A former mayor once dubbed Bellingham the “City of Subdued Excitement,” an oddly perfect nickname for this delightful and unique community. Ninety minutes north of Seattle on Interstate 5, Bellingham is a charming small city positioned about twenty miles from the Canadian border. Western Washington University enrolls around 16,000 students, many of whom chose to live in the coastal Sehome area near campus.
Locals are quite enthusiastic about beer, books, and bicycles, and you’ll spot many businesses around town specializing in any and all of those Pacific Northwest staples. Bellingham hosts numerous community events throughout the year, covering everything from music to athletics; perhaps the most unique is the annual Ski to Sea race, a seven-leg relay in which teams compete to get from Mount Baker Ski Area to Bellingham Bay via skis, bikes, boats, and by foot.

Property Ratings at The Village Apartments
Beautiful grounds, great location, cute & cozy units! But if you provide your Social Security benefit letter for income proof, the owners will reject it if it doesn't have the current year on the header; which is ridiculous because everyone who gets these letters knows they're sent the year prior and details the income of the upcoming year. Also the application stipulates a credit score of 600 or better and even though mine met that criteria, 614, they cited that as an additional reason to reject my application. Must mention that the property MANAGER is not the one making the decisions, she's very nice! It's unfortunate that such a nice property has too high of a threshold for the average Senior Citizen to move into. Pat yourself on the back if you're successful with the approval process!
Ok, so I know what reviews are on here arent great but this place had a manager that wasn't great. Then Morgan started. She is available, has a great attitude and is responsive. I lived here for three years. Charlene, former manager was very difficult but I just stayed off her radar. Followed the rules and gave her kindness. But Charlene was still not the best manager for kindness back. Morgan, new manager is kind. That helps! Here is the deal about these apartments. No thrills. No deals. No special treatment. Follow the rules, pay your rent on time and its a perfect home. Its quiet, clean and decent. Rent can be very affordable but don't expect it to stay that way. That happens every where! Don't take this out on management. Its the market and inflation. You can either adapt or find another option. There are residents who expect everything and more to be given to them, some take advantage. This is not fair to management. Morgan will still treat everyone with respect and tell you the truth. I appreciate that about her. If you want a safe, quiet and standard apartment, this is a good option.
