Property Ratings at The Village at Odenton Station
They have nice apartments but they are shady with their application process and they lie about not being approved. They only want "select" tenants and they never returned my deposit. This is your warning stay away.
this management company does not control the noise or impact the on site retail businesses have on the residential tenants. a ruth chris restaurant is going in and the construction noise is horrid.if you want a quite place to live this is not it. all the bicycles were vandalized in the garage. businesses pump music over loud speakers into the parking lot. a towing company patrols the parking lot, tows, and charges hundreds to anyone parking in the empty retail lot after 10. the valet trash service only collects monday thru thursday. tenants must either take trash to the dumpster or, like many do, pile three days worth of trash in the hallway sundays night. then when you leave for work in the a.m. there are trails of dropped trash in the hallways. the elevators are slow as molasses and there is only 1 per building section. there are only 2 stairwells at either end. I am sure it passes code, but doesnt feel safe. I am curious how they are going to deal with our security as the stairs in the buildings are not locked in the stairwell and the 250 person capacity restauarant now has an opening into our stairwell. anyone with restaurant access will have access to our floors, rendering our security worthless. awful place for the money. only bright spot is its across from the marc.
I recently moved into these apartments and it seems that management has no control over the property. The inside of the apartments themselves are pretty nice and the grounds are kept in excellent condition. The management is the downfall of this complex though. For the price of these apartments you'd expect everything to be some what flawless but is far from that. First off this summer the air conditioning was broken in the hallway of my floor. I was understanding until it took them four weeks to fix the unit. With this being said it also raised by electricity bill significantly due to it being so hot in the hallway and that heat making its way into my apartment. You are required to pay an extra $50 a month for a second parking spot(no problem) except several people without parking permits park in the lots anyways. The towing company which is suppose to patrol and tow these vehicles does not monitor the lot and won't tow a car unless you personally call about it. Adding to the parking situation in the 4 months I have lived here the security gate as been stuck open, defeats the purpose of secure parking. They do have a valet trash service that you are required to pay $30 a month for which is very nice but there have been several nights where the company has not removed anyones trash on my floor. Pets are allowed for a fee but they restrict dogs to a maximum of 40lbs which is a joke since they do not enforce this rule. There are a large number of tenets who have very large dogs (60 lbs).
I got the only studio apartment they offer here and I love it. The size of the apartment and price are perfect for the lifestyle and budget of a single service member. The one bedrooms are great too for some one like me. I chose the studio because it is on the first floor. The village offers a business room as well where you can do work if you don't have access to a printer or computer, and there's great parties and events every so often sponsored by local communities. There are some fantastic stores that are a part of the complex, including Baltimore coffee and tea which is a great stop before your morning commute. The Marc station is just a few minutes walk away but you can't hear the trains from your room. There unfortunately isn't a pool at the complex but there is one at one of the partner complexes just a short drive away. My only complaint is parking. My guests have been towed away so you have to make sure you get the guest pass from the front office, and make sure they are parking in the right place. My lease is up shortly, but I plan on extending.
