Property Ratings at The Vintage at South Meadows
Sequoia is the worst property management company I’ve ever dealt with. My time at the Vintage has been a nightmare, and I can’t wait to move out. I moved in sight unseen, and the apartment was in awful condition: it smelled of fumes, the carpet was filthy, and everything was dirty. The carpet hadn't been replaced and the walls hadn’t been painted in years. Despite numerous complaints, the leasing office did nothing. I ended up moving in a month late due to extensive cleaning and scrubbing. I noticed a cat litter smell in the bedroom but initially ignored it. During my lease, maintenance visits were random and ineffective, often marked as complete without resolution. My name wasn’t added to the gate list, which was less of an issue since the gate has been broken for most of my lease and makes loud noises. Security is minimal; Signal makes occasional checks, but I’ve seen masked individuals breaking into cars. If you have a dog, invest in a headlamp due to poor lighting. My air conditioner broke in summer and took about a month to fix. I noticed a strange taste in the bedroom, which worsened over time and was due to the previous tenant’s cat spraying. Despite using enzyme cleaners, the smell persisted and had seeped into the concrete. I had to move my bed to the dining area because the fumes were overwhelming. The carpet cleaner didn’t show up on the scheduled day, and when he did come, he was indifferent. The smell in the bedroom worsened, and the dining area also had a strong cat ammonia odor. I’ve paid rent for months while essentially being poisoned. My dog and I have stayed with friends due to the apartment’s uninhabitable condition. I’ve spent hundreds on cleaning supplies and repairs, including removing urine-soaked wooden boards. Last night, I had to open all the windows because of suffocating fumes and found more spots needing priming. The office suggested moving units, but given their track record, I’m wary of that. My lease ends in two months, so why pay for movers twice? Their "valet" trash service is disruptive, with collections right outside the bedroom door at 2 or 3 a.m. This place is poorly managed and dirty, with trash everywhere and filthy stairways. Positive reviews seem misleading. I hope this helps others avoid the same mistake.

I have lived at The Vintage on 3 separate occasions and have always loved my time here. The community is very well maintained, beautiful, and welcoming. This is absolutely one of the best apartment complexes to live at in Reno. I love it here!!!

This property has so much to offer and the staff truly makes you feel at home. The mature trees, grass and amenities are a plus. The grounds are clean and there is a beautiful pond on the back of the property!

This is advertised as a luxury complex with prices to match but things weren't as I expected. Here are some details: * Dog waste everywhere: Dog waste is not picked up and is pervasive across the grounds; community rules around this are not enforced. For several consecutive weeks the overflowing dog waste receptacles were not emptied and it was not picked up on a regular cadence after that was sorted. * Poor Safety: Cars are regularly broken into. There are no security cameras and I rarely saw security patrols even when I took my dog out late at night. There was a stabbing at the complex and no safety changes were made after that as far as I'm aware. * Poor maintenance standards: Apartments that are up for rent and should be ready for move in are not. Mine was not ready by any means and was also very dirty and it took some serious complaints to fix, which they did. However, other apartments were in the same boat. For example, not long ago one was found to have a lot of mold under the kitchen sink with the floor in the kitchen bubbling up due to a long-standing leak when it was shown to a potential resident. The pool was closed for most of the summer because the pumps weren't working; garage doors are falling off their hinges and not fixed for months; the front gates had been broken for over 6 months and when they were finally fixed no residents who had moved in over the last 9+ months could be added to the directory. We kept getting promises that these things would be addressed and they weren't. * There are lovely mature trees and grass areas here - there's a lot going for it! It's sad because I really liked my apartment layout and it was nice once everything was fixed. I liked my neighbors and made a lot of friends at the dog park, too. There was just too much that was not taken care of outside of my apartment and too many broken promises for me to stay.

The Vintage is advertised as a "luxury" complex with prices to match but it is very far from that. The leasing office and maintenance personnel are apathetic at best and willfully negligent at worst. Some of the highlights (lowlights?) of my 5 months at The Vintage include: * Dog feces everywhere: Dog feces is not picked up and is pervasive across the grounds. The Vintage does not enforce its rules for cleaning up despite having dog owners pay $40 for Poo Prints (I never saw it used and they always made excuses for why they didn't). For several consecutive weeks over the summer the overflowing dog waste receptacles were not emptied. Tip: do not walk on the grass as you're likely to step in some poo. * Poor Safety: Cars are regularly broken into. There are no security cameras and the security firm hired rarely patrols. There was a stabbing at the complex in the autumn and in a separate incident there was a brawl between maintenance personnel. No safety changes were made after that as far as I'm aware. * Maintenance is nonexistent: When I got my keys my apt had holes in every wall, major damage in all countertops, dust and dead bugs everywhere, pipes not connected under sinks, and general filth everywhere. The complex made it right at the time but the person who helped me no longer works there. Another apartment up for lease during the summer had mold under the kitchen sink with the floor in the kitchen bubbling up due to a long-standing leak when it was shown to a potential resident. The pool was closed for most of the summer because the pumps weren't working; garage doors are falling off their hinges and not fixed for months; the front gates had been broken for over 6 months and when it was finally "fixed," no residents who had moved in over the last 9+ months could be added to the directory (still broken for all I know). We kept getting promises that these things would be addressed and they weren't. The Vintage has lovely mature trees and grass areas - there's a lot going for it! It's sad because I really liked my apartment layout and it was nice once everything was fixed. I liked my neighbors and made a lot of friends at the dog park. We love living at the Vintage. The apartments are spacious and luxuriously updated, we’re close to many grocery stores, and the staff is very friendly. The semi-private lake around back makes for a beautiful walk anytime of year.

