At the heart of Missouri, Columbia is truly one of America’s greatest college towns. The University of Missouri sits right at the center of the city, and generally serves as the cultural hub for the wider community. Locals, whether connected directly to the university or not, regularly visit campus for sporting events, concerts, gallery exhibitions, lectures, and more. Just north of campus, Downtown Columbia features a thriving mix of coffee shops, restaurants, nightclubs, taverns, and performance venues, largely catering to the huge numbers of students from Mizzou, as well as the smaller Stephens College and Columbia College.
Of course, the community extends well beyond the collegiate environment at the city center. The University of Missouri Health Care system is the second-biggest employer in town, so the community of healthcare professionals in town is quite extensive. The cost of living is quite affordable, and there are numerous apartments and rental homes to fit any budget.

Property Ratings at The View
The neighborhood is really one of the best in Columbia, but during the two years I lived there I noticed several things that were unsettling. First the ceilings leak and it takes several weeks for anything to get done about it. Had some mold issues with the ceiling and also in the wall behind the dishwasher. The managers/owner refuse to re-paint the worn numbers on the parking spots, so there was some quarrels among neighbors about parking. Rickety deck ( my friends were afraid to stand out there ) The roundabout on the corner is virtually unavoidable and pointless. No one knows how to use it and if you move to the 2901 building be prepared for honking and obscenities being screamed from people's car windows at each other every rush hour. The pool is not sealed correctly and once I saw a woman let her dog swim in it (no joke) I rated it three stars mostly because of the location. It is a very safe neighborhood, VERY close to hyvee, Walmart, banks, shopping and a gas station while managing to be nestled in a mature neighborhood with the nature sanctuary in walking distance.
