small fitness room—are important to me. Without a balcony included in my current unit, it’s crucial to have the rooftop to escape to, and I’m enjoying saving money on a gym. The drawbacks to the apartment are no in-unit washer/dryer (which I had in my previous apartments), water and trash are not included in the rent, and I’ve had several plumbing/appliance issues (bathroom sink leaks all over counter; hot water in kitchen barely comes out; had to have my oven replaced). The staff is friendly and accommodating to the issues, though, and I love being able to walk outside my door and be steps from the Lake of the Isles running path, Lunds’ grocery store, and various Uptown bars and restaurants. If you want an apartment with a prime location, updated (but not luxury) finishes, and amenities like a pool and fitness room, The Calhoun is a good option.
The tour video was terribly designed. This gets me excited to know that they are focusing their time, money, and efforts on creating a great living environment rather than video design. Well done Calhoun Apts!