In my past, 2 years was the longest I ever stayed in an apartment community because things always, inevitably go downhill with management changes, office staff turnover, etc. But I have lived at the Vintage at South Meadows for almost 8 years now, in 5 different units. We keep staying because of the following: 1. The Staff Cares - This is the first place Ive ever lived where the staff remembers your name, things about your life, and always has time to talk to you. When you have a problem, they will not only listen but, if its related to living here, they will go to bat for you to resolve it as quickly as they can. Sure, sometimes there are things outside of their control that cause issues, but they are always communicative and conscientious and work diligently to resolve things. 2. They Dont Pull One Over On You! - A lot of places tend to punish people for staying longer...you watch rent go down on new units while yours go up. Anytime we have ever had concerns about pricing, or bills, etc., they are always willing to hear us out and discuss things. You never feel like you are fighting a losing battle and the prices have stayed reasonable every time we have renewed or transferred. 3. The Community and the Homes - The property is well maintained, beautiful, and doesnt feel manufactured or cheap. The apartment homes are spacious, unique, and dont all look the same. The varying models suit whatever size or need you have for you and yours, and they are regularly upgrading to keep with the times. 4. Maintenance - While, like any other place, they can get bombarded and backed up,the maintenance team always responds to your requests and does their best to resolve them as quickly as possible. Anytime we have ever had an issue, we may have to wait for parts or due to a backlog, but the team stays in communication so we know whats going on. All in all, the Vintage is great. I love living here and the staff are the most caring and genuine I have ever encountered!

Been here for a little over five years. The staff in the leasing office and the facilities staff rock. I’ve had normal wear and tear in my home, and anytime something breaks or needs a fixin, the crew always take care of me quick. Very dog friendly also, we got a 1km loop duck pond that is awesome for dog walks. Lots of poop stations for your fur babies. Tariq in the leasing office is super cool and will go out of his way to greet you and see how everything is going if he sees you walkin by. 5 stars for friendly staff for being awesome!!

The maintenance does cookie cutter work. The upgrades look like crap. They did the countertops and around the sink looks like crap. There are little cuts with white spots that show because it wasn’t cut properly. There’s also a huge blob of clear sealant on the counter that was never removed. And there are cracks on the other countertop. The doorframe is cracked, and under the kitchen sink there is a bowl size dip in the wood where there was a leak. Instead of removing the wood and having it replaced, they just covered the wood in the same laminate that the kitchen floor has…..NOT WORTH THE MONEY

My son and I along with our our little fur family love living at the Vintage apartments. This is a safe feeling and quiet community. Dog friendly with plenty of little doggie stations to keep everything clean. There’s also a small fenced in dog area so that your dog can play off-leash with the neighbor dogs. ?? We have lived here since September 2020 and were offered a few different two bedroom apartment styles in different price ranges. I was able to find a more-than-decent two bedroom apartment with cathedral ceilings, two bathrooms and a fireplace which I find to be affordable as a single working mom. We love to walk around the little lake here to get exercise and view the wildlife. We have witnessed pelicans as well as turtles! We have seen a toad and there are plenty of geese and ducks to enjoy. I’ve had a couple of maintenance requests since I moved in. They were handled quickly and professionally. The maintenance crew and office crew clearly work well together. Communication is always intelligent and tasks are swiftly completed. I love that the Vintage Apartments has an online networking community for us residents. Once you live here you can chat with other residents on the community page. We like to post pictures of the beautiful scenery around the little lake! I chose the Vintage over some of the newer complexes in the area for a very specific reason. It is an older complex, they don’t make them like they used to! I noticed they have been ‘slapping’ these newer apartment complexes together so quickly. The quality and craftsmanship shows at the Vintage. These buildings were made to be long-lasting family homes and not some quickly fabricated short term solution to a home. When you are comparing the Vintage to other similar apartments in the area is the quality and professionalism of the staff. I shopped around and looked at quite a few apartments in this price range in this neighborhood before I rented at the Vintage. I was not impressed with the staff members at the other apartment complexes. They seemed disconnected, disinterested and unprofessional. The office staff at the Vintage are friendly, long-term employees who clearly care about their careers and the community here. This is a comfortable place where you and your family can feel like you are at home. I love my apartment! I have the dark wood cabinets, granite counter and so many windows! Beautiful views, nice neighbors and a lifestyle I can be proud of. And the pool is awesome.
