Property Ratings at The Village at Auburn Apartments
Woke up in the middle of the night to gunshots hitting my building. 2 people shot! Lots of break ins and stolen cars. RUN!

The front gate has been broken for months and months - anybody can get in here Trash compactor's also been broken several times and we end up with a mountain of trash bags piled up outside it right at the front entrance
Updating my earlier review so it's accurate. There was a gunfire incident in my building the other day - resident shot into neighbors apartment. I had to make a huge stink with the corporate office to be let of my lease - the property manager was going to make me pay a penalty like I was just moving out because I didn't like the paint color or something. No acknowledgement that people want to feel safe in their homes and not worry about getting shot. This property has really gone downhill.
If I could rate The Village at Auburn no stars I would. The pictures on there webite are nothing like the way the property looks. Residents were told that the pool would be remodled also the gym starting May 1st. There has been no remodling of the pool there is always dirt and mulch in the pool area the grills are disgusting they dont change the trashbags or clean the bathrooms daily. There is no gym yet. The price they want for a remodled apartment is down right crazy looks can be deceiving yes they look nice but if you go in detail who ever is doing the remodling is doing a terrible job. The office staff changes every 6months and they feed you a line of crap. The parking is terrible they tow cars without a parking pass but they only have maybe 20 visitors spots on the whole property and those spots are not throughout the complex they only have 2 sections of them and they are always filled depending on what building you are in if there is a visitor spot available your visitor will more then likely have to walk a ways to your apt. The entrance gate 95% of the time is open. The dumpter always breaks and when it does a mountain of trash is piled outside of the dumpter and dumpster is right at the exit. If your thinking about moving out to The Village at Auburn just know the office will feed you a bunch of lies (not to mention the office staff now hasnt been here but maybe 4 months at the most and probably wont last long) your better off moving into a different complex or renting a townhouse for the price they want.

If I could leave a negative star I would. The apartment complex decide to fix the gate after a resident was abducted; however, I was told when I first moved in the complex of July 2017 that the gate would be fix in a few weeks. Months later even after the abduction the gate was still not fix. Once the gate was fix you can tell that the complex went the cheap route. The complex try to inforce parking into the complex with only a hand full of visitor parking with the complex being huge that is a set up for failure. Also visitors cars will get tow if they aren’t in a visitor parking which is impossible. The towing company that tows for the complex is rude and racials. Just overall bad business.I don’t suggest anymore to move here. I’m just waiting on my lease to end so I can move , I do NOT feel safe here at all!
Beautiful apartments but management is terrible and inconsiderate. Very limited parking, you could end up walking a few buildings, they didn’t try to fix security/gate (for 3 or so years) until a friend of mine was kidnapped here (look the story up...801 e Woodcroft). Then they activated the gate but didn’t properly notify lease holders that we will not be able to get in after close yesterday...they sent 2 emails weeks ago posted 1 yellow sign on the old gate box 3 days ago. Why would people look at the gate if we haven’t used it in years. They didn’t even put signs up around the neighborhood like they do if we have pest control. Now when you come in the complex you have to wait as if you were waiting to get into a concert arena. Can’t wait to move...
I've lived here just over 6 months and have found it disappointing. Don't be fooled by the model home they show you; I was told my unit would look just like the renovated apartment I was shown and it certainly does not. It looks every one of its years, with chipped paint on the walls, peeling paint on the ceiling, and obvious water marks from previous leaks. On move in I found that the "thorough cleaning and inspection" I had to wait to move in for had apparently not happened. Surfaces and blinds were filthy, carpet was full of dust and pet hair, paint splatters everywhere, toilet seat broken, there was an odor as if the last occupant had smoked, etc. On multiple occasions in the summer I had HUGE cockroaches in my unit and on my balcony despite keeping the unit clean. I don't know how they track who's picking up packages because I haven't received a slip in months and write my entry in their book when I walk in the door and take it myself. With regard to public areas, there is dog waste everywhere. Common areas like stairs and corridors in the apartment buildings are left dirty. Part of that is neighbors who don't clean up after themselves when their garbage spills and part of it is just poor management of the property. In the recent snowstorm, there was no grit salt put down ahead of time and walks were left unshoveled so every surface was covered in dangerous ice until it melted naturally. In the summer, the pool had a broken ladder with rusted screws at the bottom, and gave me a rash; it was closed before Labor Day for those who could use it. Broken-down cars are allowed to just sit there in the lots for weeks on end. The complex trash and recycling areas are a dumping ground for anything from toilets and furniture to broken appliances. I have had to knock on a neighbor's door multiple times because of how loud their music is, and they came to the door obviously high. To top it all off there was a shooting death here back in September of a 16-year-old who broke into a unit, which we received an email about describing it as a "firearms discharge" - quite a difference! We've received no updates since then. No visible action has been taken to secure the community, like fixing the main gates that have never been closed (which might help with the dumping issue as well). Look elsewhere.
Couldn't ask for a better apartment with plenty of space to accomodate family and friends and the location is perfect right by I-40 to travel easily. The management team is great and have helped me with all the concerns in an expeditious manner. I look forward to spending my college years living in this awesome apartment.
We love our community and all of the amenities available. Can't choose your neighbors, but that's not the apartment managers' fault! We live in a 2 bedroom apartment that we rent at a great price for the area, have a gated community, and our office staff is always very helpful and accomodating. We initially signed a 6-month lease, but ended up renewing for another year after our 6 month lease term was up because there's literally nowhere else within 60 miles that could give you this kind of quality for the price we pay. I would definitely recommend checking out this complex if you're in the Durham area! Plus there's great shopping nearby.
I pay attention to the details. The apt is gorgeous. I love the high ceilings, the Latte colored walls with white criwn molding. It is spacious topping at 1540 sft. I had room to decorate and plenty more room to move. The backsplash in the kitchen above the stove shocked me because I've never seen an apartment with backsplash. The master bedroom is large and the bathroom and walk in closet amazing. But it doesn't stop there. The entire complex is Resort style living and landscapes. I am loving it! So are the kids!
When my family & I first moved into our place I was so impressed how clean the place was. New carpet and toilets Two Thumbs Up For Me. And everyone is so polite just really makes feel us feel like we belong there. Thank You!!!
On the surface South Terrace looks like a nice complex but it once you look under the covers do you learn what this complex is really like. Pros: 1. Close to the Triangle, I40 and shopping such as South Point Mall. 2. Good size apartments. 3. Pet friendly Cons: 1. Poor maintenance of property grounds. Fences are broken, entrance gate is broken, plantings around the central pond are way over grown. I think they are going for a "natural" look but what it looks like is an unkempt mess. 2. A lot of people don't clean up after their pets. You are constantly dodging dog waste as you walk around the complex. I have a dog and it is still gross. 3. Lack of pet waste receptacles and pet waste bags. There are 3 pet waste stations that I can think of. Most times the bag dispensers are empty and they seem to only empty them once a week. If you want people to pick up after their pets make it easier. 4. Low class of people that live there. People don't seem to care about the complex or their fellow residents. People speed through the parking lot and strew trash everywhere. 5. No policing of the pool use. It is very obvious that non-residents use the pool and usually trash the pool area - literally and figuratively. Several times over this past summer the pool needed to be closed due to the mess that was left. 6. Children are not supervised. Children ride their bikes in the parking lot unsupervised making it very unsafe for the children and hard to back out of parking spaces without risk of hitting a child (see #4).
