Property Ratings at The Village at Blue Hen
I love this apartment. The property manager is super helpful and quick to respond and so is maintenance. We've had some small issues with our dryer and dishwasher and both issues were addressed within 12 hours. We live on the first floor so sometimes we hear our upstairs neighbor walking but its never so loud we can't handle it. Our next door neighbors are so quite i question if they're even there. The grounds are kept very clean and maintained. I would highly recommend the old construction as the layout is more pleasing and I've heard some of the new construction can be a pain for the appliances. All in all i absolutely love it here and it was the best value for the lowest cost.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience! We're thrilled to hear that you have been enjoying your time here so far and that both our management and maintenance team have been able to address any issues promptly. We appreciate your recommendation and we're happy to have you as a resident!
Feel like wasting time, and money moving? Hate sleeping? Despise peace and quite? Enjoy loud, continuous noise early every morning and late at night? Like having maintenance request ignored, then falsified as if they were addressed? Want a property manager that literally does nothing? Then this is the perfect place!! I lasted 2 months. Neighbors so loud my family and I never slept a full night. So loud the apartment shook, and wall fixtures fell. What does the property manager do, you ask? Nothing but insist I leave instead of addressing the issue. Even had the luxury of having the police called on me by said neighbors. I literally feared for my families safety staying here, and HATED every second of being there. Absolutely disgusted with my experience. If I can save you, my job is done. Just pray you don't get my old apartment. *By chance if anyone from the property attempts to respond just know its garbage, they had numerous times to address but did nothing.

Hi, LaToya. We’re sorry to see your ongoing reviews. We want to emphasize that our property manager has been in communication with you each time you reached out, both via phone and email. To avoid any further back and forth online, we believe it would be best to continue this conversation offline. Thank you for your understanding and we wish you the best.
Firstly, this is one of the best apartment complexes I've lived in. I feel safe and comfortable. I never hear my neighbors, maintenance responds quickly, and management is professional. The only issue I have with this apartment is no fault of the complex owners, but City of Dover has an issue where the water frequently turns brown. This is supposedly due to the periodic flushing of pipes. However, it is still disconcerting to see brown water coming out of the shower/sink and sitting in the toilet. We were told to run our hot water until it runs clear, but this is not an option for fixing the toilet water color. This is the reason I can't give 5 stars.

I've lived here for over a year now and it's easily the best apartment I've ever had. I almost never hear my neighbors and everyone has been friendly. Property management team is fantastic as well. They resolve all issues quickly and correctly without issue. They are responsive with questions and facilitate a great community. Highly recommend!

I lived here for a year and had no problems. The property manager Liz and Darien have been very professional and helpful the whole time I have been here. It has also been a very safe place to live. Thank you Village at Blue Hen for the opportunity to live here. MA

Very poor property. Thinnest walls I have ever had in my life. It was a mistake moving here. They capture you because it is newer but it is not worth the money. The managers need to invest more into the property. Rude community members and staff will not reprimand bad behaviors.

Management does not care about the concerns about the tenants. I am disgusted with them. They allow complaints to go unattended to and claim that they “cannot do much about it.” This is not a welcoming community and has been my worst experience living in Dover. Beautiful aesthetically, but horribly constructed. You can hear everything.

I can’t wait to move out. This complex was built poorly. My ceilings are separating. The peep holes are on the main doors, however, they should be on the doors closer to the doorbell as that is where visitors make contact first. The overall units are a safety concern as they are not secured, leaving all tenants vulnerable to robberies as they are not key-entry. The Appliances aren't the best. If you attempt to clean your walls, the paint rubs off. Vacuuming your carpet causes the thread to loosen and separate. The noise level from your neighbors is mind-blowing. The wooden steps allow you to hear The constant walking up and down. The walls are so thin- I frequently hear my neighbors urinating and flushing their toilets- how delightful. When your neighbors play their music it’s loud. God forbid you want some fresh air on a sunny day- you’re subjected to the smell of cigarettes that enter through your windows. The mail here is like solving quantum physics puzzles. I’m always searching for my mail that gets lost or simply vanishes after delivery. Watch your kids, there’s drivers disregarding the speed limits. The amount of dog poop on the grounds is unmentionable and unacceptable. Transparency is not something exercised by management and I wouldn’t recommend this complex to anyone. They spend more time inviting you to “nacho Tuesday” or “spaghetti Saturday” instead of investing that time into orchestrating community meetings to really gauge how their tenants feel.

From start to finish of my application process Ms. Woody in the leasing office has been so incredibly helpful. Could be more thank for her help. She has tended to my every question and constant emails. Beyond the best experience in the "finding a home" process.

I have lived here running on 4 years and I don't have much to complain about. Other than having to pay for your other lightbulbs every time they go out or if you live on the first floor and experiencing the noise of your upstairs neighbors and apartment complex neighbors running up and down the stairs day in and day out, this place is a really nice place to live. I lived on the 3rd floor in the 2-bedroom apartments and currently on the 1st floor 3-bedroom apartments. My roommates and I have rarely had any issues with equipment (one summer the AC unit went out and we filed a repair request but we never received the help until the following spring). This apartment complex is very accommodating and worth it to move into. Pros: Newest apartments in Dover. Near local bars, restaurants, gym, Dover AFB, elementary school, grocery stores, auto-care shop. Apartments are very spacious. Swimming pool (open in summer) is almost always clean. Landscaping/Maintenance is routinely performed. Very friendly community. (block parties are thrown very so often) Very clean. Washer/Dryer provided. Cons: Almost all the units are full so you can expect a lot of people to be living here. Traffic. (mostly bad during the school year) Walls are too thin. (IMO i always hear my upstairs neighbors when they run through their apartment or when they slam their front door shut, it wakes me right up sadly) Fitness room isn't for those that "lift" (heaviest dumbbell is like 35 lbs) and sometimes the cardio equipment doesn't work. Parking can be a pain but most of the time you'll find adequate parking. Good luck getting out the area during the harsh winter months. (they do their best i believe to keep roads clear) Rent is upped $25-$50 annually. There isn't much to complain about living here. I must add that during my stay, there was a string of burglars and sadly my apartment was one of the units to be robbed. Be sure to keep your doors locked and be aware of the sketchy neighboring apartment complex across the street (this isn't a regular occurrence, but it does happen). All in all I hate to leave this place but its been a great 1st apartment for me and set the bar for living standards for my next apartments complex where I live.
I have lived here for over 3 years. This place is great. Office and maintenance staff are very attentive to the residents. The property is properly maintained.
I currently live here so the main thing I like about this place is its environment.which is very fresh , clean and tidy. About the staffs till now they seems good, and hopefully in near future too this will reflects as same:) Good Neighbour and quiet:)
