Stonewall/Salemtowne is a small neighborhood in the Old Town district. This wooded neighborhood is predominately residential, but residents have access to several shopping centers and parks nearby like Hine Soccer Park. Winston-Salem has a lower cost of living compared to the rest of the state and Stonewall/Salemtowne follows suits in affordability. There are apartments and houses available for every budget, but the area is a great choice for renters seeking a more affordable locale that isn’t too far from Winston-Salem’s biggest destinations. Stonewall/Salemtowne is about three miles north of Wake Forest University for those who want to be close to campus. Winston-Salem State University, Salem College, Carolina University, and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts aren’t far from the neighborhood either. For a wider variety of shopping, dining, and entertainment options, residents flock to Downtown Winston-Salem, which is about six miles south of Stonewall/Salemtowne.

Property Ratings at The View at 5010
My apartment has been growing mold from the vents from the time I moved in thought it was ok it came back growing on the cabinets and in the vents. They just spray it over with white paint. They will also rip you out your money if you are not careful by charging you their renters insurance saying they didn’t have yours on file. Then try to credit you only a percentage of your money back!!!(When paid for the year no relapse and during the leasing period.) Have never felt this sick before!!!If I could this would be a 0 star and maintenance is not good at all. Then the leasing office people say anything to get you out there face so they don’t actually have to deal with your problems saying they will deal with it and magically forget.
Renewed my lease for another year , wishing I haven’t . The stairwell walking to your apartment is always dirty , I’ve seen roachs outside & trying to come in on out balcony. Called plenty of times all year about my mold on the ceiling also about my ceiling tile peeling , they done nothing but paint over it a week before lease was ending . Some of the new staff in office are rude , they barely put your work orders in but want they “ rent “ money on time but don’t take care of their property . Parking is horrible & crime is crazy , police are always over here , kids all outside
I’m going on my 3rd year here at “The View” and it has been amazing for me and my daughter.Nothing will ever be completely perfect but when you can make your apartment a home and suitable for you, YOU’RE winning. Being here for three years I’ve had things to break and of course normal wear and tear of things, however I’ve never had issues with management making sure that those things were fixed and or updated. I’ll be here until it’s time for me to transition to ownership!

I've lived in this complex for three years, and finally moving out this month. - The buildings have mold and roaches, to the extent that we had roaches INSIDE the digital clock of our oven. - Several neighbors have dogs that they DO NOT LEASH and will walk with them unrestrained. I've also ran into multiple dogs (big and small) that are let outside without supervision to go do their business. - It is a STRUGGLE to get maintenance to fix anything. - The cabinets are small, hard to clean because their surfaces are scratchy/gritty, the shelves sag in the middle, and we had trouble with mold inside (to the extent that we saw mold on our drinking glasses). We called them to let them know, they sprayed something inside to get rid of the mold and then they started leaking this disgusting looking tan gunk afterwards (glue maybe?). We also have a cabinet that we cannot use because it has molded and fallen in. - The countertops are warped and their finish chips and peels off over time. If you sit something on top of them for any length of time (even a bowl or a plate) a mark will be left. - The outlets are loose. All of them. No exceptions. - The fixtures are grotty, rusted and cracked. - Our bathtub was already stained when we moved in. - We moved in to a broken bathroom mirror, a hole punched into the back of one door, and our front door doesn't open or close until you shove it or kick it. - They have these metal doors to cover closets and the laundry room and they're painted brown on the front, completely rusted over in the back. - The water pressure is terrible, our sinks constantly get backed up, and your upstairs neighbor will inevitably flood your apartment (via a light fixture) at least once in your duration here. - The grounds are not well taken care of. There's trash, leftover food and bones, and broken glass throughout the parking lots and sidewalks. Be careful if you have dogs. - The "bark park" is not fully enclosed. There are two sneaky gaps where the fencing meets a retaining wall. - Drying your laundry takes 2-3 runs because the vents are not properly cleared or maintained.

Don't move here. Maintenance is terrible, never follow up and get things fixed. If it breaks you'll be stuck with it for months unless it's causing immediate damage to the apartment. There are roaches, loud neighbors, gunshots at night, nobody picks up after their dogs and their apartments are falling apart. Water gets shut off several times a year for 2+ days and you always lose electricity if there's any kind of cold weather. If you see a positive review, it's because the office bribes people to make positive reviews with rent discounts.

I’ve been living here two years the first year was tolerable even with the loud downstairs neighbors and minimum parking spots for actual residents. The second year came around we had no heat for a while they had to keep coming back to fix it the master bathroom has a constant leak they have to come fix and they keep parts on hand to fix our stove bringing them back a total of 4 times and leaving me without a way to make dinner some nights our balcony was rotted they just came and repainted it and our apartment didn’t have ceiling lights so we had to buy lamps for the living room and bedrooms. Just the other day a nonresident hit my roommate car and ran and the leasing office didn’t have much to say about that. This apartment is decent for those who’s just starting out and looking for a place to live.

Don’t move here!! You’ll regret it. You constantly see tenants moving in and out with good reason. Overpriced for an apartment that falls apart, is full of health hazards, and managed by people who could care less about their tenants.

