Sterling is roughly 10 miles south of Downtown Charlotte, with I-485 serving as the neighborhood’s southern border and I-77 just a few minutes west. Sterling is a popular shopping destination, with the large Carolina Pavilion shopping plaza located along South Boulevard. This shopping area features stores like Nordstrom Rack, Babies “R” Us, buybuy Baby, and Cost Plus World Market. It also features an AMC movie theater. Carolina Place, a large indoor shopping mall with stores like REI, Sears, Belk, Macy’s, and Dillard’s, is located just south of Sterling. I recently signed a lease of renewal for another year for The Villages a couple of months ago. I really have enjoyed my time living here, while I financial prepare for homeownership. The staff have been great with their communication regarding community changes (yay SMART home technology!) and a huge help with any questions or concerns that I may have. My favorite parts of the apartment I reside in are the large windows, allowing for ample natural lighting and the screened-in balcony. It’s beautiful! Personally i believe this place is one of the best apartments in south Charlotte mostly thanks to the staff, they helped us a lot through the move in process and made things much easier for me and my grandmother while moving in, one in specific to note is natasha she helped quite a lot with explaining everything to my grandmother, and the quality of the apartments is great! i didn't see any damage whatsoever! unlike a lot of places and anytime there is maintenance is really fast with resolving it 10/10
I lived in the Villages for two years before buying a townhome. It was move-in ready when I arrived and no major issues during my stay. The office and maintenance staff are very professional and get things done. The grounds are kept very clean. I'll miss the huge, old trees. The Villages are super convenient to everything -- 485, the light rail, and tons of shopping. The rent is reasonable, nice pool, and valet garbage pick up. I highly recommend -- good value for your dollar!
I can't say enough great things about The Villages. From the staff (Ivan and Penny are some of the best people you'll meet) to the care that goes into these units - it's awesome. We moved from Boston down to Charlotte during summer of 2018 and knew nothing about the area. We signed the lease for The Villages before we even visited it so it was a total shot in the dark. We're happy to say it totally paid off! People complain about the rent down in Charlotte but for us, it is MUCH more affordable than the steep prices of Boston. That said, Uptown Charlotte and the surrounding areas are beautiful but far more expensive than what we were willing to spend. The Villages is priced very reasonably for the age of the units and the location. I feel safe here (which I can't say the same for other parts of Charlotte unfortunately) and there are tons of amenities around us including a great gym (Harris YMCA), grocery stores (Trader Joe's and Harris Teeter) and other shopping (Target included). We love being near the Lynx if we want to use it but it's also much less crowded here than areas close to the city when we do use a car (though you can tell how much the city is growing judging by the increased traffic). Another big highlight for us - screened in porches! I have not seen another complex since living down here that has a screened in porch! Maintenance is incredibly responsive when you need them and you can tell the care that goes into maintaining the grounds and units. They are fairly consistent with pest control and the worst we've had in our unit has been a random Palmetto bug or a house centipede - nothing to be all that concerned about considering The Villages are settled in a fairly wooded area. We are on the second floor and hear almost no noise from surrounding units. If you're looking for true value when it comes to size and location - The Villages is what you're looking for! We'll be sad to leave it when the time comes for purchasing a home!

FULL DISCLOSURE: I work in the industry but NOT for this company As someone who works for the industry and did so when i moved in, this was and will probably always be my favorite apartment living experience. The staff and management are so attentive when you need something and truly do a great job ensuring all needs are met such as work orders, rent posted and the property always looks great. I regret moving away but we took jobs on the other side of Charlotte and the commute simply became too much. Given the chance my husband and I would absolutely move back. Go check it out! You will understand as soon as you see the property. The prices are SOOOO far below market and even with the increases its the best value in Charlotte. GREAT location, quiet neighborhood and I have (and will continue to) referred friends and family to this property.
I have been a resident of this property for 4 years and it is quiet and peaceful location. It is conveniently located between south blvd and park road. 5 minutes from 485 . The employees here are great and they have made many positive changes lately. You will not find a better maintenance or management staff in Charlotte.
I have lived at The Villages for over five years. the location is amazing, within 10 minutes you have two malls, two interstates, a movie theater, 24 hour grocery stores, and any restaurant you could want. The complex itself is tucked away off the main road in a beautiful area with lots of trees and is great for jogging or walking your dog. Management is great, very friendly, and they make sure that any maintenance issues are taken care of right away. The only things I don't like are the "gym" and the fact that most of the apartments have been updated since I've moved in but mine has not, but my rent as high as what they charge new residents in the nicer units.
The Villages in a safe and friendly place to live and to top it off, every porch is screened in...providing great summer evenings outdoors without the bugs. The staff is friendly and efficient, service calls are handled in a quick professional manner. The grounds are well maintained. It is a great place to live, so why am I moving? Rent increases. When we moved in on May 2010 our rent was $600 per month, now it is $785 and we are facing another increase of $50 come November. The owners are out of state and have no loyalty to current residents and will not work with you over rent increases. They figure there is always someone else to take your place. You either pay whatever they decide to raise your rent to or move out. They have now placed us over our budget. If your budget allows you to pay every increase, this is a great place to live. We have enjoyed our time here and there is very little crime. I have always felt safe.
Conveniently located within a five or ten minute walk of the intersection at South Boulevard and Sharon Road West, a major rail system stop, this community is still pleasantly quiet and secluded. Unit rent includes water and trash pickup, all-electric appliances, and use of a wi-fi connected clubhouse and pool. Clubhouse office hours are 8am to 5pm Monday thru Friday and they will accept postal, UPS and FedEx deliveries for residents when necessary. The grounds are well maintained and emergency maintenance is available 24/7.
