Nestled alongside the banks of the mighty Mississippi River, the Mill District is an exciting neighborhood in the eastern portion of Downtown Minneapolis. The Mill District is known for its stunning mix of historic architecture and modern delights.
The Mill District is home to a number of former flour mills, remnants of Minneapolis’ past life as the flour milling capital of the world. Many of these former flour mills have been converted into luxury lofts and condos. Even if you don’t live in one, you’ll appreciate the look of these impressive brick structures and their vintage signage juxtaposed against the modern Minneapolis skyline.
The neighborhood offers plenty of green space and opportunities for outdoor recreation at Mill Ruins Park and Gold Medal Park, along with close proximity to the Commons, U.S. Bank Stadium, and Bohemian Flats Park. Several cultural institutions call the neighborhood home, including Guthrie Theater and Mill City Museum.

Property Ratings at The Vicinity
I've lived in alot of apartment downtown; but I have to agree that this is the best apartment hands down. The property manager is extraordinary, and she goes above and beyond to ensure my needs are met. I am very happy.

Hello, thank you for posting your positive review. Our team here at The Vicinity is committed to providing high-quality customer service, and we’re thrilled to hear that we made a good impression on you! Thank you for choosing to call The Vicinity home.
UNSAFE!!! I have been living in The Vicinity (Sonder at Vicinity) for a year and I (as well as many other residents) have been victims of continuous robberies. On the weekends, individuals with weapons come into the apartment building garage and break into cars stealing anything they can find. It happened to me once again this past weekend 10/16/2021 and the weekend before 10/09/2021. This last time, the thieves even left/forgot a knife inside of my car!! There are cameras but the management company will not show you the footage. They are more worried about the reputation of the building than the safety of the people who live in it. I have tried posting this in the apartment building's community page but the manager will not allow those posts and will take them down (again, they are more worried about the reputation of the building). The managers will not inform other residents about these robberies and the only action they will take is send emails every once in a while about "not letting other people in the garage" as if all these was the residents fault and not a lack of a reliable security system- as the residents have NO way to control when the parking garage door closes. What will it take for the Sherman Associate Management company to do something about this? For someone to get stabbed or shot? I think it is also worth mentioning that the vicinity charges a monthly rate of $185 for a parking spot
These apartments are so gorgeous! I spent the longest time looking for an apartment and I couldn’t be happier, my appartment is so spacious and everything is brand new. There are a lot of great amenities in the building, and the neighborhood is very conveniently located with a lot of activities!