I have lived here almost 2 years and the utilities are not worth the hassle that comes with the maintenance. It was evidence they never cleaned the apartment before I moved in, there is water damage under the sink and they left the water on where the washer is supposed to go - causing more water damage. They allow their residents to leave their dogs on their patios and never clean up the waste the dogs make. It always smells like a kennel outside making it hard to breathe. They do not tell you when you have a package and are very unhelpful when it comes to releasing. The washers and dryers down in the laundry never works but maybe one. At a time.
I moved in and immediately had to live in my bedroom for a month because of air conditioning issues. They put a window air conditioner in my bedroom, so that is why I had to live in my bedroom for the first month I was there. Also, the maintenance staff enters your apartment whenever they desire without telling you or scheduling a appointment!
Not the best, not the worst. The walls are so thin it sounds as if someone is walking through your apartment. You can smell what your neighbor is cooking when you sit in your living room. I have been living here 2 years and I have encountered all types of bugs including 2 flea infestations (I do not own pets). There are many stray cats which crawl under the complex and those areas have not been sealed. The complex has been under 3-4 managements and 2 name changes since living here and there is no wonder they cannot be proactive about problems. I hear a lot of people complain about maintenance, personally, I have never had that issue. Additionally, if you plan to live here, get candles and flashlights. There is almost always power outages during big storms. Cons: Bugs…..FLEAS! There is no pet regulation of pet clean up so there is dog dropping everywhere! Stray cats Loud AC which doesn’t get to the bedroom even with the door open The parking lot will tear your tires up! FLEAS!!! Pros: Affordable I have never had an issue with maintenance The office is friendly and try to be proactive
I have lived here for 5 yrs. The management here are always pleasant and attentive. My kids have enjoyed the pool and "internet cafe" they have established at the main office. Everthing is not always perfect. But when brought to managements attention, its been handled promptly.
I have lived here since April 2015, The staff is very attentive to everything that goes on here, very helpful and nice. I am going to renew my lease for another year. There are up's and down's just like every apartment complex not everything can always be 100% all the time the office staff and maintenance men do their best to help everyone out the best they can and get to the work orders as fast as they can , people need to realize what the office staff has to deal with on a daily basis the behind the scenes things that happen everyday, people need to have patients and understanding that things might not get done when they want them done, there are 433 apartments here and and that's a lot of apartments to take care of. I know there are worse places to live because I've heard or read or reviewed them, this place is shaping up from what it was like when I first moved in so kudo's to the staff and others who work here to make this place a pleasant place to live. 5 stars plus plus plus
The management team is very friendly! It is super close to Walmart, Harris teeter, plenty of food and shopping options! Even the residents are really nice. I definitely plan on renewing my lease!
I must say, the price is perfect and the staff are always there to help. Currently renewed our lease and we are happy about it!
If you are looking for a place to live this is definitely not it. Save your time and money. This place is a dump. I had a leak in my master bathroom which caused mold to grow. They decided to cut out my ceiling to fix the leak and took exactly 11 months to replace it. During this time water constantly poured into my bathroom whenever the tenants upstairs showered or used their toilet, mind you all of the wiring and exhaust fan was hanging down loosely . I eventually called the city code enforcement who found my apartment to be uninhabitable for humans and ordered them to repair within 30 days or move me and guess what. I’m still here 3 months later and th repairs were just made 1 week ago. This place is really a freaking joke.
I've just moved in to my 2 bedroom, 1 bath. The updates they've done are fantastic. I love the laminate flooring and the spacious vanities. The patios/balconies are a lot more spacious then previous apartments I've seen. Trash sites are conveniently located and are usually taken care of well. Neighbors that I've met so far seem very friendly. It can get a little loud on weekends, but that's everywhere. Maintenance is prompt, I haven't had any issues thus far. Victor and Latoya from the office are amazing! They made my transition very smooth and easy.

Thank you for your review and five-star rating of The Fields Parkside! It is always nice to hear about members of our team who have gone above and beyond, and we're thrilled that you're happy with the finishes in your apartment as well as our maintenance services. Please get in touch if you need anything!
I've been living here for about a year and half and it was called ambercrest before. At first the change was annoying but I find that the service I receive from the main office and the maintenance guys to be really good. The office folks are straight talking people that dont give me just a bunch of bs. I feel that from when I moved in and to-date they have done a good job keeping the place clean, especially around the dumpsters . The place I live is good and quite and all the nessary hook ups like cable and Internet are really easy to get done. I feel that this place treats me good. I also feel that this place would be perfect for college kids or people that need to have a roommate as the rent is very reasonable and we are only 10 or so minutes away from the downtown area and there are good things like there's a neighborhood Walmart market within walking distance and there is a gas station that is close by that's got good greasy food. And if you like to work out just walk around th complex as the terrain is hilly and will give you a good work out. There are a lot of positives of living here so why not come and see for yourself
i had a issue where my garbage disposal stopped working. I had to call the office 5 times just to get someone to stick a wrench down the drain and fix it. The buildings have been going through a renovation for a long time and some apartments still aren't finished. And my balcony door is broken along with a bathroom cabinet door that looks as though it was attempted to be fixed before we moved in.
I love where my apartment is located. I love the peaceful and quiet area surrounded by a great scenery that makes it so lovable. GOD put me here to enjoy every minute of it. THANK YOU, JESUS!!!! The patio is perfect and the apartment has had some work done on the outside, new windows and the color of the building makes everything look new. The inside of the apartment has plenty room for a one bedroom but it needs to have some minor repairs done. The walls need to be repainted and the carpet cleaned because this is the beginning of another year that I will be here. I am BLESSED to have a lovely place to live.
I have been living in this complex for the past 5 years. Since that time it has been under at least 3 property owners .We're been told about all the great changes but not anything has been completed. Currently under a "3 million dollar" renovation that has come to a stand still.Signs are still up advertising things that we do not have. Apartment grounds are not well kept.No renovation plans for the inside. Very slow with maintenance services. Will not return phone calls. Would not recommend this place.
